The contest to play James Bond is still anyone’s game with a number of suave men in the running.
While Aidan Turner has been the bookies favourite for quite some time, he is currently being pipped to the post by Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbender.
Sun Bets are currently taking bets on over 50 male actors to take on the role of James Bond as Daniel Craig’s replacement.
The favourite is currently split between Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbender, who both have odds of 11/4.
Trailing behind are War & Peace’s James Norton, Poldark’s Aidan Turner and Luther’s Idris Elba, but what are their chances?
Who’s in the running for the next Bond?
Tom Hardy
Tom Hardy has fuelled the rumour mill by staying quiet when questioned on the role
Age: 39
Sun Bets odds: 11/4
Where do we know him from? Actor Tom Hardy is no stranger to the big screen having appeared recently in Mad Max: Fury Road, The Revenant and Legend.
The British actor has recently appeared in the BBC series Taboo and has fuelled Bond rumours after refusing to comment on whether he would like to take over from Daniel Craig, for fear of jinxing his chance.
Michael Fassbender
Michael Fassbender made his Alien debut in the 2012 prequel, Prometheus
Age: 39
Sun Bets odds: 11/4
Where do we know him from? Fans may recognise Fassbender from 2012 film Prometheus, and the star has hit the big screen again with his role in Assassin’s Creed.
Sun Bets place the actor’s odds at 20/1, however in an interview with GQ Fassbender said: “As an acting role, I think Daniel has done such a cracking job in this age group.
“I think the franchise needs something new.”
James Norton
James Norton made an impression on viewers during his stint on BBCs Happy Valley
Age: 31
Sun Bets odds: 7/2
Where do we know him from? Norton has an impressive accolade of TV credits behind him.
Viewers may recognise James from BBC’s Happy Valley, where he played the role of Tommy Lee Royce.
James has also starred in Granchester, Black Mirror and War & Peace.
Aidan Turner
Aidan has become a sex symbol thanks to his topless action in Poldark
Age: 33
Sun Bets odds: 4/1
Where do we know him from? Most viewers will recognise Aidan as heartthrob Ross Poldark.
Aidan started his career on stage but soon found fame on the big screen after appearing in The Hobbit trilogy.
The 33 year old took the lead in Bond odds back in August, however refused to comment on the rumours at MCM Expo.

'Weren't you tempted to propose?' Tom Hiddleston giggles nervously after being teased about stunning Kong: Skull Island co-star Brie Larson
DAILY MAIL
By Naomi Ackerman For Mailonline
PUBLISHED: 12:32 EST, 3 March 2017 | UPDATED: 12:57 EST, 3 March 2017
They are two of the most well-renowned actors on the planet at the moment - and are starring together in new blockbuster action movie Kong: Skull Island.
And British hunk Tom Hiddleston revealed he got to film some pretty romantic scenes - including one in an open-doored helicopter at sunset over the Pacific ocean - with his stunning co-star Brie Larson.
So BBC Radio 2 show host Chris Evans couldn't resist trying to find out if there was a budding love affair between the stars when Tom stopped by the radio studios on Friday morning.
Though Tom did admit a Huey helicopter ride with Brie over a sunlit ocean was 'one of the great gigs'.
The Eton-educated actor, who has been tipped as a possible replacement for Daniel Craig as James Bond, told The Chris Evans Breakfast Show: 'Brie Larson and I got to go in the island of Oahu in Hawaii, at four o'clock in the afternoon, with no doors on the helicopter, the blades running..'
Chris interjected and jokingly said: 'Brie Larson sitting next to you, that must have been terrible.'

EXCLUSIVE: Tom Hiddleston spotted in 'meeting with 007 director Sam Mendes'... fuelling speculation he's set to play James Bond
DAILY MAIL
By EMILY SHERIDAN FOR MAILONLINE

He won over even more fans with his performance as suave Jonathan Pine in TV hit The Night Manager.
And now it looks like Tom Hiddleston could be even closer to replacing Daniel Craig in the role of James Bond after he was spotted at the same venue as the franchise's film-maker.
A source told MailOnline how the actor was spotted at London's Soho House: Dean Street on Wednesday, with 007 director Sam Mendes.
Sam has helmed two Bond films in recent years, but also has non-007 interests, having recently announced he will direct and produce The Voyeur's Motel, adapted from Gay Talese's novel.
Tom, 35, has been one of the names in the frame to replace Daniel, who has played the suave MI6 agent since Casino Royale 10 years ago.
Although Daniel, 48, or producers haven't confirmed the actor has retired the role, there has been a flurry of speculation in recent months.
Last week, Tom played down the rumours, telling chat show host Graham Norton: 'The thing is the position isn't vacant as far as I am aware. No one has talked to me about it.
'I think the rumours have all come about because in the Night Manager I play a spy and people have made the link.'

Henry Cavill new James Bond: Superman actor being groomed as the next 007?
CHRISTIAN TODAY
Snooky Grawls 27 June 2015

It is that time once again for Ian Fleming's James Bond character where the search for a new actor to play 007 is up in the air.
Daniel Craig is the current one portraying the British Super Spy and word around is that the one likely to succeed him is Henry Cavill.
Should Cavill indeed be blessed of taking over from Craig, it will mark the first time that an actor with high regard would be chosen to play the role.
Previous actors who took on the role of 007 were virtual unknowns. In fact, portraying James Bond was seen as a springboard for their career.
Among the actors who previously played James Bond include Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Craig.
So will Cavill be up to the task?
For the record, Cavill had auditioned for the role before. This was back in 2005 when he tried out together with Daniel Craig. At that time, producers felt he was too young for the role (he was only 22 years old at the time) so Craig eventually got the part.
After 10 years and Cavill having a following of his own, all that has changed. He has the age and most importantly the looks that James Bond had always been associated with, a lady's man if you will.
So does this make him a shoe-in to be the next 007?
While that remains up in the air, Cavill is set to debut in another remake – The Man from U.N.C.L.E which is set to debut this coming August. The upcoming film may somehow help critics if Cavill is fit to be the next James Bond, being a spy-themed movie.

Rosamund Pike as Bond? Ed Miliband is the man with the Midas touch
THE GUARDIAN
Anne Perkins
April 1, 2015

Pierce Brosnan and Rosamund Pike in Die Another Day. 'Pike has also been a Bond girl. This idea is the stuff of dreams.' Photograph: Sportsphoto Ltd/Allstar
The election campaign can stop here. There is not going to be a better idea. The Labour leader, Ed Miliband, thinks Rosamund Pike should be the next Bond. This is, simply, the perfect proposal – perfect for Bond and incidentally pretty good as a piece of political positioning, all the better for looking like the sort of off-the-cuff idea you would like your prime minister to be capable of having.
Pike is surely out in front as the actor of her generation. Most recently she was in Gone Girl as the woman who sat down and invented her life and also her husband’s; plausible, irresistible and icily cruel as she plotted the perfect revenge.
She was beautiful and funny in Lynn Barber’s wonderful film, An Education, in which she pulled off the even trickier feat of being thick too. She’s as brilliant on stage. Her genius was first confirmed to me when I saw her in the title role of the weird Madame de Sade at the Donmar Warehouse, subtly commanding attention even alongside Judi Dench.

Describing her like that makes her sound a bit overqualified for Bond. But Daniel Craig’s Bond is a more intelligent, nuanced creation than his predecessors, and the franchise would not be half as successful if it did not mature to keep pace with the more complex and demanding thrillers out there in the market. Pike could raise the bar. Or not. Stay with it, Sam Mendes, please.

There is, purists will argue, the gender thing. So far, the feminist revolution has been largely limited to comics. We pointed out last week that there is a thing going on in that world with feminist superheroes. If Thor can be a woman, so can Bond. (Idris Elba could obviously be Bond too, but that is a different piece).
What would be dazzlingly transformative about Pike as Bond is the effect on the mental landscape. The whole James Bond proposition is constructed around the idea of women as throwaway accessories, baubles recruited exclusively for what they say about Bond himself. It is true that Craig’s Bond has occasionally shown an approach marginally more evolved than the caveman, but still women are there – except Dench, who is M as in Mother – purely instrumentally.
Pike’s Bond would turn the whole premise on its head. Even better, she would do it completely differently. Pike as Bond would obviously be smart enough to crack a cypher, tough enough to withstand being doused repeatedly in icy water, and ruthless enough to make use as necessary of her licence to kill. While retaining the capacity to make dry asides about the gruesome fate of her enemies, she would not be casually exploitative of the people around her, or if she was, then only because it was a necessary, if nasty, aspect of her character, rather than on the basis of their gender, race, creed etc. Also, she has been a Bond girl. This is the stuff of dreams.

The name's Elba. Idris Elba: Leaked Sony emails reveal boss Amy Pascal wants British actor to be James Bond
THE DAILY MAIL

British actor Idris Elba could become the next James Bond, according to leaked Sony emails.
Elba, 42, who has starred in The Wire and Luther, could replace Daniel Craig as the next 007 when his contract ends after the next film, if leaked emails are to be believed.
Sony Pictures co-chairman Amy Pascal allegedly told a top executive at Columbia Pictures, which distributes the Bond films, that 'Idris should be the next bond'.
It is latest piece of information to emerge from the Sony hacking scandal, which resulted in the cancelling of the Christmas Day release of The Interview.
Hackers threatened 9/11-style terrorist attacks on cinemas showing the comedy about two journalists – played by actors James Franco and Seth Rogen – who are recruited by the CIA to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
The federal government confirmed on Wednesday that North Korea was behind the massive hack of Sony, which saw thousands of internal emails leaked.
According to the Daily Beast, an email sent on January 4 from Ms Pascal to Elizabeth Cantillon,
former executive vice president of production for Columbia Pictures, simply said: 'Idris should be the next bond (sic).'
If Elba, from Hackney, east London, did follow in Daniel Craig's footsteps, he would become the first black James Bond. Previous actors to portray 007 on the big screen include Pierce Brosnan, Roger Moore and Sean Connery.
Many have voiced support for Elba to play the British spy, including actor Jamie Foxx who said in an interview earlier this year that he was a big fan of the idea.
Elba himself has also previously expressed desire to play the British spy, telling website Reddit that he would take the role.
'Yes. if it was offered to me, absolutely,' he said.

'James Bond 24' Movie Rumors: Tom Hardy Tops The List Of Replacements For The Next Actor To Take Over The Iconic Role [VIDEO]

on Aug 28, 2014 03:17 PM EDT

While Daniel Craig is set to keep the role of James Bond for the next two movies, it seems like the actor may move on from the role after his contract runs up, but could a movie villain be taking over the role after him?
It seems like The Dark Knight Rises and Mad Max: Road Fury star Tom Hardy may be the actor at the top of the list of James Bond replacements, according to Celebrity Ex news posted on Sunday. The video added that Hardy will be the right age by the time Craig's contract runs up.
It would be an inspired choice since Hardy has experience both with action, leading a franchise, and blockbuster films. The British actor has been in Christopher Nolan's Inception and The Dark Knight Rises, has been action ready in Warrior, and will be taking over his own franchise with Mad Max next year.

Sienna Miller Justifies "I Love You" Comment to Daniel Craig, Kate Moss' Shocking Involvement
E.ONLINE
January 31, 2014
by LILY HARRISON

More juicy tidbits continue to unfold in a British court regarding Jude Law's phone-hacking scandal.
This time, proceedings at the Old Bailey in London further discussed intimate details about Sienna Miller's alleged affair with Daniel Craig.
The blonde took the stand via satellite from New Orleans on Friday, Jan. 31, and was shown sitting next to an FBI agent.
The Brit actress was asked about the voicemail message that she left for the James Bond actor in 2005.
Miller was in a relationship with Law at the time, and reportedly told Craig: "Hi, it's me. I can't speak, I'm at the Groucho with Jude. I love you."
The 32-year-old star explained, "The thing that's been slightly misconstrued about this voicemail message is that I said 'I love you' and that this was some incredibly important declaration of love. I've always ended my calls to Daniel saying 'I love you.'"
Miller was questioned as to whether or not she was carrying on a relationship with Craig the same time that she was dating Law. "Whether or not I was in a relationship with Daniel Craig, it was not a relationship, it was a very brief encounter, and he was my best friend," she explained to the court.
"My saying 'I love you,' whether anything romantic happened briefly or not, there was nothing significant."

Jude Law says in court he didn't know family member sold his stories to NOTW
INDEPENDENT
JAMES CUSICK
Monday 27 January 2014

One of Britain’s leading actors has said he was unaware that the News of the World had paid a member of his family for inside information on his private life.
Jude Law told the hacking trial at the Old Bailey that the first time he had learned that a family member had allegedly sold information to the now-closed News International tabloid was “today”.
The multiple academy award-nominated actor, famous for his roles in The Talented Mr Ripley and recently alongside Robert Downey Jnr in the highly successful Sherlock Holmes films, gave evidence to the court on the period of time when he discovered his former girlfriend and fellow actor, Sienna Miller, was having an affair with the James Bond star, Daniel Craig.
Prior to being questioned about the Miller-Craig affair, Mr Law told the court that when police investigating hacking inside the NOTW had first contacted him, he was “shocked” to find how much information the paper’s specialist private investigator, Glen Mulcaire, had gathered about him.
Mr Mulcaire had pleaded guilty to hacking-related charges earlier in the trial’s progress.

Ralph Fiennes Has ‘No Information’ On New James Bond Film

THE GLOBAL DISPATCH
By Brandon Jones
December 30, 2013
Bond 24 is moving forward with few to no details. Even star Ralph Fiennes has no idea what his character M will be doing or dates for production to begin.
He told the New York Daily News: “I know nothing, I’ve not been told anything.”
Ignorance is bliss, but will aggravate fans.
“I have no information, no dates, no sense of the journey of my character at all! I don’t!”
Fiennes starred as Gareth Mallory in Skyfall and was promoted to M, replacing Judi Dench when she was killed in the film.
The actor has said previously it wasn’t a secret that he would be taking over the part, leading to a larger role in Bond 24.

American fans vote Sir Sean Connery UK’s best ever movie actor

SCOTTISH EXPRESS

Published: Sun, October 27, 2013
The 83-year-old James Bond star beat younger actors such as Daniel Craig and Benedict Cumberbatch to clinch the top spot.
The results, published for the first time by the Q Scores Company of New York, ranks Edinburgh-born Sir Sean the top-rated British film star and among the top 10 Hollywood actors ever.
Film studios usually pay huge fees to obtain Q Score charts, based on US opinion polls held every six months. But the firm has decided to make public their latest “Brit Q” rankings, revealing that Sir Sean, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Liam Neeson are
Britain’s most popular film actors with US audiences.
Henry Schafer, executive vice president at the Q Scores Company, said: “Awareness of Sean Connery and his appeal was strong across the country and with all age groups.
“Though not working so much in recent years he has already transcended the normal run of actors in the way people felt about him.”
Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst with Rentrak, a film consultancy, said: “Young men still want to be Sean Connery’s James Bond.

Tom Hardy To Make a Billion Panties Drop as James Bond
HECKLER SPRAY
By Jess Goodwin - September 18, 2013

Though Daniel Craig is still alive and well and will continue his double life as 007 in the next two James Bond movies, rumors have been going around this week that Tom Hardy will take over once Craig steps down from the martini throne.
“Tom is right at the top of the wish list. He’s been approached to gauge his interest and he’s keen,” an anonymous source reported. If it’s true, great! I love Tom Hardy. He’s a talented actor with very nice lips. I’m sure he’d do a bang-up job, and I can totally see him doing the whole “Bond… James Bond” thing in his Bane voice. (Do they actually still say that? I’ve only ever seen Skyfall…)The source added:
”He is a respected actor with a great catalogue of films but most importantly he’s the type of guy that all men want to be like and all women want to be with. He’s perfect Bond material.”

VOTE here in the BBC America, Anglopheia, TOURNAMENT OF BRITISH MEN 2013

Before anyone panics, Benedict Cumberbatch has made our Round of 16 in our tournament of Anglophile fan favorites. But the odds-on favorite to winning it all was less than one percentage point from being out in the first round, which would unquestionably have been the greatest upset in the three years we’ve run this feature.
Our takeaway? Never underestimate the enduring devotion of Richard Armitage fans, who have, each year, impressed us with their amazing mobilization in support of their hero. They almost pulled off the unthinkable in testing the Cumberbabes. So there’s no shame for Armitage in his defeat: he’ll be a formidable presence for years to come.

Benedict Cumberbatch Wants To 'Transform' His Body BY CLAIRE RUTTER ON JUNE 19, 2013 (E.)
Star Trek Into Darkness star Benedict Cumberbatch has admitted that he wants to "transform" his body so that he can play an action hero, and have a 'Daniel Craig' moment.
The 36-year-old, who underwent a bit of a body transformation to take on the role of John Harrison in JJ Abrams' latest Star Trek movie, has revealed that he's keen for a James Bond-style physique.
"I'd love to transform my body into some ridiculous war machine," he said, according to TV Magazine. "I want to run around a desert shooting guns at aliens and looking as if I barely have to take a breath."

He also added: "I would love to do all that sh*t. I definitely want my Daniel Craig moment!"
Even though Benedict is due to finish off filming the third series of Sherlock, it sounds as if he's caught the bug for a muscly physique, after his stint in Star Trek.
"Star Trek is, to all intents and purposes, an action movie as much as it is a sci-fi drama, so that involved a hell of a lot of training and long hours," he said. "I had to put weight on, so I'd eat 4,000 calories a day. I went up four suit sizes at one point - it was hard work but a lot of fun."
During the press conference for Star Trek Into Darkness, he explained that gaining the weight and working out was the "hardest thing" about filming the movie "as it meant a lot of eating in a very short space of time and a lot of working out".

Rory Kinnear approached by BBC to play new Doctor Who LIKE THIS ARTICLE4By Mathew Wace Peck (DIGITAL JOURNAL)
Rory Kinnear has been offered the coveted part of the Twelfth Doctor in the BBC's 50-year-old science-fiction drama series, it has been claimed.
early last week Radio Times claimed that an announcement concerning the casting of the new Doctor would be made soon. Then, on Friday, the BBC tried to quash rumours that they'd already chosen their man or woman.
However, the Sunday Telegraph claims today that "the role of the 12th Time Lord has been offered to Rory Kinnear". "He has been offered the part and [the BBC] are waiting to hear if he will accept," Mandrake asserts in the British broadsheet newspaper.
Kinnear is well known for his recurring role in the recent Daniel Craig James Bond movies, playing an MI6 officer, Bill Tanner. He first appeared as Tanner in Craig's second 007, Quantum of Solace, and returned in Skyfall.
Only last month, and before the BBC announced that Smith was to leave Doctor Who, Kinnear himself denied that he was being lined up to play the Doctor, saying he'd never even watched the show, and that, “I think I’m being used as a decoy on that front ... It’s the first I’ve heard!”

HENRY CAVILL: Henry Cavill in Glamour UK Magazine (from Henry Cavill Website)

Henry Cavill is featured in the June issue of Glamour UK where he talks about landing the role of Superman, getting acting advice from Russell Crowe and addresses rumours once again about the Fifty Shades of Grey movie.
On getting the role of Superman Henry said, "For a guy, it's pretty much the most awesome moment you can imagine."
On rumours he will be in the Fifty Shades of Grey film: "Put it this way, I've not read a script, spoken to a producer or a director."
On nudity: "I'm not a big fan of getting naked for the sake of it. I wouldn't use a body double, because I'm particular about the physicality of acting, but I won't just get my arse out because people are insisting I do."
Read the complete article in the scans below for more.

Having lost the role of Harry Potter’s Cedric Diggory to Robert Pattinson, Twilight’s Edward Cullen once again to Pattinson, and James Bond to Daniel Craig, Henry was beginning to be known as “the unluckiest man in Hollywood”.
On the day we meet, in a beachside fish bar on a sunny LA afternoon, Henry looks anything but unlucky. He doesn’t much look like a bridesmaid (another nickname the industry press lumbered him with) either, although with his chiseled jaw, cleft chin and mass of dark curls, he’s pretty enough to be one. No, today, Henry is definitely the bride — Vera Wang gown, eight-tiered wedding cake and all. “It would have to be an alternative wedding,” he chuckles. “A blue-tights-wearing wedding.”
The secrecy shrouding the film is such that Henry is unable to say much about the Man of Steel’s new incarnation (he wasn’t even allowed to send pictures of himself in costume to his parents), but early promotional trailers have shocked fans, revealing, as they do, two crucial omissions: the kiss curl and the red trunks. “lt’s a new take on him,” laughs Henry. “Nobody has a kiss curl any more, and those shorts were derived from turn-of-the-century strong men, so we decided he could do without them.”
He still laughs about the moment the call came in from director Zack Snyder. “I was playing an online computer game, which you couldn’t pause or save, so I thought, ‘Maybe I’ll let it ring.’ Then I look down at the last minute and see Zack’s name, so I dive for it — and I just miss it.” When Henry did finally reach the director, and Zack casually asked him whether he fancied “doing a little movie with me”, Henry “wanted to explode. But you have to play it cool, you know? Although not so cool that you seem unappreciative. Then I put the phone down and there was this moment of surreal silence while I stood there and thought: ‘Did I just get a call saying, ‘You’re now Superman’?”

Pierce Brosnan Says He Was Not Invited to Oscars James Bond Tribute (SHOWBIZ 411)
By Paula Schwartz
“No one invited me.” Pierce Brosnan is setting the record straight about this year’s Oscars the James Bond tribute. He told me this at the junket at the Waldorf Astoria Monday afternoon for his new movie “Love is All You Need.” (Later that evening he attended the Barbra Streisand tribute at Lincoln Center.)
“I was at the market, which I go to every Sunday and one of these chappies from TMZ said, ‘So Pierce, are you going to be there?’ I said, ‘Well I’m not going to be there. No one invited me.’ I didn’t even say no one invited me. I said, ‘I don’t think I’ll be there. It’s another man’s job.’ It got blown into something else.
Anyway it became I snubbed them. I didn’t. I didn’t’ get invited.”
Pierce Brosnan, who will turn 60 in May, is still as charming and handsome as he was when he played 007.
The women journalists – as well as a few of the men – were smitten by the Irishmen’s charm and warmth. He was passionate about talking about his new film, sang a little – off key – when told the movie is sort of “Mamma Mia” without the music, and at the end of the roundtable heartily embraced a woman who told him her husband had recently died of a heart attack.
Brosnan wore a white shirt, a few buttons undone, and a dark, tailored suit. His waist looks like it’s still 32 inches.
“Love is All You Need,” is a romance directed by Danish filmmaker Susanne Bier, whose last film in 2010, “In a Better World,” received an Academy Award for best foreign film. Brosnan plays a work obsessed Englishman and lacking father, a widower living in Denmark, who falls for Ida (Trine Dyrholm), a Danish hairdresser, who is battling breast cancer and who has just been dumped by her husband.
She and Brosnan’s character meet at the airport-parking garage where she accidentally rams into his car; coincidentally they are both off to the Amalfi Coast to attend the wedding of his son and her daughter.
Underneath her wig Ida is completely bald. It was originally called “The Baldheaded Dresser” Brosnan said, “and remained that in Denmark, which is so blunt, truthful, honest, up front, but I don’t think it would fly here.”
Another thing that would be lost in translation if made here is the story, which is very European in sensibility. Could this movie have been made here, Brosnan was asked? “The studio would have just hammered this to death. Executives would have gone in there with their little kind of moral values and cut the balls out if.” He added, “Their shortcomings are evident in the produce that they present to the great American public in the guise of romantic comedies, which are rather thin and they don’t have any real bite or humanity or substance.”
