Henry Cavill - VIDEO: The incredible official Batman V Superman trailer is here

SUNDAY EXPRESS

Superman vs Batman

Hackers really are the bane of the entertainment industry.

No sooner has some spoilsport leaked the first four episodes on the new series of Game of Thrones, than a grainy pirated copy of the Batman V Superman trailer hit the internet.

In response, the filmmakers had no choice but to release the official trailer days earlier than anticipated.

Fans have been scrambling to get their first glimpse of Ben Affleck as Batman taking on Henry Cavill’s Superman in 2016’s biggest blockbuster. And things are not looking good for Clark Kent. He may have saved the world from the evil plans of General Zod, but Superman still isn’t exactly getting a hero’s welcome.

This is post-modern superhero territory, after all. Now you are just as likely to be seen as a threat than as a saviour.

The trailer opens with cries of “Alien!” and “This is our planet”, voices raised in fear and anger.

Conflicting voices argue that he is trying to help or that he is out of control and bring up the age-old quote, ‘Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.’

There is a Messianic image of Superman floating and backlit by the sun before rising chants of “Go home, go home, go home” accompany an image of a fallen statue scrawled with the words, “FALSE GOD.”

Tom Hardy dons Bane-esque mask as he fights for his life alongside bald Charlize Theron in new trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road

 DAILY MAIL
By DANIEL VAN BOOM FOR DAILY MAIL AUSTRALIA
PUBLISHED: 18:22 EST, 23 February 2015 | UPDATED: 18:47 EST, 23 February 2015

The newest trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road sees Tom Hardy don some familiar accessories as he's trapped in a bane-esque mask

He's most well known as Bane in Batman: Dark Knight Rises, and it seems the key to Tom Hardy's success is a good mask.

The 37-year-old English actor is seen in a new trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road and it appears as though he'll spend much of the blockbuster film trapped in a heavy Bane-like mask.

Playing the titular character, Tom is seen literally fighting his way through a world of danger as he's joined on screen by the likes of Natalie Portman and Nicholas Hoult.

'My world is fire and blood,' he says at the beginning of the trailer as he overlooks a desert wasteland.

It's unfortunately not long before Max finds himself captured, bound to a stake tied to a villainous crew's vehicle.

One explosion later the soft spoken hero uses the stake to pole vault his way from his captors, as a gang of girls led by Charlize Theron's character Imperator Furiosa head towards the chaos.

'Out here everything hurts. Take what you can and run' she says to her group.

From there all hell breaks loose, with flashes of intense vehicular combat and a healthy dose of Tom Hardy action.

It all crescendos to a scene of fiery tornadoes, with Mad Max clinging to life at the centre.

Fleeing with style: One explosion later the soft spoken hero uses the stake to pole vault his way from his captors

Giving Michael Caine the Props He Deserves

MOVIE PILOT
by Simon Hardy Butler ⋅ Posted on December 4th, 2014 at 12:59am

The best thing about Interstellar, in my opinion, was Michael Caine. So why aren't more people talking about his performance?

Even if you haven't seen the movie, it's worth listening to him recite selected lines from Dylan Thomas' poem "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night," which may be found in at least one of the trailers. I've included one below.

He's magnificent, isn't he? What a professional. And he elevated this film significantly, though it needed all he could muster.

I'm thinking an Oscar nod wouldn't be out of the question. But are Academy voters doing the same?

Christian Bale the frontrunner to play Steve Jobs in Aaron Sorkin's biopic

E Entertainment

Christian Bale

It's been in gestation for some time, but now it looks like the long-awaited Aaron Sorkin-scripted, Danny Boyle-directed biopic of Steve Jobs has found its man.

Batman, to be precise. (groan)

Christian Bale is close to signing a deal to play the founder of Apple, beating out competition including Bradley Cooper, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

According to reports, Bale is currently in negotiations for another film which have stalled, allowing Bale to consider the role.

Gone Girl's David Fincher was initially attached to direct the as-yet untitled Jobs biopic, but dropped out due to issues over creative control and his fee.

Meanwhile, Aaron Sorkin's HBO series The Newsroom enters its third and final season after the show was unceremoniously dropped from the station after a dismal first season and a slightly-improved second season.

Initial thoughts? Bale is a solid actor and he's known for total immersion in whatever role he takes on. He's never going to half-arse it so we can be sure that he'll be giving it socks.

What Happened To Christian Bale's Ass On The Set Of The Machinist Is Horrifying

CINEMA BLEND
BY GREGORY WAKEMAN  2014-10-09 12:01:33

What Happened To Christian Bale's Ass On The Set Of The Machinist Is Horrifying image

Christian Bale’s dedication to his craft is legendary. Not only did he bulk up to play Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, but he also fattened up for his role in American Hustle and famously lost a borderline unhealthy amount of weight in order to play Trevor Reznik in 2004’s The Machinist. However it turns out that we only knew the half of the turmoil that Bale went through in order to play the aforementioned character, and his co-star, Michael Ironside, has now revealed that his ass took most of the punishment.

Ironside made the revelation during a Reddit question-and-answer session, and his story made for pretty grim reading. After being asked what it was like to work with Bale, Ironside decided to recall a story from the production of The Machinist that involved him taking a long, hard look at the Welsh actor’s rear-end. I’ll let Ironside take up the reins at this point …

"I remember on The Machinist,I came to work one day, and we were shooting in Barcelona, Spain, and our trailers were these little Spanish 2-wheeled cabanas that were parked in front of this actual working machine shop. And I heard "pssst...Michael!" from behind one of the cabanas.

And I went over, and it was Chris. And he said, "Can you look at this?" And he turned and dropped his overalls, which he was naked under. And he had lost an INCREDIBLE amount of weight for the character. And he said "Michael, there's something wrong with my ass, can you have a look?" And the muscles in his ass had literally dropped out of the sockets of his hips. The dignity of the muscles, his ass had literally dropped out of the hips and thigh bones. And I said, "Hey Chris, your ass has dropped." And he said, "What do you mean?" And I said, "You've stopped losing body fat, and now you're actually losing elasticity of muscles" - I forget the exact medical term for it, but I said, "You've gone beyond body fat, and now you're into actual muscle tissue and things are being affected."

And he turned - I wasn't sure how he was going to react - and he turned, and said, "Cool"

Christian Bale: Study Cites Biblical Accuracy as Most Important Factor in 'Exodus: Gods and Kings' Movie's Success

THE GOSPEL HERALD
By SHAWN SCHUSTER (NEWS@GOSPELHERALD.COM)
Oct 06, 2014

Exodus: Gods and Kings

Faith-based films are rising in popularity this year, but a recent study shows that these movies may not be automatic money-makers from a Christian audience.

Faith Driven Consumer, an advocate group that specializes in measuring the habits and behaviors of American Christian consumers, released the first wave of its newest study showing that Biblical accuracy plays the biggest role in determining whether an American Christian is likely to see a faith-based movie.

In particular, the poll's data shows that 74 percent of American adults -- Christian and non-Christian -- are likely to see the upcoming Exodus: Gods and Kings film only if it is Biblically accurate.

The movie, scheduled to hit theaters on December 12, stars Christian Bale as Moses and Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul as Joshua in an interpretation of the Hebrew exodus from Egypt's captivity.

Just how much creative freedom was given to the writing team is yet to be seen, but if the disastrous reception of Russell Crowe's Noah film from earlier this year is any indication, Christian fans may be wary.

TOM HIDDLESTON MIGHT BE IN 'BATMAN V. SUPERMAN' AS YOUR FAVORITE VILLAIN

BUSTLE
By Alanna Bennett  @alannabennett 22 hours ago

Hoooooly cow. Holy cow. Are you ready? Tumblr isn’t ready for this news, and frankly neither am I: Tom Hiddleston’s being rumored for Batman V. Superman. As the Joker. Emily Blunt is being rumored for Catwoman. I’m gonna need a moment to gather myself.

This is still a rumor that you should take with multiple grains of sand — like at least a small beach of sand. It could very well be that this is just being spread because of how popular Hiddleston’s turn as Loki in Thor and The Avengers was: After that performance it’s not that hard him taking a more manic turn as the Joker. It follows, then, that if someone was like “Let’s start a rumor today! Who’d be good as the Joker?” that his name would come up.

'Man of Steel 2' aka 'Batman Vs Superman' Rumored Plot Spoilers: Henry Cavill Character Clark Kent to Die, Metallo & Lex Luther Villian?

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS TIMES
By Sonalee singh | May 8, 2014 7:25 AM EST

"Man of Steel 2" aka "Batman vs Superman" is the most awaited film in the fantasy fiction genre. Since the production of film has begun various rumors regarding the plot of the film have splurged online. The recent rumors suggest that "Man of Steel 2" aka "Batman vs Superman" will see the death of Clark Kent's alter ego.  Though there is no confirmation to the plot rumors, various discussions on the online forums have heightened the curiosity around the film. Take a look at the some of the rumoured "Man of Steel 2" plot spoilers as compiled by Moviepilot,

Metallo could be the major villain apart from Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). The rumors further suggest that Metallo will also be responsible for Henry Cavill's character's (Clark Kent) alleged death. There is no official confirmation here but Metallo could posses Kryptonian power source, which will make him a powerful anti hero. Another rumor says that Superman will be in exile for most of his time in "Man of Steel 2".

Apparently, Superman played by Henry Cavill will be devastated after the destruction of metropolis. Lex Luther and Batman will go in search of Superman. Lex Luther wants to end Superman where as Batman decides to save Superman. These are just the rumors as the maker of the film Zack Snyder is making sure that nothing regarding the movie is leaked till the time it hit the theaters. Recently, Ben Affleck's wife Jennifer Garner came under fire for unknowingly leaking a bit of details regarding the Batsuit.

"I have gotten in some trouble for my little quotes and I'm learning to [keep my mouth shut]," explained Garner during an interview with Collider. "I thought that I was saying things that were foregone conclusions and it turns out nothing is, and you won't be hearing from me on the Batman front [again]."

Henry Cavill: How Superhero Movies Are Saving Hollywood

TIME MAGAZINE
Eric Dodds @doddsef  12:37 PM ET

"Man Of Steel" World Premiere - Outside Arrivals

It’s hard to believe that not long ago, the movie industry wasn’t completely dominated by superhero franchises. Big-budget blockbusters have always received the most attention and the largest audiences, but as recently as 10 or 15 years ago, the form wasn’t a sea of mutants and masked crime-fighters. These days, it seems like studios think they need a superhero franchise just to keep up with the competition (when Sony rebooted Spider-Man in 2012, many believed they did so to avoid losing the rights to the character). Warner Bros. did little to dispel that notion on Sunday night, confirming that a Justice League film had been greenlit for a likely release in either 2017 or 2018.

The movie, which would be the second sequel to last summer’s Man of Steel (the tentatively titled Superman vs. Batman is slated for 2016), will feature Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and, undoubtedly, countless others (Matt Damon?!). It’s merely the latest development in the ongoing arms race between Warner, Marvel (The Avengers), Sony (Spider-Man) and Fox (X-Men). After the enormous success of The Avengers in 2012, it became apparent that one titular superhero wouldn’t be sufficient for record-breaking box office draws — and studios were likely further emboldened by the warm critical reception that Joss Whedon’s star-studded film received.

Henry Cavill: Batman vs Superman Rumors: Release Date Being Moved Up?

EPOCH TIMES
By Zachary Stieber, Epoch Times | March 16, 2014

Superman (Henry Cavill) in the action-adventure film “Man of Steel.” (Clay Enos/Warner Bros. Pictures)

The Batman vs Superman release date may be moved up so that it’s not directly competing with a film believed to be Captain America 3.

Sources told Brazilian website Judao that Warner Bros’ Brazil is planning to release the movie, which is supposed to get a new name at some point, on April 28, 2016, and that the movie would be released in the United States a day later.

That would move Batman vs Superman one week ahead of the release date that was announced a while ago and would also put it a week ahead of Captain America 3 on May 6, 2016. Insiders believe that’s the movie pegged for that date but it hasn't been confirmed.

Marvel originally had a movie planned for that date before Batman vs Superman was moved back from a summer 2015 release date due to problems.

The rumors aren’t confirmed.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, meanwhile, told Slash Film that Marvel has no intention of moving its release date.

“We’re certainly keeping the date there and we’ll announce what that movie is, I assume, in the next few months,” he said.

The announcement could come at Comic-Con, which is in a couple months.

It's a scene that Tom Hardy fans the world over could only dream of.

But the 36-year-old actor will undoubtedly have made female hearts flutter after starring in a sexy new Stand Up To Cancer campaign on behalf of Cancer Research UK.

Displaying his toned torso and rather extensive tattoo collection, the Inception star went shirtless as he grimaced while running through a dramatic cloud of smoke towards the camera.

Wearing merely a towelling navy blue dressing gown and cute plaid boxers, the bearded British hunk appeared to have sprung straight out of bed as he hot-footed it down the street as the camera shot away.

I mean not literally, I’ve never seen Tom Hardy’s balls, just for the record. We worked together in Black Hawk Down and he’s a gamer, he’s always up for it, he’s fearless and he’s really fun to watch as well. Christian Bale's mum reveals heartbreak of feud which means they haven't spoken for SIX YEARS

Estranged: Christian Bale with his mother Jenny and his wife Sibi

The heartbroken mum of Hollywood superstar Christian Bale today begs him to end their bitter six-year feud as he stands on the brink of Oscar glory.

Jenny, 66, has not spoken to her famous son since she and his sister Sharon fell out with him at a hotel on the eve of his Dark Knight premiere in 2008.

Police were called and the star – nominated last week for Best Actor in American Hustle – was arrested on suspicion of assault. It was claimed they rowed over money – something Jenny has always strongly denied.

Now, after years of sending her son emails in the hope he would get in touch, Jenny is desperate for a reunion before his landmark 40th birthday on Thursday.

Child star: Christian aged 14 with his mum and sisters at the Empire Of The Sun premiere

Until then, watching Christian’s hit films – from his big break at 11 years old in Empire Of The Sun and American Psycho through to the Batman epics – is the only way she can ease her heartache.

“I have them all,” she says with pride. “Every one he’s made. Then sometimes Christian will come up on TV in one of his films. I’ll be flicking through the channels and suddenly there he is, looking at me from the TV. I think, ‘Oh God’ and carry on watching.”

She went to see American Hustle – in which her son plays plays a fat, balding conman with two beauties fighting over him – at her local cinema in Bournemouth last week.

“I always go to see his films. I usually go on my own, but watched American Hustle with my neighbour,”  says Jenny.

Ben Affleck Curls Up With Lifeless Rosamund Pike in Gone Girl

Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Gone Girl

Gone Girl fans, get your first look at Nick and Amy Dunne.

Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, who portray the troubled married couple in the highly anticipated film adaptation of Gillian Flynn's thriller novel, are featured on the latest cover of Entertainment Weekly.

The eerie snapshot features the duo in a morgue, with Affleck curled up next to a lifeless but beautiful Pike. The 34-year-old British actress gazes wide-eyed at the ceiling and has an ID tag on her foot, while the 41-year-old Oscar winner holds her face and positions one of his legs on her sheet-wrapped body. A tray of tools to conduct an autopsy is featured next to the attractive duo.

Director David Fincher took the photograph for the magazine and came up with the mysterious idea.

Even if you read the book, don't expect the same twists and turns on the big screen.

Fincher, who adapted and directed Stieg Larsson's novel The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo in 2011, admitted that "we may have been too beholden to the source material."

"There was something thrilling about taking this piece of work that I'd spent about two years painstakingly putting together with all its eight million LEGO pieces and take a hammer to it and bash it apart and reassemble it into a movie," Flynn, a former EW writer, says.

Henry Cavill Gears Up To Reprise Role In ‘Batman Vs. Superman’

INQUISITOR
January 2, 2014

Henry Cavill is gearing up to reprise his role as Superman in the upcoming sequel to Man Of Steel, which is being called Batman Vs. Superman, at least for now.

Part of the filming will take place in Detroit, Michigan, and the city is anticipating a lot of celebrities and money to come in as the production gets underway in the coming weeks.

This is the ultimate geek fantasy come true as the caped crusader, Batman (Ben Affleck) faces off against the most popular do-good superhero, Superman (Henry Cavill).

The much talked about and anticipated film is still a mystery as far as what the script looks like, and at this point, there are more rumors than facts, but that doesn’t stop us from talking about it anyway.

What we know so far is that Zack Snyder is returning to helm this so-called sequel to Man Of Steel, which actually looks like anything but a sequel.

We also know that the studio has chosen Ben Affleck as our new Batman, after Christian Bale, who played the Dark Knight in the Christopher Nolan trilogy announced he will not play the role again.

Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley meet Bethany Weatherill, 11, and Play Nurse Sam Clarkson Pics: Sarah Caldecott

IT'S not every day that the North-East is touched by Hollywood stardom.

So when two A-list movie stars dropped in on a local hospice it certainly made for a Christmas to remember.

Film star Tom Hardy and his fiancee, the actress Charlotte Riley, spent more than an hour meeting and chatting with patients and staff when they called in at the Butterwick House Children's Hospice in Stockton, Teesside to hand over a cheque for £24,000.

The London-born star of Batman - The Dark Knight Rises and science fiction thriller Inception, 36, raised the money when he took part in an expedition in Siberia with Miss Riley's uncle, Peter Riley, who has been involved with the Hospice from the outset.

The couple, who met on the set of Wuthering Heights, enjoyed a tour of the hospice and met with 11-year-old patient Bethany Weatherill while in the region for a family Christmas.

Miss Riley, 31, who was born in Grindon, near Stockton and stars with Tom Cruise in the upcoming movie Edge of Tomorrow, said: "It must be really difficult for the families of the people and children who stay at the Hospice as they are all seriously ill, but they must take some consolation from the fact the all the staff are always really happy, friendly and devoted.
