Henry Cavill - VIDEO: The incredible official Batman V Superman trailer is here

SUNDAY EXPRESS
By STEFAN KYRIAZIS

Superman vs Batman

Hackers really are the bane of the entertainment industry.

No sooner has some spoilsport leaked the first four episodes on the new series of Game of Thrones, than a grainy pirated copy of the Batman V Superman trailer hit the internet.

In response, the filmmakers had no choice but to release the official trailer days earlier than anticipated.

Fans have been scrambling to get their first glimpse of Ben Affleck as Batman taking on Henry Cavill’s Superman in 2016’s biggest blockbuster. And things are not looking good for Clark Kent. He may have saved the world from the evil plans of General Zod, but Superman still isn’t exactly getting a hero’s welcome.

This is post-modern superhero territory, after all. Now you are just as likely to be seen as a threat than as a saviour.

The trailer opens with cries of “Alien!” and “This is our planet”, voices raised in fear and anger.

Conflicting voices argue that he is trying to help or that he is out of control and bring up the age-old quote, ‘Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.’

There is a Messianic image of Superman floating and backlit by the sun before rising chants of “Go home, go home, go home” accompany an image of a fallen statue scrawled with the words, “FALSE GOD.”

ROSAMUND PIKE OSCAR POSSIBLE? WHY 'GONE GIRL' STAR COULD GIVE REESE WITHERSPOON FIERCE COMPETITION AT 2015 AWARDS (PHOTOS)

Might Rosamund Pike earn herself a Best Actress trophy at the 2015 Oscars? While the 'Gone Girl' star is likely to get nominated, her chances of winning are up in the air.

Could Rosamund Pike win Best Actress at the 2015 Oscars? Reese Witherspoon's gripping performance in Wild has been dubbed the one to beat. And Jennifer Aniston's role in Cake is gaining momentum. But many critics say the Gone Girl actress shouldn't be dismissed just yet.

Rosamund Pike Ben Affleck Gone Girl

Just a few months ago, the average moviegoer wouldn’t recognize the name Rosamund Pike. But now the breakthrough star of Gone Girl is likely going to earn herself an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Her director, David Fincher, had some reservations about her casting, but they ultimately proved to be an advantage.

“Rosamund was someone that I had seen in four or five different movies over 10 years, and I never got a bead on her,” he said at the Gone Girl New York premiere. “I never got a sense of who she was. And I pride myself on being able to watch actors and sort of know instinctively what their utility belt is, and I don’t have that with Rosamund. I didn’t know what she was building off of. There was an opacity there and it was interesting.”

Henry Cavill Defends Detroit During Royal Marines Run In Gibraltar

INQUISITR
October 28, 2014

British actor Henry Cavill has called Detroit, Michigan home for the past six months and for the first time is talking about his experience in the Motor City. Cavill was in Gibraltar to participate in a run for a Royal Marines charity, an organization that provides assistance to past and present service members.

Taking a break from filming the Zack Snyder blockbuster Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Henry flew to Europe to participate in the Royal Marines 350th Anniversary Rock Run, climbing the massive Gibraltar staple. As always, the Brit has been spotted in several fan photos posted all over social media.

One of the actor’s many fansites, Henry Cavill News, sat down with the 31-year-old during his time in Gibraltar and asked him about his time in Detroit and what he really thinks about the place he’s called home for so many months.

“There are so many horror stories about Detroit, and Michigan, and none of them are true. I’ve really enjoyed it, actually.”

This is Henry Cavill’s second time visiting Detroit in the past few years. The actor, who played Superman/Clark Kent in Man of Steel is reprising his role, this time to face another superhero, Batman, played by Ben Affleck, who has also praised and promoted Detroit.

Christian Bale the frontrunner to play Steve Jobs in Aaron Sorkin's biopic

E Entertainment

Christian Bale

It's been in gestation for some time, but now it looks like the long-awaited Aaron Sorkin-scripted, Danny Boyle-directed biopic of Steve Jobs has found its man.

Batman, to be precise. (groan)

Christian Bale is close to signing a deal to play the founder of Apple, beating out competition including Bradley Cooper, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

According to reports, Bale is currently in negotiations for another film which have stalled, allowing Bale to consider the role.

Gone Girl's David Fincher was initially attached to direct the as-yet untitled Jobs biopic, but dropped out due to issues over creative control and his fee.

Meanwhile, Aaron Sorkin's HBO series The Newsroom enters its third and final season after the show was unceremoniously dropped from the station after a dismal first season and a slightly-improved second season.

Initial thoughts? Bale is a solid actor and he's known for total immersion in whatever role he takes on. He's never going to half-arse it so we can be sure that he'll be giving it socks.

Now she is a hot tip for an Oscar for her starring role in the smash-hit thriller Gone Girl, and, at 35, has become one of Hollywood’s hottest sex symbols.

Yet she has revealed that as a teenager she had doubts about playing Shakespeare’s tragic heroine because she had never been in love herself.

Rosamund Pike Dishes On Her 'Gone Girl' Sex Scene With Neil Patrick Harris

HUFF POST
By Curtis M. Wong
Posted: 10/02/2014 12:43 pm EDT Updated: 10/02/2014 12:59 pm EDT

Rosamund Pike dished about her upcoming sex scene with Neil Patrick Harris in the upcoming thriller "Gone Girl," which hits theaters Oct. 3.

The actress, 35, told Seth Meyers that preparing for the scene was "a very odd experience," noting that director David Fincher asked her and Harris to "rehearse this scene for two hours, alone, on an empty soundstage -- just Neil and myself."

"That is when it feels highly inappropriate," she added. "You're alone with a man who's not your husband who also has a husband ... he's in his underwear, you're in your underwear and you're sort of dry humping on a bed."

Harris, 41, tied the knot with husband David Burtka in Italy last month. He said the ceremony, which took place at a rented castle, was "less about a proclamation and more about a declaration that I was able to share in front of our kids, and that he could do back for me."

Gone Girl, review: Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike excel in David Fincher film

THE INDEPENDENT
GEOFFREY MACNAB  Author Biography   Monday 22 September 2014

David Fincher’s Gone Girl (which opens the New York Film Festival later this week) is an immensely slippery, deceptive affair - and that’s what makes it so pleasurable. It’s a story in which the manipulation of the main characters by one another is matched by that of the audience by the filmmakers. The rug is continually being pulled from under our feet.

Early on, Fincher seems to be offering us a hardboiled thriller about a husband, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck), suspected of murdering his wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike). Like Cary Grant in Suspicion or Laurence Olivier in Rebecca, he’s a charming man who may have a very dark side. As the film progresses, the Hitchcock touches are combined with wildly melodramatic flourishes and some very funny, very caustic satirical sideswipes at the American media’s prurient obsession with sex, marriage, death and celebrity.

Affleck and Pike excel as the happily (or not so happily) married couple. As Nick, Affleck gets to reprise his likeable, American everyman routine while also portraying someone with a sleazy and possibly murderous side.

English actress Pike, playing an over-achieving Ivy League woman, gives the performance of her screen career so far - one, that more than a decade after her appearance in the James Bond movie Die Another Day (2002), looks set to establish her as an international star. She captures her character’s Martha Stewart-like perfectionism and romantic notions about love as well as her relentless drive. She’s a complicated and contradictory personality. “Complicated is code for bitch,” one character acidly notes of her.

Henry Cavill: ‘Batman V Superman’ Will See Superman Answer For ‘Man Of Steel’ Destruction [SPOILERS]

INQUISITOR
August 23, 2014

It appears Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will address the much talked about destruction Superman laid on Metropolis following an epic battle with General Zod. Director Zack Snyder — who is at the helm of both films — was heavily criticized for the final scene of Man of Steel, which showed a city in ruins and turned off many fans.

If you remember, Superman (Henry Cavill) has finally had it with the vicious General Zod (Michael Shannon) and doesn’t hold back when the two meet in Metropolis, and the villain tries to destroy all that Superman holds dear, including his mother, Martha Kent (Diane Lane). An epic battle ensues and nobody is spared; buildings are destroyed and glass is shattered as the two superhumans fight it out.

Some spoilers may follow, so beware before you continue to read.

According to Batman News, the Washington, D.C. scene we will see in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is directly related to the havoc brought on by Superman’s fury. This is how the website describes the insider info they have:

“A major action scene was shot in July in one of the big studios in Detroit. Without giving too much away…it involves Superman and the United States Capitol building in Washington D.C. Superman will have to answer for what happened at the end of Man of Steel. Half the public blames him for all the death and destruction. If it wasn’t for Superman being there, General Zod would have never come to Earth.”

Take a look at the some of the rumoured "Man of Steel 2" plot spoilers as compiled by Moviepilot,

Metallo could be the major villain apart from Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). The rumors further suggest that Metallo will also be responsible for Henry Cavill's character's (Clark Kent) alleged death. There is no official confirmation here but Metallo could posses Kryptonian power source, which will make him a powerful anti hero. Apparently, Superman played by Henry Cavill will be devastated after the destruction of metropolis. Lex Luther and Batman will go in search of Superman. Henry Cavill: How Superhero Movies Are Saving Hollywood

TIME MAGAZINE
Eric Dodds @doddsef  12:37 PM ET

"Man Of Steel" World Premiere - Outside Arrivals

It’s hard to believe that not long ago, the movie industry wasn’t completely dominated by superhero franchises. Big-budget blockbusters have always received the most attention and the largest audiences, but as recently as 10 or 15 years ago, the form wasn’t a sea of mutants and masked crime-fighters. These days, it seems like studios think they need a superhero franchise just to keep up with the competition (when Sony rebooted Spider-Man in 2012, many believed they did so to avoid losing the rights to the character). Warner Bros. did little to dispel that notion on Sunday night, confirming that a Justice League film had been greenlit for a likely release in either 2017 or 2018.

The movie, which would be the second sequel to last summer’s Man of Steel (the tentatively titled Superman vs. Batman is slated for 2016), will feature Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and, undoubtedly, countless others (Matt Damon?!). It’s merely the latest development in the ongoing arms race between Warner, Marvel (The Avengers), Sony (Spider-Man) and Fox (X-Men). After the enormous success of The Avengers in 2012, it became apparent that one titular superhero wouldn’t be sufficient for record-breaking box office draws — and studios were likely further emboldened by the warm critical reception that Joss Whedon’s star-studded film received.

Henry Cavill: Batman vs Superman Rumors: Release Date Being Moved Up?

EPOCH TIMES
By Zachary Stieber, Epoch Times | March 16, 2014

Superman (Henry Cavill) in the action-adventure film “Man of Steel.” (Clay Enos/Warner Bros. Pictures)

The Batman vs Superman release date may be moved up so that it’s not directly competing with a film believed to be Captain America 3.

Sources told Brazilian website Judao that Warner Bros’ Brazil is planning to release the movie, which is supposed to get a new name at some point, on April 28, 2016, and that the movie would be released in the United States a day later.

That would move Batman vs Superman one week ahead of the release date that was announced a while ago and would also put it a week ahead of Captain America 3 on May 6, 2016. Insiders believe that’s the movie pegged for that date but it hasn't been confirmed.

Marvel originally had a movie planned for that date before Batman vs Superman was moved back from a summer 2015 release date due to problems.

The rumors aren’t confirmed.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, meanwhile, told Slash Film that Marvel has no intention of moving its release date.

“We’re certainly keeping the date there and we’ll announce what that movie is, I assume, in the next few months,” he said.

The announcement could come at Comic-Con, which is in a couple months.

Rosamund Pike shows off sculpted abs as she hits beach with boyfriend Robie Uniacke and son Solo

Sculpted: Rosamund Pike shows off her nicely toned abs during a day out in Hawaii on Monday

She’s braced for a return to the big screen in Ben Affleck’s cinematic adaptation of Gone Girl, the bestselling 2012 thriller by Gillian Flynn.

Stepping out in Hawaii this week, the only thing that appeared to be gone were Rosamund Pike’s clothes as she showed off a set of nicely sculpted abs.

The 35-year-old actress – a former Bond girl – has looked increasingly toned of late, and her recent outing in Southern California revealed the fruits of her healthy lifestyle as she padded across the sand in a pastel pink bikini.

Idling on the sand, the couple doted over their son, with Robie placing a hat on his head as Rosamund looked on.

The actress started dating the businessman, a twice married father of four, in December 2009, three years before announcing her pregnancy.

Eton educated Uniacke, a former heroin addict, was previously married to Emma Howard, 59, daughter of the late Earl of Carlisle with whom he has a son also called Robie.

The marriage ended unhappily and both checked into rehab clinics to deal with their addictions.
His second wife, Rose Batstone, is an interior designer with whom he has three children.

Rosamund Pike: ‘Gone Girl’ Movie Spoilers: 5 Things We Know About The Gillian Flynn Film Adaptation

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS TIMES
By Rebecka Schumann
on March 11 2014 2:33 PM

Gone Girl" Movie Still

“Gone Girl,” the film adaptation of the best-selling Gillian Flynn novel, has already wrapped filming, but fans of the popular crime/drama are still being kept in the dark regarding the upcoming feature. Despite being in post-production, the movie, which follows the tale of Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck), a journalist in the search of his missing wife, Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike), only a singular image of the feature showing Affleck doing his best impression of the fictional character has since been released.

Fortunately for fans that cannot wait for the film’s October 3, 2014 release, here are five other things we know about the upcoming David Fincher directed adaptation:

Already getting Oscar buzz

“Gone Girl” has yet to release a teaser, yet movie buffs are already giving the David Fincher film Oscar buzz. Could this Gillian Flynn adaptation earn itself an Academy Award statuette for best picture? The future remains to be seen for this crime/drama, but according to multiple film critics, the feature does have a shot for a nomination following Fincher’s “The Social Network” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” recognitions for directing.

A new third act

Despite Flynn already completing fictional characters Nick and Amy Dunne's story following the completion of the 2012 novel, the movie will reportedly use a different ending than the best-selling book. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly (her former employer) in January, Flynn revealed that as the film’s screenwriter she had been hired to write a new third act for the story’s silver screen debut, a proposition she appeared to be more than happy to fulfill. “There was something thrilling about taking this piece of work that I’d spent about two years painstakingly putting together with all its eight million LEGO pieces and take a hammer to it and bash it apart and reassemble it into a movie,” Flynn told the magazine.

Rosamund Pike beat out big names

Rosamund Pike, a native British actress, best known for her role in the 2012 Tom Cruise thriller “Jack Reacher,” has fame incomparable to the likes of Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman and Emily Blunt, but the 35-year-old film star reportedly beat out all the big name A-listers scoring the film's leading role of Amy Dunne. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Pike also trumped actors Abbie Cornish and Olivia Wilde to play the “Gone Girl” leading lady.

Henry Cavill

DETROIT, MI -- When work on the untitled "Batman vs. Superman" movie hits the home stretch this summer in Detroit, expect actor Henry Cavill to be elite-level physical condition.

The demands placed on an action hero in Cavill's line of work are like no other, according to The New York Times' report entitled "The Last, Disposable Action Hero."

Cavill, 6-foot-1, reportedly worked out with Gym Jones founder Mark Twight for five months before "Man of Steel" production started and packed on the pounds with a 5,000-calorie-a-day diet.

Cavill then, according to The New York Times, scaled back to 2,800 calories at the beginning of October 2011 to prepare him for two shirtless sequences in the film.

Expect him to follow a similar type of schedule, based on reports, that includes intense workouts up to six days a week.

There's speculation Cavill is already in Metro Detroit getting ready for the sequel. He was reportedly spotted last month at Motor City Cross Fit gym in Sterling Heights.

'Batman Vs Superman' has been delayed until 2016. The release date for the superhero blockbuster, which will see Henry Cavill reprise his role as Superman alongside Ben Affleck as Batman, has been pushed back by 10 months to allow filmmakers time to work on the ''nature of the story''.

A Warner Bros. spokesman told Total Film: ''We know that there is already great anticipation building for the next superhero film from Zack Snyder, and we are equally eager to see what he has in store for Superman and Batman as they share the big screen for the first time ever.'' The untitled 'Man of Steel' sequel, which is being directed by Zack Snyder, was originally slated for a summer 2015 release, but the date now stands at May 6, 2016.

Ben Affleck Curls Up With Lifeless Rosamund Pike in Gone Girl

Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Gone Girl

Gone Girl fans, get your first look at Nick and Amy Dunne.

Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, who portray the troubled married couple in the highly anticipated film adaptation of Gillian Flynn's thriller novel, are featured on the latest cover of Entertainment Weekly.

The eerie snapshot features the duo in a morgue, with Affleck curled up next to a lifeless but beautiful Pike. The 34-year-old British actress gazes wide-eyed at the ceiling and has an ID tag on her foot, while the 41-year-old Oscar winner holds her face and positions one of his legs on her sheet-wrapped body. A tray of tools to conduct an autopsy is featured next to the attractive duo.

Director David Fincher took the photograph for the magazine and came up with the mysterious idea.

Even if you read the book, don't expect the same twists and turns on the big screen.

Fincher, who adapted and directed Stieg Larsson's novel The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo in 2011, admitted that "we may have been too beholden to the source material."

"There was something thrilling about taking this piece of work that I'd spent about two years painstakingly putting together with all its eight million LEGO pieces and take a hammer to it and bash it apart and reassemble it into a movie," Flynn, a former EW writer, says.

INQUISITOR
January 2, 2014

Henry Cavill is gearing up to reprise his role as Superman in the upcoming sequel to Man Of Steel, which is being called Batman Vs. Superman, at least for now.

Part of the filming will take place in Detroit, Michigan, and the city is anticipating a lot of celebrities and money to come in as the production gets underway in the coming weeks.

This is the ultimate geek fantasy come true as the caped crusader, Batman (Ben Affleck) faces off against the most popular do-good superhero, Superman (Henry Cavill).

The much talked about and anticipated film is still a mystery as far as what the script looks like, and at this point, there are more rumors than facts, but that doesn’t stop us from talking about it anyway.

What we know so far is that Zack Snyder is returning to helm this so-called sequel to Man Of Steel, which actually looks like anything but a sequel.

We also know that the studio has chosen Ben Affleck as our new Batman, after Christian Bale, who played the Dark Knight in the Christopher Nolan trilogy announced he will not play the role again.

Batman Backlash: Fans Blast Bosses As Ben Affleck Is Confirmed To Replace Christian Bale As Dark Knight

Batman fans across the globe have been left angered today as Ben Affleck was confirmed to play the lead role in the 2015 sequel, taking over Christian Bale in the popular flick and sending the Twittersphere into chaos.

The actor whose film Argo has received critical acclaim, will star alongside Henry Cavill who will resume the role of Superman in the sequel which will see both of the iconic superheros in the same film.

Director Zack Snyder also added: "I can't wait to work with him."

However, it seems like Batman fans don't share the same view as the director (to put it politely!) with them taking to Twitter to voice their strong opinions on the whole thing and even calling for a "petition" to stop Affleck playing the upcoming role.

One Twitter user tweeted: "Ben Affleck as Batman? With that retarded look of his? Wow Hollywood, you idiots." (sic)

HENRY CAVILL: Ben Affleck to play Batman in 'Man of Steel' sequel

Ben Affleck, 41, will take on the role of reclusive billionaire Bruce Wayne, Batman's alter-ego, in director Zack Snyder's 2015 sequel to this year's Superman reboot "Man of Steel," starring 30-year-old British actor Henry Cavill.

"We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics' most enduringly popular super heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some. His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character," Greg Silverman, president of creative development at Warner Bros Pictures said.
