Another baby Cumberbatch has joined the bunch. On Friday, Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife, Sophie, quietly welcomed their second child into this great big world. (Sophie also legally changed her last name from Hunter to Cumberbatch, according to People.) Their new baby is named Hal Auden Cumberbatch and he joins his younger brother Christopher “Kit” Carlton.

News of Sophie’s pregnancy came to light in October when she publicly debuted her baby bump at the premiere of Doctor Strange.

Benedict Cumberbatch tackles time playing 400-year-old

BBC
14 March 2017
From the section Entertainment & Arts

Benedict Cumberbatch bought the rights to the yet unpublished How to Stop Time which is described as a "wildly imagined love story"

Benedict Cumberbatch's versatility shows no end as he gears up for another offbeat role.
With characters like Sherlock Holmes and Dr Strange under his belt, he's signed up to play a supposed 41-year-old who is really 400.

He'll star as Tom Hazard in the film adaptation of the forthcoming How to Stop Time by author Matt Haig.

Described as a "wildly imagined love story", it follows Haig's children's books such as A Boy Called Christmas.

How to Stop Time won't hit shelves until July, but we know Hazard's youthful looks are down to an "extremely rare condition".

"The prospect of Benedict Cumberbatch playing Tom Hazard is a hugely exciting one and I could not be happier," Haig said.

The writer is best known for his quirky - and dark - stories about family life.

Sherlock Co-Creator Explains Why Show May Not Return For Season 5

COMIC BOOK

2/22/2017

Earlier this year, Sherlock fans were treated to a long-awaited gift. The clever BBC drama returned to televisions after years on hiatus, and the show’s fourth season was a trying one. The miniseries left behind both grief and joy in its wake, leaving fans to wonder whether a fifth season was in the works. But, according to one of the show’s co-creators, another season of Sherlock is not a sure thing.

Recently, Mark Gatiss commented on the future of Sherlock, and his words have left die-hards fans with lackluster hope. The writer and actor appeared at the WhatsOnStage Awards and explained why Sherlock may be done for good:

“I honestly don't know if there will be any more. It's incredibly difficult to get Benedict and Martin's diaries to align. And obviously we left it in a very happy place... if that's the end I'd be very happy where we left it,” Gatiss said.

Of course, it isn’t too surprising to learn the show’s stars are busy. Over the past years, both Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman have been Hollywood fixtures. The former is now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to Doctor Strange, and Freeman recently joined the franchise in Captain America: Civil War. The British stars keep busy schedules, and the team behind Sherlock has said coordinating their shoots were challenging.

EXCLUSIVE: Benedict Cumberbatch is reteaming with BBC One and Masterpiece for the adaptation of Ian McEwan’s award-winning 1987 novel The Child In Time. Cumberbatch will star in and executive produce the one-off 90-minute drama written by Stephen Butchard.

Cumberbatch, who is coming off the fourth season of BBC One/Masterpiece sleuthing series Sherlock, will play Stephen Lewis, a successful children’s book author whose daughter suddenly goes missing in the lyrical and heartbreaking exploration of love, loss and the power of things unseen.

The film will explore the dark territory of a marriage devastated by the loss of a child. Her absence sets Stephen and his wife on diverging paths as both struggle with an all-consuming grief. With the passage of time, a balance of sorts returns, until hope surfaces and triumphs unexpectedly.

Cumberbatch says, “I read the novel years ago and it stayed with me — profound, beautiful and very moving. Only Ian McEwan could write about loss with such telling honesty. We’re very excited to have Stephen Butchard’s subtle and brilliant adaptation, and in Julian Farino we have an extraordinary director who delivers emotional truth. I’m so proud The Child In Time will be the first drama produced by SunnyMarch TV

Has Sherlock got a new sidekick? Benedict Cumberbatch seen on set with four-legged friend

Sherlock 's squad might be growing if these set pictures are anything to go by.

Actor Benedict Cumberbatch - who plays the titular character - was spotted filming new scenes for the next series of the drama alongside a dog.

The bloodhound looked very professional and calm as it was kept on a lead held by the Dr Strange star.

Benedict seemed thrilled to have the animal on set and spent time petting it in between takes.

Unfortunately we're going to have to wait until Christmas before we find out what role the four-legged best friend will have.

Martin Freeman, who plays John Watson, was also on set alongside his co-star and spent time coo-ing over a baby.

It's not known whether the young tot was in scenes with John but according to Digital Spy the baby could play a big role.

Watson's wife Mary, played by Martin's actual wife Amanda Abbington, was pregnant in the last series so perhaps she gives birth.

TOM HIDDLESTON WANTS LOKI TO MEET BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH'S DOCTOR STRANGE

COMIC BOOK RESOURCES

"Avengers" star Tom Hiddleston is ready to team up with Benedict Cumberbatch at Marvel Studios. During an interview with Daily News, Hiddleston discussed his friendship with Cumberbatch and said he'd love for Loki and Dr. Strange to share the screen.

"In some hypothetical world, I don't quite know when, for Loki and Dr. Strange to share the same frame would be very exciting indeed," Hiddleston said. "Because Benedict Cumberbatch is an old friend. So I would think it would be interesting to see who would get the upper hand."

"Truthfully, I do actually know at the moment how many more times I'm going to play Loki, but I'm not going to tell you," he added. "It's not personal. It's just keeping it fresh for all paying customers to enjoy their films."

The first trailer for Marvel's Doctor Strange is here - and we get to hear Benedict Cumberbatch's American accent

Ok, so first up – the trailer for Doctor Strange is finally here!

Secondly, what do we think of Benedict Cumberbatch's American accent as Marvel's mystical superhero?

"I don’t believe in fairytales about chakras or energy or the power of belief," says Cumbers in a very throaty US drawl, and to us it sounds not unlike another Brit abroad, Hugh Laurie in House.
