HE’S Sydney’s latest adopted son and Scottish movie hunk Gerard Butler is not wasting time making friends with the harbour city’s female population.

Taking advantage of his time in Australia as he prepares to shoot the $150 million epic Gods of Egypt, Butler has thrown himself into the city’s social scene, getting familiar with several women on various occasions — even leaving a party in Bondi last week with two girls in tow.

Kicking on from the Kym Ellery show at fashion week on Monday night, Butler and a small entourage made their way to a party at Da Orazio Pizza and Porchetta for sock label Scarce.

With models including Bambi Northwood-Blyth and Cheyenne Tozzi looking on, Butler hit the dancefloor and it was then that a handful of women caught his eye.

Gerard Butler films Gods of Egypt in Sydney with Geoffrey Rush

One hundred and fifty million dollar budget film Gods of Egypt, directed by Alex Proyas (I, Robot), starring Gerard Butler (P.S. I Love You) and Geoffrey Rush (Pirates of the Caribbean) is currently being filmed in Sydney.

Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Home and Away Aussie actor Brenton Thwaites will also star in Gods of Egypt, which will be packed with magic, monsters and mystical legends. Australia's diverse landscape will double as the Nile River Valley, and Butler will play Set, the god of darkness who ends up embroiled in a huge battle.

Butler will also play Bodhi in a remake of Point Break, which will be filmed Down Under. It’s believed that he has been filming scenes for both movies while in Australia, and it’s rumoured that he’ll travel to the Gold Coast due to the water tank facilities at Village Roadshow studios – also used for Angelina Jolie’s feature film Unbroken.

GERARD Butler is so keen to start work on big-budget action fantasy Gods of Egypt, he will front up at Fox Studios on Monday — almost a month before filming begins.

“We’re putting major prep into this,’’ the Scottish actor revealed in Los Angeles today during an interview to promote the animated sequel How To Train Your Dragon 2.

Butler, 44, was to board a flight to Sydney immediately after the promotional tour had wrapped.

“I am going to be down there three and a half weeks before we start just so I can be in among it for all the training and the dialect sessions and the rehearsals.”

Best known for his role as Spartan King Leonidas in 300, Zack Snyder’s graphic re-enactment of the ancient battle of Thermopylae, Butler described the project as “massive.”

“It’s the largest budget movie I have ever worked on. It’s huge in every dimension. It’s huge in its scope. And it’s story. And visually. (I, Robot’s) Alex Proyas is the man. Everything about the movie feels bang on.”

Gerard Butler is in negotiations to play a villainous god opposite Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in Summit's epic fantasy Gods of Egypt.

Alex Proyas is directing the film from a screenplay by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama.

The story is set in the aftermath of when one ruling god, Set, kills another, Osiris. When Osiris' son Horus fails in his attempt to get revenge and has his eye plucked out, it's up to a young human thief in love with a slave to help defeat the angry god.

Coster-Waldau is portraying Horus. If a deal is made, Butler will play Set, the god of the desert.
