Is Gorgeous About Tom Hiddleston? Taylor Swift's New Song References "Ocean Blue Eyes" So Many Times

Bustle
Sabienna Bowman

It is a truth universally acknowledged that when Taylor Swift drops a new single, the internet will promptly begin speculating whom the song is about. It happened with the first single she dropped from Reputation, "Look What You Made Me Do," and the interwebs quickly determined the song centered around her infamous VMAs feud with Kanye West. It happened again with her second single, "...Ready For It," which, apparently is about her time dating former One Direction member Harry Styles. So whom is Taylor Swift's "Gorgeous" about? The internet has plenty of hypotheses, but given how many times blue eyes come up, it almost certainly has to be the case that "Gorgeous" is about Tom Hiddleston.

Because Swift has a long and storied history of attributing her former flames (and feuds) as inspiration for her songs, it's no surprise that people are certain that "Gorgeous" is about #Hiddleswift. A few notable examples include, allegedly, Taylor Lautner in "Back to December," Jake Gyllenhaal in "All Too Well," Joe Jonas in "Forever and Always," and the list goes on. And there are even some more obvious mentions. Most likely, "Style" is about Harry Styles, and "Dear John" is about John Mayer. And, come on, "Gorgeous" being about Hiddleston, just makes so much sense.

Oscar Beat: Best Actor Predictions—It’s Gary Oldman Then Everyone Else

Collider
Adam Chitwood
October 16, 2017

Well folks, it’s that time. I’ve been covering some preliminary buzz and shakeups in this current awards season for the past couple of months, but as we head into November, the race starts taking a much more solid shape and predictions come into play. All this week I’ll be laying out my preliminary predictions for some of the biggest categories, and I’m kicking things off with the Best Actor race—which, actually, of all the major races is maybe the least exciting of all.

Indeed, while previous years saw various actors jockeying for the top position, this one very much seems like it’s Gary Oldman’s to lose. The beloved performer turns in a wholly transformative performance in Joe Wright’s World War II drama Darkest Hour, in which he plays Winston Churchill. Oldman is indeed as good as everyone’s saying, and bolstered by an Anthony McCarten script that gives him multiple explosive speeches—which he subsequently hits out of the park—this is a film chock full of “Oscar clip”-worthy scenes.

But beyond Oldman, it’s really not that competitive of a Best Actor race—this year Best Supporting Actor is where the real fight is. Timothee Chalamet should absolutely be in contention for his star-making turn in Call Me By Your Name, which continues to rack up critical support after first bowing at Sundance earlier this year. It’s a major contender in multiple big categories, and while younger performers don’t usually score Best Actor nominations, if the Academy takes to Call Me By Your Name the way audiences at Sundance, TIFF, and the New York Film Festival did, he should make the cut.

There’s also Jake Gyllenhaal giving one of the best performances of his career in Stronger, although his footing is less solid given that the film seems to have unperformed at the box office and, disappointingly, is at risk of being forgotten come Oscar time. Andrew Garfield could be back in the mix for his impressive turn as a paraplegic in director Andy Serkis’ true-story drama Breathe. That film has some mediocre reviews, which may stand in Garfield’s way, but the guy’s incredibly likeable and does a swell job in the film. And, let’s face it: if he can get nominated for Hacksaw Ridge, a nod for Breathe is entirely possible.

Eddie Redmayne tipped to beat Benedict Cumberbatch to Best Actor BAFTA on Sunday

Eddie Redmayne and Benedict Cumberbatch

The 33-year-old is tipped to add the gong to his trophy cabinet at the star-studded awards on Sunday.

Eddie, who has been lauded by the critics for his portrayal of scientist Stephen Hawking in The Theory Of Everything, has already won a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Golden Globe for the role.

If the London-born actor finds himself victorious at the BAFTAs it should make up for his last trip to the awards.

The star missed his big moment in 2013, when he was set to present the award for original screenplay, after he was suddenly taken ill backstage.

That left Lincoln star Sally Field to come on stage alone and tell the audience: "He seems to be puking his guts out back there", before giving the award to Quentin Tarantino for his western Django Unchained.

The actor had to make do with a kind word from his Les Miserables co-star Anne Hathaway who confirmed his illness when she picked up her award for Best Supporting Actress, saying: "Eddie, feel better. I would be holding your hair back, but - food poisoning is just the worst."

Eddie faces tough competition in the Best Actor category, including fellow British star Benedict Cumberbatch for his role in The Imitation Game, as well as Michael Keaton for Birdman, Ralph Fiennes for The Grand Budapest Hotel and Jake Gyllenhaal for Nightcrawler.

His on-screen wife, Felicity Jones, could triumph as well after she was nominated for the best actress award against stars including Amy Adams and Reese Witherspoon.

The film is based on the memoirs of Hawking's ex-wife Jane which deals with their relationship, his scientific success and the onset of motor neurone disease which left him severely disabled.

Felicity also faces competition from Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike and Julianne Moore for her emotional portrayal of an Alzheimer's sufferer in Still Alice.

Other nominations include nods for Keira Knightley and Imelda Staunton for best supporting actress and Steve Carell and Ethan Hawke for best supporting actor.

The awards, seen as a dry run for the Oscars, will be handed out at London's Royal Opera House.

Among the other awards presented on the night is the Rising Star, which recognises the best new talent.

Unbroken actor Jack O'Connell is among those nominated along with Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who starred in last year's period drama Belle as a mixed-race aristocrat, and Margot Robbie, who first found fame playing Donna Freedman in TV soap Neighbours and has gone on to appear in The Wolf Of Wall Street.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Redmayne compete for best actor at 2015 Bafta Film awards

RADIO TIMES
By Ellie Walker-Arnott
Friday 9 January 2015 at 08:03AM

British stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Redmayne are going head to head for best actor at this year's Film Bafta awards.

The pair are nominated for their roles as pioneering scientists Alan Turing in The Imitation Game and Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, respectively.

Their nominations are no real surprise; both the stars have already drawn huge praise from critics, along with numerous other nominations. Stephen Fry, who announced this year's shortlist alongside Sam Claflin, even uttered a "No!" of feigned surprise when Cumberbatch's name was read out.

The duo are up against Ralph Fiennes for The Grand Budapest Hotel, Jake Gyllenhaal for Nightcrawler and Michael Keaton for Birdman.

Redmayne's co-star Felicity Jones is nominated for best actress for her role as Hawking's wife in The Theory of Everything, while Keira Knightley, who stars opposite Cumberbatch in The Imitation Game, is vying for the best supporting actress gong.

Fellow Brits Rosamund Pike and Imelda Staunton were also nominated, for best actress in Gone Girl and best supporting actress in Pride.

emily blunt Into the Woods Synopsis & Cast Revealed (Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Johnny Depp....)

FLICKS AND BITS

Disney today send word that filming started last week for ‘Into the Woods.’ Rob Marshall (Chicago) directs the film, which is based on the Tony-winning original musical by James Lapine, who also penned the screenplay, and legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, who provides the music and lyrics - including an all-new song for the big-screen adaptation. ‘Into the Woods’ is produced by Marshall, John DeLuca, ‘Wicked’ producer Marc Platt and Callum McDougall. Shooting in studio and on location throughout England, the film is slated for a December 25th, 2014, holiday release.

‘Into the Woods’ is described as a “modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel - all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them.”

The all-star ensemble cast includes:

· Meryl Streep portrays the Witch who wishes to reverse a curse so that her beauty may be restored.
· Emily Blunt is the Baker’s Wife, a childless woman who longs to be a mother.
· James Corden plays the role of the Baker, a hard-working man who desperately wants to start a family.
· Anna Kendrick fills the shoes of Cinderella, who finds herself on a journey of self-discovery.
· Chris Pine portrays Cinderella’s Prince, charming and impossibly handsome, who is on an endless quest to find his bride.
· Johnny Depp steps in as the Wolf, who sets his sights on Little Red Riding Hood.
· Lilla Crawford (Broadway’s “Annie”) makes her feature-film debut as Little Red Riding Hood, a smart and spunky girl who journeys into the woods, finding unexpected adventures along the way.
· Daniel Huttlestone lands the role of Jack, an absentminded and adventurous boy who trades his treasured cow for five magic beans.
· Tracey Ullman joins the cast as Jack’s Mother, a poor and exasperated mom who is overwhelmed, yet fiercely protective of her son.
· Christine Baranski takes on the infamous Stepmother who wishes for riches and grandeur; she’ll do anything to marry off one of her daughters to a prince.
· MacKenzie Mauzy plays Rapunzel, a sheltered young woman who experiences the world beyond her tower for the first time.
· Billy Magnussen is the dashing and eager Prince who courts Rapunzel.

Cary Grant, the one and only By Laurie Bennett March 21, 2013 at 6:05am (MUCKETY)

The New York Times has proclaimed Justin Timberlake the new Cary Grant, which must make George Clooney the old Cary Grant.

The premise for the Times verdict is Timberlake’s suave new look, a tailored contrast to his earlier boy-band bagginess.

Grant, Alfred Hitchcock’s favorite actor, set a standard, sartorial and otherwise, for later generations of actors.

The comparison is made with so many handsome, witty leading men that it has become a cliche.

Hugh Grant (no relation) runs a close second to Clooney as the chosen successor. The Daily Mail pointed out: “Both were born in England, have similar Byronic sex appeal, look good in suits, and excel at playing well-heeled characters.”

Others who have been promoted as the next Archibald Alexander Leach include Bruce Willis (when he had hair), Pierce Brosnan (before he serenaded Meryl), Mark Wahlberg, Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Ashton Kutcher and Ewan McGregor. (The McGregor analogy makes no sense whatsoever. He obviously is the next Christopher Plummer.)

Vanity Fair noted this trend almost a decade ago, identifying Frankie Muniz, TV’s Malcolm in the middle, as the most inexplicable nominee. When told that a critic had described him as “the Cary Grant of kid stars,” Muniz replied, “That’s cool… but I don’t know who Cary Grant is.”

Michael Fassbender and Jake Gyllenhaal in the running to play Lance Armstrong (entertainment.ie)

Last Saturday we reported the news that there would be a Lance Armstrong biopic coming our way, with Lost creator JJ Abrams at the helm. We then asked you which actor you thought would best portray the cyclist's fall from grace. With tongues already wagging in Hollywood, there's since been a bunch of names thrown into the mix and we couldn't agree more with the following two suggestions; Bradley Cooper and Michael Fassbender. Both have the chops to pull it off, both have the looks and athletic physique too. It's the folk at Ladbrokes who bring us this news, announcing a 3/1 odds for each actor.

When asked by the BBC about the possibility of bringing Armstrong's story to the big screen, Cooper (whose currently enjoying the lead up to the Oscars on the back of his performance in Silver Linings Playbook) expressed his interest by saying: "I think he's fascinating. What a fascinating character. I remember Matt Damon was going to do his autobiography at one point years ago. I remember thinking, that would be a great character, I'd love to play that character. I would love to do something, I think he's pretty fascinating."

Mumford and wife: Carey Mulligan and her pop star are married among the hay bales in a barn - by groom's father By KATIE NICHOLL (MAIL ON LINE)

Award-winning actress Carey Mulligan and folk rock singer Marcus Mumford were married yesterday – by the groom’s father in a converted barn on a working farm.

The bride, 26, who won an Oscar nomination and a BAFTA for her role in An Education, exchanged vows with the Mumford & Sons frontman in a rustic-themed ceremony in the middle of the Somerset countryside.

Marcus’s father John, a vicar, conducted the service inside a barn at Stream Farm in Bridgwater.

Among the 200 guests were actress Sienna Miller, Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal and Oscar-winner Colin Firth.

As the couple emerged from a large marquee attached to a cowshed, contemporary photographer Rankin fired off shots of the beaming bride. She looked radiant in a full-length ivory plain backless dress with V-straps, thought to be a Versace design.

Earlier, the groom, 25, was seen in Ray-Ban sunglasses driving himself to the venue before a helicopter, believed to be carrying his father, landed in a nearby field. The party was organised by Bentley’s Entertainment, the London-based firm behind Petra Ecclestone’s lavish wedding in Italy last year.

Watch the Golden Globes 2012 Live-Streaming Online: A Few Possibilities (Alt Film Guide)

| Jan 14, 2012 | Comments
NBC will broadcast the 2012 Golden Globe Awards directly from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on Sunday, January 15, 5-8 p.m. (PT)/8-11 p.m.

(ET). Ricky Gervais will once again serve as host (and roaster). Nominees range from Woody Allen to Madonna, from Asghar Farhadi's A Separation to Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin, from Maggie Smith to Amy Poehler. [Golden Globes 2012 winners here tomorrow.]

Among the presenters confirmed for 2012 Golden Globe awards are Antonio Banderas, Jessica Biel, Jimmy Fallon, Salma Hayek, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Brad Pitt, Natalie Portman, and Reese Witherspoon.

Also: Madonna, Channing Tatum, Jane Fonda, Harrison Ford, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Emily Blunt, Johnny Depp, Colin Firth, Robert Downey Jr., Jake Gyllenhaal, Melissa McCarthy, Clive Owen, and Freida Pinto. (Surprisingly missing from the list of presenters are Daniel Radcliffe and Robert Pattinson. The Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 star has a new movie coming out soon, The Woman in Black; the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 star has his own movie coming out — at least in the United Kingdom — in a few weeks, Bel Ami.)

Now, how to watch the Golden Globes online? Before going anywhere, the best option is to head to NBC's official Golden Globes' website to find out if NBC will be live-streaming the ceremony online. If I remember it correctly, two or three years ago, the ceremony was live-streamed online. (Last year it was not.)

Else, there are several sites such as UStream, TV.com, and Justin.tv that may offer user-generated streams showing the ceremony. Bear in mind that many of those may be both of dubious legality and poor quality. But don't despair: the Golden Globes will be shown live on TV in dozens of countries. You'll surely have better luck — and a better viewing experience — by checking out your local television schedule and tuning in at the appropriate time.

And here are a couple more ways of watching the Golden Globes 2012 online: the Golden Globes' official Facebook page. Jessica Alba will be blogging the awards show live and there may be clips posted on the site as well. Hulu.com may also offer clips from the ceremony.

If we uncover an official Golden Globes 2012 live stream, we'll post a direct link to it on Sunday.
