Avengers: Infinity War - Benedict Cumberbatch Calls Script ‘Very Good Fun,’ Addresses Stand-In Reports

LRM
Mar. 2.17 – by Joseph Medina

It’s been a few months since Doctor Strange first entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and despite his psychedelic tendencies, he seemed to fit in very well. In many ways, he seemed to be a natural merger between the more grounded world we see in Iron Man and the more outlandish Thor.

Of course, you can’t have a story about the Infinity Gauntlet without Doctor Strange, so it goes without saying that actor Benedict Cumberbatch will be involved in its production (though he’s long since been confirmed).

However, last January, there was a report from the outlet Page Six that a stand-in was in Georgia filming in place of Cumberbatch himself while the British actor was off playing Thomas Edison in The Current War. The report stated that Marvel Studios did not plan on digitally superimposing Cumberbatch onto another actor’s performance, but that seemed to imply we’d only get a series of close-ups from the man himself.

Speaking with ET, Cumberbatch addressed this report: "It’s a bit of an exaggeration. Listen, there’s a great deal that can be done in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and any comic universe. Whether it’s hiding a pregnancy to having someone there who’s on the other side of the world, but there’s only so much they can do without you. And, so, yeah. I’ll be there. Don’t worry.”

Of course, it’s a bit impossible to tell just how involved any one character will be in this film, as we know very little regarding the plot. In the original Infinity Gauntlet comic, Strange played a vital role alongside the likes of the Silver Surfer and Adam Warlock in helping to coordinate the attack on The Mad Titan Thanos. However, given that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is dealing with a lot less characters, and that the world itself has established a host of different rules, we can’t really gauge just how prominent he’ll be in the film. Cumberbatch did give audiences a bit of a tease though regarding the Avengers: Infinity War screenplay. “I’ve got a script, and I’ve been reading it, and it’s very, very good fun.”

The first trailer for Marvel's Doctor Strange is here - and we get to hear Benedict Cumberbatch's American accent

Ok, so first up – the trailer for Doctor Strange is finally here!

Secondly, what do we think of Benedict Cumberbatch's American accent as Marvel's mystical superhero?

"I don’t believe in fairytales about chakras or energy or the power of belief," says Cumbers in a very throaty US drawl, and to us it sounds not unlike another Brit abroad, Hugh Laurie in House.

Henry Cavill: Batman vs Superman Rumors: Release Date Being Moved Up?

EPOCH TIMES
By Zachary Stieber, Epoch Times | March 16, 2014

Superman (Henry Cavill) in the action-adventure film “Man of Steel.” (Clay Enos/Warner Bros. Pictures)

The Batman vs Superman release date may be moved up so that it’s not directly competing with a film believed to be Captain America 3.

Sources told Brazilian website Judao that Warner Bros’ Brazil is planning to release the movie, which is supposed to get a new name at some point, on April 28, 2016, and that the movie would be released in the United States a day later.

That would move Batman vs Superman one week ahead of the release date that was announced a while ago and would also put it a week ahead of Captain America 3 on May 6, 2016. Insiders believe that’s the movie pegged for that date but it hasn't been confirmed.

Marvel originally had a movie planned for that date before Batman vs Superman was moved back from a summer 2015 release date due to problems.

The rumors aren’t confirmed.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, meanwhile, told Slash Film that Marvel has no intention of moving its release date.

“We’re certainly keeping the date there and we’ll announce what that movie is, I assume, in the next few months,” he said.

The announcement could come at Comic-Con, which is in a couple months.

Ray Stevenson Talks Suiting Up For 'Volstagg' Role In THOR: THE DARK WORLD

COMIC BOOK MOVIE
By DCMarvelFreshman - 7/29/2013

With its release date just over three months away, Thor: The Dark World is gearing up for a massive marketing campaign starting next month, or rather later this week. But until then, Volstagg the Voluminous actor Ray Stevenson has talked a bit about returning to Asgard for the Alan Taylor-directed Marvel sequel while out promoting the Blu-ray/DVD release of G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

"Thor is a completely unique experience altogether. I had to wear this vest that contained tubes pumping ice water on to my torso, otherwise my costume would have killed me!" he admitted. "First there was the big foam fat suit that went from my toes to my neck, then the costume on top of that, and then the big beard, then the wig, then I had to go and fight!"

"The truth is, I am really passionate about these action roles. I don't want to appear like some big bouncer standing on the door, I like to bring more to it and for me, that is the best part of the industry," he said. "I've worked with Alan Taylor before and he has a heart the size of planet that he wears on his arm and I'm forever indebted to him." Ray Stevenson was asked again if he'll reprise his Asgardian warrior role in Marvel's The Avengers: Age of Ultron. "I haven't heard a thing!!" he said. "But I'd be absolutely delighted!! I'm under option with Marvel but hopefully there will be a few more Avengers films to come, I'm thinking three or four."

Comic-Con: Marvel Screens Their Latest One-Shot, Agent Carter! (Hayley Atwell)

Super Hero Hype
by Silas Lesnick
July 19, 2013

As they did last year with their "Phase One" short film finale, "Item 47," Marvel Studios hosted a special San Diego premiere screening of the new 15-minute "Agent Carter" short, which will be included as a bonus feature on the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray release. While it's well-known that the film features Captain America: The First Avenger star Hayley Atwell returning in the role of Peggy Carter, the film also offers a wide variety of surprise cameos. We'll refrain from revealing the two big ones at the end, but if you want to stay completely spoiler-free, stop reading now.
"After the premiere of 'Captain America,' I went straight back to London to do a play," says Atwell of how the project came about. "I thought that was the end of it. Then months and months and months later, I got a call from Lou [D'Esposito] saying that this was something that we could make together. It was as new to me as it was to the fans."

"Agent Carter" begins with the final scene of Captain America as Peggy says goodbye to Chris Evans' Steve Rogers. Jumping ahead a year, we find Peggy working in a government office and none too pleased with her lot in life. She's the victim of gender politics of the day and, despite being an agent, winds up primarily doing glorified secretary work. That all changes one night, however, when she takes matters into her own hands and takes on a middle-of-the-night mission issued by a mysterious voice (Iron Man 3 writer-director Shane Black in a voice-only cameo).

We won't say where "Agent Carter" winds up, but it's safe to say that Peggy Carter has quite a potential future in the Marvel cinematic universe. In fact, it was Marvel Studios executive producer Victoria Alonso who shouted out during the Q&A, "Will you do the TV series, Hayley?"

HENRY CAVILL: Box office report: 'Man of Steel' scores super $125.1 million debut, breaks June record by Grady Smith (ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY)

man-of-steel-09.jpg

Faster than a speeding bullet, Warner Bros.’ $225 million franchise reboot Man of Steel has become a box office behemoth.

The superhero film began its run with a massive $125.1 million ($113.1 million over the traditional weekend, $12 million from corporate screening programs on Thursday), breaking the record for the biggest June opening weekend ever, ahead of Toy Story 3‘s $110.3 million bow in 2010.  Among 2013 films, Man of Steel had the second best debut of the year behind Iron Man 3, which started with $174.1 million in May.

Man of Steel garnered a fantastic $29,731 per theater average from its 4,207 locations. The film grossed $13.3 million in IMAX theaters, and 41% of its business came from 3D ticket sales. Audiences were 56 percent male and 44 percent female, a more even gender distribution than Iron Man 3, which had a 61/39 percent male/female split on opening weekend. The dashing looks of Henry Cavill (and Amy Adams’ appeal) no doubt helped Man of Steel play well with women. Reviews were mixed, but crowds issued the film a strong “A-” CinemaScore.

For Cavill, Adams, and the rest of the cast — which includes Russell Crowe, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Laurence Fishburne, and Michael Shannon — Man of Steel became their best ever opening weekend. The same goes for director Zack Snyder, who formerly saw gigantic numbers when 300 bowed with $70.9 million in 2007.

Man of Steel also clobbered the debut of 2006′s Superman Returns, which opened with $52.5 million and earned $200 million domestically against a $270 million budget. Widely considered a box office misfire, Superman Returns did not, in fact, return. In about one week, Man of Steel will likely have surpassed that film’s domestic total.

The news couldn’t be better for Warner Bros., which — with the exceptions of The Great Gatsby and 42 — has badly struggled at the box office in 2013. Films like Jack the Giant Slayer, The Hangover Part III, Beautiful Creatures, Bullet to the Head, and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone have massively under-performed at the box office, so Man of Steel‘s success is a welcome change. “We’re thrilled,” says Dan Fellman, the studio’s president of domestic distribution, “and it will fly through the summer. We’re going to have legs on this film.”

Fellman also notes that Man of Steel‘s success brings Warner Bros. and DC Comics one step closer to creating a Justice League franchise that might rival Marvel/Disney’s Avengers. The exec wouldn’t confirm whether Henry Cavill has already been contracted to star in Justice League films, though he did coyly remark, “Henry will be around for a while.”

Internationally, Man of Steel soared with $71.6 million in its first weekend, including $17.6 million in the United Kingdom and $9.8 million in Mexico. The film has yet to open in a number of large markets, but it’s already clear that it will easily outdo Superman Returns $191 million international haul.

Flaming Hot Henry Cavill Set Ablaze In New Superman Man Of Steel TV Spot (E.)

BY MARK WORGAN ON APRIL 9, 2013

This year's big release from the Warner Bros/DC Comics team are also probably keeping their powder dry until after the release of Marvel's Iron Man 3 and Star Trek Into Darkness, with the summer's other tent-pole special effects flicks landing in spring.

However for his legion of female fans it surely is never a disappointment to see Henry Cavill's torso bulging out of the screen once more, even if Henry lovers had best be advised to grab a hose and put it out quick!
