Hampshire's own Colin Firth could be crowned 'National Treasure'

HAMPSHIRE-BORN actor Colin Firth is in the running to be crowned England’s national treasure after a nationwide vote.

The National Lottery has launched the search as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations this year. The What’s Your National Treasure campaign asks people to choose the best from a range of iconic venues, landmarks, faces and facilities that are vying for the title of National Treasure.

Colin Firth kicks ass in WonderCon sneak peak of Matthew Vaugh's 'Secret Service'

(CBR) Even though footage from "Secret Service" previously screened at CinemaCon earlier this year, a second showing at WonderCon did not disappoint.

Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming adaptation of Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons' comic centers on a team of covert agents, operating to save the world much like MI-6 and the CIA do – minus the red tape. And with a lot more face busting.

The clip opened with team leader Uncle Jack (Colin Firth) nursing a pint in a UK pub opposite new recruit Gary, played by newcomer Taron Egerton. After exchanging expository dialogue, the drinks are interrupted by a group of hooligans wanting to pick a fight with Gary.

Cue Uncle Jack locking up the bar moments before beating the hell out of these guys, with an umbrella. The most inventive use of the umbrella comes at the end of the fight, as Jack deploys it as a shield to deflect bullets from an assailant – while keeping his sights on his attacker using a night-vision like screen making up the interior of the parasol.

Sean Bean: Clean Skin (LONDON INSIDER)

Lean Bean: ”Clean Skin”, an independently financed British movie starring Sean Bean, has been bought by Warner Bros and is due in UK cinemas on 9th March.

The film began with a budget of around £700K and was said that after investors saw what amazing stunts were being carried out on set (restaurants and cars blowing up and decent Bourne-style fights) the investment increased to just under £2million GBP.

The picture, directed by Hadi Hajaig, sees Sean Bean as a secret service agent pursuing a terrorist. It also features Charlotte Rampling and Michelle Ryan (”Bionic Woman”). Early word suggests this could be a sleeper hit and that director Hadi’s next film is eying up one Nicolas Cage.
