Another baby Cumberbatch has joined the bunch. On Friday, Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife, Sophie, quietly welcomed their second child into this great big world. (Sophie also legally changed her last name from Hunter to Cumberbatch, according to People.) Their new baby is named Hal Auden Cumberbatch and he joins his younger brother Christopher “Kit” Carlton.

News of Sophie’s pregnancy came to light in October when she publicly debuted her baby bump at the premiere of Doctor Strange.

Benedict Cumberbatch in row with neighbours over plan for 'noisy' boiler room at new £2.7m Victorian home

THE TELEGRAPH

26 MAY 2016 • 1:35PM

Benedict Cumberbatch, the Sherlock actor, faces a planning battle after concerns were raised over his plans to build a "noisy" boiler room at his new home.

The 39-year-old bought a five-bedroom villa in Camden, north London, for just over £2.7m last April - but did not move in.

Instead, the actor - who married opera director Sophie Hunter last year - got builders to put up hoardings around the Victorian property while he made plans to renovate the three-storey home.

He submitted plans to Camden Council for an attic conversion to add another bedroom - and also install a "plant room", with a water heater/boiler in it - at the front of his semi-detached home.

Cumberbatch bought the five-bedroom villa in for just over £2.7m last April

The Harrow-educated actor, who stars in The Jungle book and The Hobbit, also wants to build a rear extension to the property, but has promised not to cut down an established magnolia tree.

A sticking point, which has been raised by Camden Council - and neighbours - is the boiler room, which according to plans would be "installed in the front garden beneath the existing retaining wall".

The plans state the road "is a wide, tree-lined avenue with substantial detached, semi-detached and short terraces of mid to late Victorian and Edwardian villas.

"There is an established residential land use pattern across the area."

But the council report states that it might need to call for an "acoustic report" to find out if there are any "noise issues" related to the plant room in the front garden.

They're never far from each other's side - despite his manic filming schedule.

So it was no surprise to see that Benedict Cumberbatch was using some time away from the set of Sherlock to treat his wife, Sophie Hunter, to a romantic date night.

Stepping out for an evening at the opera in London, held at the Barbican, the 39-year-old actor cut a dapper figure whilst the Theater director slipped into a demure and glamorous monochrome dress.

Heading to a performance of Vincenzo Bellini's Adison e Salvini, the loved-up couple put on a very tender display - sticking close to each other.

Following the performance of the opera, which follows the fortunes of an Italian (Salvini) in Ireland, who falls in love with the eponymous Adelson’s fiancĂ©e Nelly, the couple left the arts centre hand-in-hand.

Benedict Cumberbatch is nesting.

The 38-year-old "Sherlock" star, whose wife, theater director Sophie Hunter, is pregnant, told the Mirror, "I am nesting for my family and just living a London life."

"I want to live as much a normal life as I can," he insisted.

According to Cumberbatch, it is possible to be both a famous actor and a good parent.

"I think there are plenty of good actors who are fathers," he said in a recent interview with ET Canada. "I mean, you only have to look at Daniel Day-Lewis as an example and a lot of my dear friends: Mark Strong, I mean, I could go on and on. I think what children do is enhance your life, they don't inhibit it. They don't limit it, they give you inspiration and depths of understanding of the human condition and what it is to be on this planet and what our purpose is, that goes well beyond anything a childless actor could hope for."

"I know, I can speak for many other friends of mine," Cumberbatch added. "Martin (Freeman) is another example who springs to mind, who managed to balance a home life and a work life. It's not easy, but then everyone is doing it, everyone I know who has children is managing it, so it's not impossible."

Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife Sophie Hunter join Princess Anne at Buckingham Palace

HELLO DAILY NEWS
11 MARCH 2015

Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife Sophie Hunter joined high profile guests for a dinner hosted by Princess Anne at Buckingham Palace on Monday evening. The newlyweds attended the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) reception following their return from their recent honeymoon.

The pair looked thrilled to meet the Princess Royal at the charity event, and were all smiles as they chatted to the Queen's daughter in the Palace's white drawing room.

Sherlock star Benedict looked dapper in a blue velvet suit jacket and trousers, while his wife highlighted her growing baby bump in a complementary blue maxi dress featuring an embellished design.

Ever the gentleman, Benedict kept his arm around pregnant Sophie's waist while they mingled with guests including Michael Ball, Victoria Wood and the presenters of Good Morning Britain.

The 38-year-old also took time to meet Professor Stephen Hawking, who attended the event with his first wife Jane Hawking.

Benedict is a staunch supporter of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, and was one of many stars to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in the summer. The actor took the challenge to the next level by throwing not just one - but five - buckets of ice-cold water over his head in support of the campaign.

The reception was the first event that Benedict and Sophie have attended together since the Oscars. Following the awards the couple embarked on a romantic honeymoon together, and only returned home to London at the weekend

Benedict Cumberbatch And Wife Sophie Hunter Are Having The Time Of Their Lives In Bora Bora! Get The Deets On Their Lavish Honeymoon HERE

Now that everything settled down, the Oscar nominee is relaxing with his lady on the tropical islands and is doing all the things that tourists do — ever since they arrived last Tuesday!

An eyewitness on the island said Benedict was super excited when the two touched down for their vacation.

They shared:

"Benedict looked so excited to be there and was snapping pictures with his camera. They were given pineapple-infused water and beautiful flower leis that they immediately put around their necks and smelled the fresh flowers.

From the time they arrived, they rarely left their bungalow. Benedict had his arm around Sophie and was in awe of the beautiful water and their surroundings."

Pineapple-infused water and flower leis sound like heaven right now!

The insider continued to spill the details of their sunny honeymoon, saying the two have yet to leave their bungalow:

"They lounged around on their deck everyday and went swimming in the clear water. They had breakfast on the deck in the morning and it lasted for hours. Then they napped on side by side on their chaise lounges. Benedict went snorkeling whenever he could and Sophie relaxed and put her feet up. She is well into her pregnancy and looked happy to have down time.

They really seemed in love and like perfect partners. He was doting on her and rubbing her back and her pregnant belly. She was making sure he had sunscreen on and always re-applying it on his back. They had a lot of time alone and really enjoyed the slow pace of life and not having to do much."

Is newly-married Benedict Cumberbatch the perfect husband?

He might not have won the Best Actor Oscar on Monday, but Benedict Cumberbatch, without doubt, enjoyed the show and felt like a winner (he raised eyebrows when he was caught on camera swigging from his hip flask, couple of minutes into the ceremony). And he was ready to show us how madly in love he is.

In case, you missed, Cumberbatch and his new wife Sophie Hunter made the cutest and most loved-up duo on the Oscars 2015 red carpet. They took their newly-wed bliss to the awards gala with some very sweet red carpet PDA. The following photos of the couple are sure to warm your heart.

Cumberbatch, 38, who tied the knot with his pregnant fiance Sophie, 36, on Valentine's Day, couldn't be more in love and basically proved he’s the most caring man alive. The newest 'it' couple held hands and lovingly gazed at each other after making a grand entrance. But the cutest moment came when Benedict held Sophie, kissed her hand, and touched her baby bump. *Heart exploded*

We particularly love that Benedict asks his wife the same cute question on every red carpet. We know that despite being an actor and director herself, Sophie isn't quite as experienced as Cumberbatch when it comes to red carpet appearances and Benedict does all he can to help her hold it all together.

The always thoughtful (and now publicly passionate) Sherlock star makes sure to check on his lovely wife by asking her this one cute question, every time they hit a high-pressure do together, "Are you ok?"

Precious moment: Benedict Cumberbatch and his pregnant wife Sophie Hunter share a passionate embrace at a petrol station on Tuesday

(more pictures) Are Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter honeymooning in the Isle of Wight?

Benedict Cumberbatch and his pregnant wife Sophie Hunter are spending their first days of married life on the Isle of Wight, prompting speculation that they are enjoying a low-key honeymoon.

The couple, who married on Valentine’s Day, were spotted leaving The Sun Inn, Hulverstone on Sunday afternoon, where it is thought they enjoyed a long lunch.

Cumberbatch, 38, was dressed casually in a black leather jacket and flat cap, while Miss Hunter, 36, wore a knee-length beige coat, buttoned to the top.

Both wore dark glasses as they were escorted out of the 600-year-old pub at around 2.30pm on Sunday, the day after their wedding.

The wedding ceremony took place on Saturday at the 12th century St Peter & St Paul Church, near Brighstone, just two miles down the road from the Sun Inn.

Miss Hunter arrived at 3.20pm and was ushered into the church surrounded by security holding umbrellas, with her brown hair neatly tied up underneath her white veil.

Then, 40 minutes later, three loud cheers erupted from the church as the ceremony drew to a close, and at 4.15pm the couple left in a classic Jaguar.

The couple decided not to pose for pictures after the service, but went straight to the reception.

Among the guests was actor Andrew Scott, who plays Moriarty in Sherlock.

Fans had flocked to the island to catch a glimpse of the ceremony, but many were left disappointed.
As the couple left the church in a classic grey Jaguar, security officers parked a large white van in the way of the crowd of spectators.

This blocked the view of fans, many of whom had stood out in the rain for three hours in the hope of waving to the actor and his new wife.

Following the ceremony guests, thought to include fellow actor Tom Hiddleston, crossed the road for a reception at Mottistone Manor, a Grade II listed building owned by the National Trust.

Benedict Cumberbatch is reportedly set to break a thousand hearts today with speculation of a Valentine’s Day wedding. He’s keeping his cards close to his chest, but here’s what we know so far.

Despite a veil of secrecy around the nuptials to rival any Sherlock episode, a few scraps of information about today’s wedding have put the media and Twitter into overdrive.

Pictures have emerged of the church where he and pregnant fiancée Sophie Hunter plan to say I Do on the Isle of Wight.

So here’s what we know so far:

– The happy couple are said to be planning on marrying on the Isle Of Wight in Mottistone.

–  Roads have been closed near the supposed venue of the parish church of St. Peter and St. Paul.

– Security guards have been patrolling the area.

In a nod to both personal and British history, the couple wed in a church with deep ties to the bride’s family

On an English island once favored by Queen Victoria, Benedict Cumberbatchand Sophie Hunter wed in a tasteful affair fit for a titled resident of Downton Abbey.

On Saturday, the duo exchanged vows at the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Mottistone, England. The location is a medieval church dating back to the 12th century.

Mottistone is located on the Isle of Wight, England’s largest island and the former home of famed poet Alfred, Lord Tennyson, as well as Queen Victoria, who built a summer residence there with her husband, Prince Albert.

"It’s a beautiful setting and very old English, very quaint and pretty," a local tells PEOPLE of the church where they swapped vows on Valentine’s Day. “The church is not that big … I would say maybe 100 people maximum would fit in there.”

The bride arrived in a Jaguar Mark VII, ditching the traditional Rolls Royce.

About 40 guests were seen arriving at the church Saturday along with several limousines around the Mottistone estate.

The couple did not use the church’s organist to play for the wedding. Locals confirmed that they didn’t use the church’s florist or a Mottistone baker.

Night before the Wedding

Reports that the The Imitation Game actor and Oscar nominee, 38, spent Friday evening at the Royal Yacht Squadron in nearby Cowes, a prestigious yacht club that counts Queen Elizabeth II as a patron. Prince Philip serves as the club’s admiral. The private-members club is a roughly 30 minute drive from the church.

"It’s a private members club and very private so I’m sure it was perfect for him," islander Ross Findon told PEOPLE.

The Reception

After the ceremony, the couple and their guests headed to a reception at Mottistone Manor, which is now owned by the country’s National Trust

.The 650-acre estate holds historical significance as it was first mentioned in Britain’s famed Domesday Book, a survey of England dating back to 1086. (Yes, you read that correctly.) The oldest parts of the home that currently stands on the estate date back to the 15th century.

"It’s a beautiful place and the gardens are very picturesque," Findon who spotted the groom in nearby Cowes just last weekend, tells PEOPLE. "There are sprawling lawns surrounding by roses, a nearby woodland with a stunning bluebell meadow that is really special. It’s a very romantic little spot."

A local tells PEOPLE Hunter’s family is related to the Nicholsons, who once owned Mottistone Manor and now live on the estate as tenants.

"Sophie is one of the Nicholsons, which is why they have chosen to have it here," the local source says. "The Nicholson family used to own the manor until they sold it to the National Trust … It’s a beautiful house."

Another local tells PEOPLE that Sophie’s great grandmother, also named Sophie, is the sister of first Lord Mottistone, General Jack Seely. Current tenant Lord Charles Nicholson has a house in Hampshire and not there all the time. His father used to live there permanently after he retired.

Yet in traditional British fashion, locals aren’t making a giant fuss about the couple’s hush-hush nuptials.

"Honestly people just aren’t that bothered about it, so there’s been no big ‘talk of the town’ or anything like that," says the source.

However, the source says locals have spotted “deliveries coming and going” on “lorries” (that’s trucks to us Americans).

"The manor is right opposite the church so it will be very private," the source adds, "which I’m sure was the intention."
