Suave: Colin Firth cut a figure much younger than his 53 years when he stepped out in New York City on Wednesday

He's often been talked about as the English version of George Clooney.

But Colin Firth deserves praise in his own right for his look after he cut a figure much younger than his 53 years when he stepped out in the US actor's home nation on Wednesday.

The Railway Man actor looked extremely dapper in a black suit as he arrived at the Trump hotel in New York City with his assistant in tow.

Colin added a crisp white shirt and a dark blue tie to his dignified look, which was completed by a pair of shiny black shoes.

The star wore his trademark thick-rimmed spectacles as he strolled along the street looking very relaxed with his hands in his pockets.

Colin appeared to be in great spirits as he giggled away while being pictured which showed off his pearly white teeth.

Hugh Grant apologizes for Daily Show behavior: 'Jon Stewart correct to give me kicking'

By Adam Edelman / NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

Jon Stewart is no fan of Hugh Grant, who was reportedly upset that a film clip provided for his "Daily Show" appearance was below par. Stewart's retort: "Well, then make a better f------ movie." Oops.

One week after funnyman Jon Stewart slammed Hugh Grant as a "big pain in the a--," the snarky British actor took full responsibility for his 2009 Daily Show transgressions, admitting he deserved the public spanking from Stewart.

"Turns out my inner crab got the better of me with TV producer in 09," Grant, who appeared in this year's fantasy blockbuster Cloud Atlas, tweeted Friday. "Unforgivable. J Stewart correct to give me kicking," he wrote.

During an on-stage discussion last week with fellow comedian Stephen Colbert, Stewart said Grant displayed diva-like qualities backstage when the romantic-comedy actor appeared on The Daily Show in 2009.
