Eddie Redmayne, Tom Hiddleston Kickstart BAFTA Celebrations, Remember Albert Finney

Patrick Stewart, Michelle Yeoh, Jeremy Irons, Joanna Lumley and Jason Isaacs were also on hand at the pre-awards bash in London.

Eddie Redmayne, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Michelle Yeoh, Jeremy Irons and Anna Friel honored the charitable side of BAFTA on Friday night as London began its celebrations in anticipation of Sunday’s film awards with the lavish annual Film Gala, this year at the city’s Savoy Hotel.
Host of the Sunday film ceremony, Joanna Lumley, was showing no nerves ahead of her gig, saying she was “thrilled, looking forward to it so much." Returning for a second year to front the ceremony, Lumley told THR, “you don’t have to stress because it’s just me saying ‘isn’t our industry great and here are the brilliant people in it’.”
The death of actor Albert Finney was fresh on everyone’s mind, with Lumley saying she "adored: him. "We did A Rather English Marriage – I did it with him and Tom Courtenay. I couldn’t have loved him more. He was generous, funny, wise, ridiculously attractive. Everyone adored him, men and women alike. We used to do The Times crossword puzzle together.”
Hiddleston also worked with Finney and remembered him fondly. "He was the most kind, the most gracious, the most inspiring actor,” Hiddleston said. “It was really my first significant professional acting role, playing Randolph Churchill in The Gathering Storm, in which he (Finney) played Winston Churchill. I was 20 years old, very nervous, and he could not have been more charming and helpful, kind and considerate. And he bought me a whiskey afterwards!”
As for the evening’s gala, the aim of which was to raise funds to benefit those wanting to break into the industry, Hiddleston explained how BAFTA does “so much work, often unsung work, about leveling the playing field for everyone, keeping the doors open for everyone no matter where you’re from, whatever background. If you have a story to tell, BAFTA want to hear from you.”
Added Yeoh: "Any opportunity you get to be able to shine the light on a charity is always good. It’s important that we are not just seen to be doing something frivolous or glamorous, but it’s got heart and it’s got soul because I think the movies that we do have heart and soul, so it all ties in.”
Change is being seen, claimed Jason Isaacs. "When you work in the industry, and you may not know what BAFTA is doing, but you see around you the landscape is changing in terms of the number of women, people of color and people from different social backgrounds coming through the industry," he said.
After a champagne reception, a Great Gatsby-themed dance opened proceedings with host Claudia Winkleman welcoming on stage recent winners of the BAFTA young presenters’ scheme.

Hold on to your ovaries, ladies – here’s Tom Hiddleston holding a puppy

Metro
Pascale Day
November 10, 2017

Oh, is it Christmas already? Because this was weirdly on the top of our list. Twice.

Yes, Tom Hiddleston was spotted carrying a teeny tiny Cocker Spaniel through London this week.

Now, there could be a number of reasons for the debut of this furry little fella:

One: this is a therapy dog to help Tommy Hiddles through Taylor Swift album release week, and the number of songs about him will dictate how long he gets to keep the puppy.

Two: T-Hidz is due to appear in Hamlet at RADA in London, and he is using this pup is the perfect wriggly little stand-in for a skull during rehearsals at home.

10 Times When Loki Was Actually Low-Key

Pop Sugar
BRITTNEY STEPHENS

It's been a busy few years for Loki — as well as Tom Hiddleston, the actor who portrays him — and things have only gotten more eventful since Thor: Ragnarok hits cinemas. Even though Loki is a dangerous supervillain and spends most of his time throwing knives, making himself invisible, and plotting against his adoptive brother, deep down he's really just like the rest of us. Loki, too, likes to curl up with a good book, kick back and relax at home, and even hang out with kids — lest we forget, he literally has all the time in the world. In honour of the movie's release, we're taking a look at some of the times Loki was actually low-key.

 1. Pondering his life

2. Public Speaking

5. Babysitting

Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston share a giggle in their costumes as they film Avengers 4 in Atlanta

Daily Mail

They were first spotted filming scenes for the new superhero movie Avengers 4 on Wednesday.
And Chris Hemsworth, 34, and Tom Hiddleston, 36, were back at it on Thursday in downtown Atlanta.

Chris, who plays the hammer-wielding Thor, and Tom, who plays Thor's brother Loki, looked like they were having a ball on set.

Hard at work: Chris Hemsworth, 34, and Tom Hiddleston, 36, were again seen filming Avengers 4 on Thursday in downtown Atlanta.

The untitled Avengers film will be released on May 3, 2019. Chris can currently be seen in Thor: Ragnarok.

This sighting comes just days after Downey Jr confirmed he was a part of Avengers 4 with an Instagram photo; he will be reprising his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man.

The snap shows shows Stark's much smaller and more padded director's chair in front of three others labelled Scott Lang, Natasha Romanoff and Steve Rogers.

2018 Golden Globes: With Riz Ahmed out, Benedict Cumberbatch or Ewan McGregor may get revenge after Emmy loss

Gold Derby
Jeffrey Kare
TV  October 24, 2017 2:00P

At last year’s Golden Globe Awards “The Night Of” earned three nominations: Best Movie/Miniseries as well as Best Movie/Mini Actor for its two stars, Riz Ahmed and John Turturro. Though it went home empty handed at that event, Ahmed was recently able to win a Primetime Emmy for his leading role, which was among the five total prizes the crime drama took home from the television academy.

Since “The Night Of” already competed at the Golden Globes last year, it won’t be in contention this year. Therefore Ahmed won’t be able to repeat his victory from the Emmys, opening the door for a whole new winner in the Best Movie/Mini Actor race, including several he defeated at the Emmys in September. In the past 16 years the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has chosen a wide variety of winners in this category, ranging from movie stars to veterans to popular Brits to actors in biographical roles. Here are six strong contenders who fit at least one of those molds.

In the past 16 years the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has chosen a wide variety of winners in this category, ranging from movie stars to veterans to popular Brits to actors in biographical roles. Here are six strong contenders who fit at least one of those molds.

Benedict Cumberbatch, “Sherlock: The Lying Detective”

He has contended at the Globes twice before. The first time was in this category for the second season of “Sherlock” in 2013, where he lost to Kevin Costner for “Hatfields & McCoys.” The second time was on the film side for his performance as Alan Turing in “The Imitation Game,” where he lost Best Film Drama Actor to Eddie Redmayne for “The Theory of Everything.” If Cumberbatch is nominated again this year, would a third time be the charm? HFPA members have shown love to Brits in this category six times in the past 16 years, including last year’s champ Tom Hiddleston (“The Night Manager”).

Jude Law, “The Young Pope”

After having been nominated three times before on the film side for his performances in “The Talented Mr. Ripley” (Best Film Supporting Actor, 2000), “A.I. Artificial Intelligence” (Best Film Supporting Actor, 2002), and “Cold Mountain” (Best Film Drama Actor, 2004), Law’s performance as Pope Pius XIII could make him a first-time nominee on the TV side. Like Cumberbatch, he is a Brit, and HFPA members love to award them in this category every once in a while.

SPOILER: The Marvel Cameo in Thor: Ragnarok That You Haven't Heard About Yet

Popsugar October 20, 2017 by RYAN ROSCHKE

Warning: we're about to dish on a major Marvel spoiler in Thor: Ragnarok.

While that other surprise celebrity cameo in Thor: Ragnarok came out of left field, there's one character appearance that makes a whole lot of sense. Early on in the third installment of the standalone Thor films, we check back in with none other than Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). Basically, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) go to Earth to find their father, Odin (Anthony Hopkins), whom Loki has left stranded in a human retirement home. Sadly, the human retirement home has been completely demolished. Loki then suddenly vanishes from Thor's side, and only a small card with a Bleecker Street address is left behind. Thor goes to the address to find our mystical brooding doctor, complete with his magical cape.

Doctor Strange's appearance is actually kind of a no-brainer. Their big scene gives us serious déjà vu: Thor across from Doctor Strange, drinking a huge beer stein that never seems to empty, asking about Loki's whereabouts. The reason it feels so familiar is it's pretty much an exact replication of one of the postcredit scenes for the Doctor Strange origin story film. Except this time, we have context.

Is Gorgeous About Tom Hiddleston? Taylor Swift's New Song References "Ocean Blue Eyes" So Many Times

Bustle
Sabienna Bowman

It is a truth universally acknowledged that when Taylor Swift drops a new single, the internet will promptly begin speculating whom the song is about. It happened with the first single she dropped from Reputation, "Look What You Made Me Do," and the interwebs quickly determined the song centered around her infamous VMAs feud with Kanye West. It happened again with her second single, "...Ready For It," which, apparently is about her time dating former One Direction member Harry Styles. So whom is Taylor Swift's "Gorgeous" about? The internet has plenty of hypotheses, but given how many times blue eyes come up, it almost certainly has to be the case that "Gorgeous" is about Tom Hiddleston.

Because Swift has a long and storied history of attributing her former flames (and feuds) as inspiration for her songs, it's no surprise that people are certain that "Gorgeous" is about #Hiddleswift. A few notable examples include, allegedly, Taylor Lautner in "Back to December," Jake Gyllenhaal in "All Too Well," Joe Jonas in "Forever and Always," and the list goes on. And there are even some more obvious mentions. Most likely, "Style" is about Harry Styles, and "Dear John" is about John Mayer. And, come on, "Gorgeous" being about Hiddleston, just makes so much sense.

Tom Hiddleston: ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ tests Loki's boundaries

Philstar Global
October 4, 2017

(As released) It has been four years since audiences have seen Tom

Hiddleston don Loki’s golden horns on the big screen, and now the "God of Mischief" is back in Philippine cinemas this October 25 for "Thor: Ragnarok."

On the set of "Thor: Ragnarok," Hiddleston talked about the adopted son of Odin, and the many complex relationships that happen to revolve around the trickster’s mercurial spirit.

“The opposite of love is not hate but indifference,” Hiddleston discussed how Thor being indifferent to Loki is troubling for the character from a familial point of view. “That’s a defining feature of his character. I don’t belong in the family; I hate my brother. And the idea his brother’s like, yeah, whatever, it’s an interesting development.”

“The two of them are placed in such an extraordinary situation where everything is unfamiliar; that their familiarity, literally, as family members becomes important.” The now famous scene from the teaser trailer of the Asgardian brothers fighting side by side shows how the siblings seem to have come terms—at least temporarily—with their complicated relationship.

“Loki’s feelings towards his family members are complex, to say the least,” Hiddleston reflected on the first film. “The moment of Thor’s ascension, he finds out he doesn’t belong there at all. I never conceived of Loki’s emotional connections to Odin or Thor as malevolent. He just wants to have a go on the throne, which he does.”

When it comes to complex relationships, Hulk knows a thing or two about burying your feelings. The big green guy is added to the mix in Ragnarok and Hiddleston thinks fans are going to enjoy their interaction, “In The Avengers, Hulk and Loki never really had a conversation. It was more, more of a physical meeting, an extended group hug, shall we say,” joked Hiddleston. “So it’s fun when the two of them meet.”

The Night Manager seasons 2: Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie and Olivia Colman reportedly 'bac

INDEPENDENT
Jack Shepherd

Fans of Tom Hiddleston’s extended James Bond audition - AKA The Night Manager - have been pining for a sequel ever since the BBC show finished airing last year.

Earlier this month, director Susanne Bier confirmed a second series is "slowly being developed,” saying:  "We all very much want to do a season two, but the thing we absolutely do not want is to do something that does not live up to the level of season one. That would be a really bad idea.”

New reports claim Hiddleston - along with co-stars Hugh Laurie and Olivia Colman - have signed up for another series, an insider telling The Daily Express they producers are “just working on the story, and then it’s down to availability.”

THE SUN
By Hannah Shaw
7th March 2017, 10:57 am  Updated: 7th March 2017, 11:31 am

The contest to play James Bond is still anyone’s game with a number of suave men in the running.

While Aidan Turner has been the bookies favourite for quite some time, he is currently being pipped to the post by Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbender.

Sun Bets are currently taking bets on over 50 male actors to take on the role of James Bond as Daniel Craig’s replacement.

The favourite is currently split between Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbender, who both have odds of 11/4.

Trailing behind are War & Peace’s James Norton, Poldark’s Aidan Turner and Luther’s Idris Elba, but what are their chances?

Who’s in the running for the next Bond?

Tom Hardy

Tom Hardy has fuelled the rumour mill by staying quiet when questioned on the role
Age: 39

Sun Bets odds: 11/4

Where do we know him from? Actor Tom Hardy is no stranger to the big screen having appeared recently in Mad Max: Fury Road, The Revenant and Legend.

The British actor has recently appeared in the BBC series Taboo and has fuelled Bond rumours after refusing to comment on whether he would like to take over from Daniel Craig, for fear of jinxing his chance.

Michael Fassbender

Michael Fassbender made his Alien debut in the 2012 prequel, Prometheus
Age: 39

Sun Bets odds: 11/4

Where do we know him from? Fans may recognise Fassbender from 2012 film Prometheus, and the star has hit the big screen again with his role in Assassin’s Creed.

Sun Bets place the actor’s odds at 20/1, however in an interview with GQ Fassbender said: “As an acting role, I think Daniel has done such a cracking job in this age group.

“I think the franchise needs something new.”

James Norton

James Norton made an impression on viewers during his stint on BBCs Happy Valley
Age: 31

Sun Bets odds: 7/2

Where do we know him from? Norton has an impressive accolade of TV credits behind him.

Viewers may recognise James from BBC’s Happy Valley, where he played the role of Tommy Lee Royce.

James has also starred in Granchester, Black Mirror and War & Peace.

Aidan Turner

Aidan has become a sex symbol thanks to his topless action in Poldark
Age: 33

Sun Bets odds: 4/1

Where do we know him from? Most viewers will recognise Aidan as heartthrob Ross Poldark.

Aidan started his career on stage but soon found fame on the big screen after appearing in The Hobbit trilogy.

The 33 year old took the lead in Bond odds back in August, however refused to comment on the rumours at MCM Expo.

'Weren't you tempted to propose?' Tom Hiddleston giggles nervously after being teased about stunning Kong: Skull Island co-star Brie Larson

DAILY MAIL

PUBLISHED: 12:32 EST, 3 March 2017 | UPDATED: 12:57 EST, 3 March 2017

They are two of the most well-renowned actors on the planet at the moment - and are starring together in new blockbuster action movie Kong: Skull Island.

And British hunk Tom Hiddleston revealed he got to film some pretty romantic scenes - including one in an open-doored helicopter at sunset over the Pacific ocean - with his stunning co-star Brie Larson.

So BBC Radio 2 show host Chris Evans couldn't resist trying to find out if there was a budding love affair between the stars when Tom stopped by the radio studios on Friday morning.

Though Tom did admit a Huey helicopter ride with Brie over a sunlit ocean was 'one of the great gigs'.

The Eton-educated actor, who has been tipped as a possible replacement for Daniel Craig as James Bond, told The Chris Evans Breakfast Show: 'Brie Larson and I got to go in the island of Oahu in Hawaii, at four o'clock in the afternoon, with no doors on the helicopter, the blades running..'

Chris interjected and jokingly said: 'Brie Larson sitting next to you, that must have been terrible.'

Tom Hiddleston’s ‘Mystery Blonde’ Is Actually Famous Historian Dr. Suzannah Lipscomb, and she's not 'his'

HUFFPOST UK
Sarah Ann Harris
News Reporter, The Huffington Post UK

Everyone knows that when a male celebrity leaves a venue alongside a woman, she must be identified by her hair colour and preferably be a “mystery”.

So when Night Manager star Tom Hiddleston was seen exiting a London restaurant at the same time as one, the Sun was quick to label her his “mystery blonde...”

Last night @twhiddleston left the same venue as me. Paps outside; I tried to block their view: thereby being in his way when he came to exit

This “mystery” woman is in fact historian Dr Suzannah Lipscomb.

Lipscomb has written a number of books on Tudor England, as well as presenting history programmes on the BBC and Channel 5.

And no she is not “Hiddleston’s” either.

She explained on Twitter before the story was even published that she was simply leaving the Ivy Club in central London at the same time.

Delightful as it is to have been pictured with @twhiddleston, I am embarrassed to have given The Sun a bogus story.

UK bookmaker suspends betting on Tom Hiddleston to be James Bond

FOX 411
April 15, 2016

LONDON –  A British bookmaker has suspended betting on British actor Tom Hiddleston to be the next James Bond.

Coral says a flurry of bets in recent days made "The Night Manager" star the 2-1 favorite to replace Daniel Craig to be the next 007. But after a particularly large wager, the odds plummeted and betting was suspended.

Coral says Luther star Idris Elba and Homeland actor Damian Lewis had been Bond front-runners in previous months. But Coral spokeswoman Nicola McGeady, says while earlier in the year "there was a gamble" on those two, nothing has "come close to the recent gamble on Hiddleston."
