ROSAMUND PIKE: FILMS IN 2013 INCLUDE THE WORLD'S END AND A LONG WAY DOWN (FAN SHARE) BY: ELIZABETH DARRELL

Rosamund Pike has had a busy couple of years, but she's yet to hit the jackpot with a big budget movie that manages to introduce her to audiences around the world. Although she was seen in 'Wrath of the Titans' and 'Jack Reacher' in the last two years, both geared to be international blockbusters, the films ended up underperforming and barely staying on anyone's radar.

However, Pike's seemed to veer away from those types of films of late, and her next few films show a lot of promise. Pike will first be seen in 'The World's End' in august, starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Martin Freeman. The film deals with five friends who unite for an epic pub crawl, and end up becoming humanity's only hope for survival. Although people have been comparing this with the other apocalypse comedy 'This Is The End', it looks like both films have vastly different tones.

Liam Neeson On 'Taken 3:' 'Just Bad Parenting' By Scott Harris | Feb 28, 2013 | 11:11 AM (NEXT MOVIE)

Last fall, Liam Neeson returned to cinemas with "Taken 2" and fans flocked to the theaters to find out one thing: Exactly how on Earth did Neeson's badass agent Bryan Mills manage to let his daughter get kidnapped a second time? Seriously, what happened to those special skills of his?

Well, it looks like Neeson himself was thinking the same thing, because in an interview with a Dublin radio station, he revealed that there won't be a "Taken 3" for the simple reason that it would be really dumb.

That's telling it like it is, Liam!

"I don’t think there’ll be a 'Taken 3.'  She can’t get taken again," Neeson told the folks at 98fm.  "That’s just bad parenting."

Rosamund Pike, Tom Cruise’s latest co-star, is a classically trained Brit skilled in blockbusters Films like 'Jack Reacher' expand opportunities, says star of 'Made in Dagenham' and 'Pride and Prejudice' (NY DAILY NEWS)

BY MIKE HAMMER / NEW YORK DAILY NEWS PUBLISHED: TUESDAY, DECEMBER 25, 2012, 6:00 AM UPDATED: TUESDAY, DECEMBER 25, 2012, 6:00 AM

British actress Rosamund Pike has quietly become the woman who gives blockbusters their brains.

The beauty who co-stars with Tom Cruise in “Jack Reacher,” which opened last Friday, has previously busted chops as a sexy villainess in the 2002 James Bond flick “Die Another Day” and faced off against the Rock in “Doom.”

Earlier this year, she enticed the ancient world as Andromeda in the myth-merizing action sequel “Wrath of the Titans.”

“I’ve had tremendous opportunities to work with some wonderful people on projects that have given me a huge spotlight,” she says of her ass-kicking résumé — after training that would seemingly lean more Streep than Stallone. “It’s been great fun, and gives me the freedom.”

Pike, a classically trained, London-bred daughter of concert musicians and opera performers, performed with Britain’s National Youth Theatre as a teen. She built a solid Shakespearean background even before leaving high school.

“I’ve loved doing those action films,” says Pike, 33. “They’ve provided me with great experiences and opportunity.

“But I would argue actually that ‘Jack Reacher’ is not a classic action film ... and a lot of that has to do with the way Tom approaches it.”

Schindler’s List, my most memorable film: Liam Neeson Serena Menon, Hindustantimes.com

Liam Neeson is best remembered as Qui-Gon Jinn by Star Wars fans. For most others, he’ll always be Oskar Schindler.

The Hollywood actor has been associated with some of the iconic films in the past— be it George Lucas’s Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace (1999) or Steven Spielberg's Schindler’s List (1993).

“I love being part of epic movies. Everything about them is magnificent,” says Neeson, who’s latest, Wrath of The Titans, hit theatres last week.Unlike many others in the film industry, the actor has no trouble picking his best work till date.

When asked about his most memorable movie, he admits, “If I have to pick one, it has to be Schindler’s List.”

Foreign Box Office: 'Wrath of the Titans' Opens No. 1 Overseas, Displacing 'The Hunger Games' (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER)

12:58 PM PDT 4/1/2012 by Frank Segers

"Dr. Seuss' The Lorax" finishes No. 3; "Pirates! Band of Misfits" debuts an animated No. 4.

Blanketing the foreign theatrical circuit over the weekend, Wrath of the Titans easily displaced The Hunger Games as the No. 1 box office attraction overseas, opening to an estimated $78 million at some 13,900 screens in 60 territories.

That’s especially good news for distributor Warner Bros. since the 3D action-fantasy sequel’s 2010 predecessor, Clash of the Titans, drew $332 million from overseas theaters -- more than double its comparable U.S. and Canada box office total.

The special-effects-laden extrapolation from Greek mythology with Sam Worthington returning as Perseus, Liam Neeson as Zeus and Ralph Fiennes as Hades took the No. 1 spot in 46 markets, notably in nine of the top 12 international territories including Korea, France ($3.3 million from 455 venues) and Italy ($1.7 million from 361 situations).

Liam Neeson on 'Wrath of the Titans' godly bromance (OTRC)

Get More: Movies, Liam Neeson 03/30/2012
by OnTheRedCarpet.com Staff

Liam Neeson had big shoes to fill, portraying Zeus in "Wrath of the Titans," but the actor didn't take the task too seriously."All these fake beards and long hair and costumes and stuff - you have to have a giggle," Neeson said on the British morning show "Daybreak," where he appeared with his co-star Ralph Fiennes, who portrays Hades in the film.

"It's a romance, a Godly bromance. We go in very serious - like we're going to do this - and then we catch each other's eyes," Fiennes said of acting opposite Neeson. The 59-year-old actor didn't mind the challenge though, telling OnTheRedCarpet.com at the film's New York premiere, "He's the god of gods. It doesn't get any better than that."

Liam Neeson Vs. Ralph Fiennes (NEXT MOVIE)

By Hillary Atkin

It’s been a couple years since they battled on screen in what became a huge blockbuster, 2010's "Clash of the Titans."

Now, real-life friends Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes are reprising their roles as Greek gods in "Wrath of the Titans." Neeson plays Zeus, king of the gods; Fiennes is Hades, his brother and god of the underworld. These two acting giants first matched wits (and handsomeness) in "Schindler’s List," which scored them a ream of awards nominations and established both as leading men to be reckoned with.

Both were born citizens of the British Empire. Each has taken a different path in film stardom of late, with Neeson known for his recent man-on-a-mission roles and Fiennes renowned for his villainous turn as Lord Voldemort in the "Harry Potter" series. You might think the 6'4" Neeson would come out on top in a matchup with the 6-foot Fiennes. But you might be surprised.

Birth in the British Isles

Liam Neeson: He was born on June 7, 1952, in Ballymena, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, the son of a cook and a school caretaker. He’s the third of the couple’s four children, and their only son. Liam, by the way, is the Irish version of the name William.

Ralph Fiennes: Born on December 22, 1962, in Ipswich, Suffolk, England, he came into the world as Ralph Nathaniel Twisleton Wykeham Fiennes. He’s the eldest of six, whose siblings include actor Joseph Fiennes and director Martha Fiennes.

Advantage: Fiennes. He’s the eighth cousin of the Prince of Wales.

Liam Neeson: 'Wrath of the Titans' review: "A vast improvement on Clash" (DIGITAL SPY)

|By Ben Rawson-Jones

 Director: Jonathan Liebesman; Screenwriter: Dan Mazeau; Starring: Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Sam Worthington, Bill Nighy, Rosamund Pike;
Running time: 120 mins;
Certificate: 12A

It wouldn't take much to better the stale but profitable misfire that was 2010's Clash of the Titans remake. Yet the year's latest unwanted sequel, following in the fumes of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, is a vast improvement on its predecessor and contains enough epic visual scope and spectacle to merit your attention on the big screen. Preferably in IMAX and 3D.

Picking up a decade after the Kraken was sent packing to CGI Hell, Wrath of the Titans involves demi-God Perseus (Sam Worthington and mullet) plotting to rescue his father Zeus (Liam Neeson) and prevent hell from breaking loose. Their lives are in grave danger after Zeus's brother Hades (Ralph Fiennes) and other son Ares (Edgar Ramirez) turn against their relatives.

They make the Mitchell family in EastEnders look functional. So with the help of feisty Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike) and gormless demigod Agenor (Toby Kebbell), Perseus must venture into the Underworld, save daddy and prevent a massive fire-based bit of CGI entitled Kronos from breaking free. The group venture across breathtaking landscapes and encounter many perils such as a Cyclops and a Minotaur.

To the movie's credit, assured pacing ensures that the travellers never dwell in a location for too long and each successive set piece raises the stakes and the excitement levels.

Rosamund Pike turns warrior Queen this week as she takes over the role of Andromeda in Wrath of the Titans (FEMALE FIRST)

We are use to seeing the British actress in the like of Pride and Prejudice and Made In Dagenham but this blockbuster shows that she can be an action heroine. Like many Brit stars Pike kicked off her career in TV with A Rather English marriage before going on to Trial and Retribution IV and Foyle's War. Her big screen debut came in 2002 when she took on the role of Miranda Frost in Die Another Day alongside Pierce Brosnan. The movie was a hit at the box office and went on to take in excess of $431 million worldwide, Pike's movie career was up and running. Since then she has mixed and matched her roles The Libertine with Johnny Depp to period drama Pride & Prejudice. Pride & Prejudice was a big screen adaptation of Jane Austen's novel and saw Pike place the oldest Bennet daughter Jane.

Liam Neeson talks 'Dark Knight Rises' appearance

With July 20 bringing "The Dark Knight Rises," the final installment in the Christopher Nolan/Christian Bale trilogy of "Batman" films, fans have wondered if Liam Neeson (whose Ra's al Ghul character was killed in "Batman Begins") would make another appearance.

ComicBookMovie.com noted that the production notes for Neeson's next film, "Wrath of the Titans," included "Dark Knight Rises" as one of his upcoming projects. CNN recently spoke with Neeson at the press junket for "Wrath of the Titans" to clear this up, and to see what Neeson knows about the film, which has been shrouded in mystery.

"I think so," he said. "I have no idea what the story is about. Nothing. Nothing. Seriously, I'm not sure if I'm still in it. It's a cameo – let's put it that way – if it still survives.”

Liam Neeson says 'Wrath of Titans' 10 times better than first (CITY NEWS TORONTO)

3/27/2012 | Reuters

Stars of the sequel Wrath of the Titans hit the red carpet on Monday in New York to promote their new film.

As the follow-up to the 2010 film, Clash of the Titans the new movie tells the mythical tale of Perseus, who seeks to rescue his father, Zeus from danger after he is kidnapped by his son Ares and brother Hades.

Returning for the second outing is Liam Neeson, who plays Zeus, Ralph Fiennes as the brother Hades and Sam Worthington as Perseus, who said he made sure his character was an improvement from the first installment.

"I just feel I've got a responsibility to an audience to improve, the only reason to do a sequel is to up the ante," said Worthington. On the red carpet Neeson describe the film as being ten times better than the first.

"You actually really care about all the characters including these pompous egotistical Gods. And the thrills and spills are all there and the 3D is quite phenomenal. I was never a fan of 3D until I saw this one - and I say that with all sincerity," Neeson said.

'Olympus Has Fallen:' Gerard Butler Saves Democracy Yet Again (NEXT MOVIE)

By Scott Harris | Mar 18, 2012 |

Between "Wrath of the Titans" and "Prometheus," Greek mythology has pretty much taken over Hollywood these days. So it's only fitting that Gerard Butler, the star of "300," is set to headline the upcoming action thriller "Olympus Has Fallen."

But is it madness? Is it Sparta? No, this... is... the White House!!!

Wait, what? Okay, so the White House is a far cry from Olympus; in fact, according to Google, it's 4982 miles away. But as the residence of the most powerful being int he world, the White House shares symbolic real estate with the home of the gods.

And who better to save it from invasion than King Leonidas himself?

Liam Neeson: Greek gods are all the rage — Wrath of the Titans is coming [Video] (MEMEBURN)

By Michelle Atagana: Managing Ed.

I suppose when I was eight and I watched the original Clash of the Titans with Laurence Olivier, Harry Hamlin and Maggie Smith I did wish there was a sequel.

Then a decade and a bit later when I grew up and watched the remake, I was unimpressed.

So no I actually wasn’t looking for a sequel but now we have one. Warner Bros sent out this larger than life trailer over a week ago and there’s been some interest. Kara Swisher at AllThingsD sounds pretty excited about it or it could just be because it stars Liam Neeson and has A LOT of special effects.

Here is the premise, it’s 10 years later, good old Perseus is chilling on some Greek or Ethiopian (you never know) isle with his kid as a single dad. His wife is either dead, ran off with a better looking guy or Gemma Arterton (the actress that played his love in the last movie) couldn’t be bothered to come back for another installment.

Either way, Perseus is a single dad who finds out that his king of the gods dad has been kidnapped by Kronos, his granddad, a Titan, with the help of his uncle Hades and big brother, Ares (god of war) — following? Good.

Martin Freeman reveals his first encounter with Gollum in The Hobbit! (Morning Spoilers)

A Community star might be in the new Evil Dead. What do action figures reveal about the plot of The Dark Knight Rises? Damon Lindelof breaks down the Alien connections in Prometheus. Plus lots more on Bryan Fuller's Munsters reboot!

Spoilers from here on out!

The Dark Knight Rises

I can't believe there's an inside source on this, but someone is claiming to have seen an early list of the figurines Mattel is making for their 6" Movie Masters line... wait, no, I actually can totally believe that. Anyway, the list reportedly features all the expected names — Batman, Catwoman, Bane, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's police officer John Blake, and Alfred — along with one unexpected entry: Ra's al Ghul. Assuming this is true - and again, I'm kind of dumbfounded we're now debating the veracity of a list of action figures — this raises the question of whether the figure will look like Josh Pence, who is playing the young Ra's in the film, or Batman Begins actor Liam Neeson, who has been widely rumored but still completely unconfirmed to appear in this third film. Either way, this might indicate that Ra's al Ghul plays a larger role in the film than previously expected... or it could just mean that kids really love Liam Neeson and/or Josh Pence, which I could also totally believe. Anyway, as always, grains of salt at the ready. [Comic Book Movie]

The movie has also been given an official release date of July 20, 2012 in both 2D and IMAX formats. [Coming Soon]

The Avengers

Tom Hiddleston discusses the moment where Loki has to just throw Tony Stark out a window:
I did get to throw Tony Stark [Iron Man's alter ego] through a window - which you can see in trailers — all I can tell you is he deserved it. He's got a sharp tongue, that Tony Stark. I had the privilege of throwing Robert Downey Jr. out of a window. So, it's pinch-me moments all the way.
[New York Daily News]

Prometheus

Writer Damon Lindelof talks some more about this movie's connections to director Ridley Scott's original Alien, something the just released trailer didn't make any clearer:
"One part of me sort of wants to be working on something where I can say, ‘This is exactly what this is' without being secretive or mysterious but I think that with the genesis of this a couple of years ago - when Ridley announced that he wanted to make an ‘Alien' prequel - that's where this began and where it's evolved to is this conversation: Is it or isn't it [an 'Alien' prequel]? And I think this little sort of dance that we're doing basically existed prior to anybody seeing anything. Now that people are seeing stuff I think the material kind of speaks for itself. If you're looking at it through the prism of ‘I want it to be that,' you'll notice the way the word ‘Prometheus' comes up [in a way that resembles the 'Alien' classic logo] or look at the production design and the way the whole thing feels. If you're looking at it from the perspective of wanting it to be something more original, I think the trailer accomplishes that by being pretty cool to people who have never even seen ‘Alien.'
"It's accomplishing what we set out to do. I wish that we didn't have to be so mysterious about it but mystery can be a good thing as long as you've got the goods to back it up. In this case, when the movie arrives, one of the most visionary filmmakers in the history of cinema will be putting his cards on the table and I'm just kind of standing behind him with my arms folded."
[Hero Complex]

The Hunger Games

It turns out Taylor Swift and the Civil Wars aren't the only ones contributing original songs to this movie's soundtrack. Other contributors will reportedly include the Decemberists, Win Butler and Regine Chassagne of Arcade Fire, and star Jennifer Lawrence herself, who will sing the song "Rue's Lullaby." Again, how much, if any of this, will actually find its way into the movie itself is an open question. [EW]

Robocop

Director Jose Padilha promises this movie will retain all the social commentary of Paul Verhoeven's original film, and it will indeed stay in Detroit to do it:
"The satire element of RoboCop is, I think, needed today. That kind of social, aggressive satire I haven't seen done well in movies lately. And it's almost like the politics and violence in the world is asking for this: 'Someone please make some satire now!' So we're going to keep that edge."
[Telegraph]

Gravity

Alfonso Cuaron's stranded astronaut movie, in which Sandra Bullock and George Clooney are the lone survivors of a destroyed space shuttle desperately trying to reach the International Space Station before their air runs out, has been given a release date of November 21 in 2D, 3D, and IMAX formats. [Coming Soon]

John CarterHere's another image of star Taylor Kitsch as John Carter. [Comic Book Movie]

The Hobbit

Bilbo Baggins actor Martin Freeman discusses the first scene he filmed, which just happens to be one of the most crucial scenes in the film:
"The first thing I filmed was finding the ring in Gollum's cave. It's good to know, but not play, the importance of the Ring. I'm trying to put a bit more heaviness into it. It's not all comical."
Gollum actor and the film's second unit director Andy Serkis also talks about Freeman's performance in the scene:
"It was great for Martin to start off with that chamber piece. He could find Bilbo within the confines of a one-on-one scene. It was almost stranger for me: for the first couple of days it felt like I was doing an impersonation!"
Finally, Freeman notes the particular challenges of playing Bilbo Baggins, which involves a lot of unusual hobbit-related prosthetics:
"In the normal run of things, there'd be quite a lot going on for me. I've got ears, the wig and the feet, which three more things than an actor normally has… But then I look over at the dwarves and see what they're lugging! They're absolute troopers."
[Comic Book Movie]
The movie's release date is now officially set for December 14 in 2D, 3D, and IMAX formats. [Coming Soon]

Jack the Giant Killer

Warner Bros. has released a promo image for Bryan Singer's gritty fairy tale movie, which has been given a release date of June 15, 2012 in 2D, 3D, and IMAX formats. There's also an official synopsis below. [Coming Soon]
"Jack the Giant Killer" tells the story of an ancient war that is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack, into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend-and gets the chance to become a legend himself.

Dark Shadows

Here's a high-res version of the cast promo photo that was released a while back. Also, we now know the movie's release date is May 11, 2012.

Evil Dead

This is just a rumor, so take it with all due grains of salt, but two actress reportedly auditioned for roles in the film. Specifically, Community costar Gillian Jacobs and Friday Night Lights actress Jurnee Smollett reportedly auditioned, though it's not known if they were trying out for the part of Mila, the drug-addicted young woman who kicks off the demonic possessions, or one of the other characters. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

Here are some promo images for the sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth, which will be released February 10, 2012 in 2D, 3D, and IMAX.

Wrath of the Titans

Here are some promo images for the upcoming Clash of the Titans sequel, which has been given a release date of March 30, 2012 in, yes, all three formats. Coming Soon]

Woman in Black

Here are some promo images from the Daniel Radcliffe starring horror movie. [ShockTillYouDrop]

True Blood

Writer Alexander Woo says he's currently working on episode four of the fifth season, and he will be doing another episode later on this season. He also talks generally about what to expect in season five:
We have gathered to discuss the storylines and themes of Season 5, and scripts for the first half of the season are being written. We are preparing to shoot Episode 1 right now...I've read episodes 1 and 2, and I'm very excited about them...Some of the things that people loved in the first four seasons of ‘True Blood,' you'll be getting more of. And there will also be some surprises that will hopefully delight everyone. We have a sense of what the fans have already enjoyed in the previous seasons, and we're doing our best to give our fans more of that but also leave some room for novelty and surprise.

Chuck

Here's a new promo photo for this Friday's episode, "Chuck vs. the Baby", featuring Cheryl Ladd as Sarah's mother alongside Zachary Levi's Chuck. [multipleverses.com]

Grimm

Here's the official description for episode eight, "Game Ogre", which airs January 13 and kicks off the second half of the season:
AN ESCAPED FUGITIVE'S MURDEROUS RAMPAGE LANDS AT NICK'S FRONT DOOR — An escapee returns to Portland seeking revenge against those who put him behind bars. His unusual strength and high tolerance for pain makes Nick (David Giuntoli) take notice. As the case escalates Nick and Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) are put in danger, and Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) is called into action to help put an end to the convict's deadly rampage.
[KSiteTV]

The Munsters

A ton more details have come out about the Munsters reboot Bryan Fuller is working on for NBC. Assuming this isn't all an elaborate work of fan fiction, check out these details on the rebooted Herman Munster, which seems to give a pretty fair idea of what to expect from this show:
Think Dawson Leery's compassionate, all-supportive dad (from "Dawson's Creek") crossed with Frankenstein's monster. Was created by Grandpa; no other man, besides one he puts together, would of course be good enough for his daughter Lily. Doesn't much look like Fred Gwynne's Frankenstein-looking fellow from the original. This Herman is more of a stud – albeit one with scars. He's a skinny, but rather attractive man in his '30s – though he's stitched together from the body parts of other men and has a mechanical steampunk heart – one that is breaking down. Though Herman does get a heart replacement – thankfully a few of those ‘dead hobo's' turn up under the swimming pool – he's not doing well (he loves too much and it's killing him). Believing he has no choice if he wants Herman to live, Grandpa finds a nice man with a "good heart" for Herman (if you get my drift). A big old softie that adores his family, Herman is his son's best friend and has a passionate relationship with the Mrs.
Look, I liked Pushing Daisies as much as the next guy, but my goodness, if this is true... well, it sounds like it has all the makings of a misfire of David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman proportions, honestly. But hey, judge for yourself - there's much more at the link. [Moviehole]

Kit Harington’s competition for “Arthur and Lancelot” include “Game of Thrones” co-star and Luke Evans

Up and Comers

Kit Harington is still in the game! After the not-so-promising development of Joel Kinnaman being the only one cast in “Arthur and Lancelot” after he tested with the “Game of Thrones” star in London, THR reports Harington could still have a shot. Kinnaman is in negotiations for Lancelot and will be doing chemistry tests with potential Arthurs, including Harington – again. Joining in the competition this time around are Harington’s “Thrones” co-star Richard Madden and fellow British actors Luke Evans and Toby Kebbell.

Director David Dobkin’s vision for the new adaptation of the Camelot legend remains vague with no plot details revealed, though he did tell The Playlist over the summer, “I pulled the legend apart. I only kept a few things. I kept certain characters, I recreated the entire launch of the legend and why it starts the way that it starts, I don’t want to give away too much but it’s always had a flaw. I pulled the flaws out, I reinvented the characters as grounded characters. I took a much more realistic and grounded approach towards everybody, you know why would this character be this way and why would this character be that way? You know Arthur’s superpower is compassion and vision. I will tell you this, the whole thing is wrapped around the birth of democracy as a concept and it’s positing Arthur as the first man to say all men are created equal.”

There’s no way of telling whether Harington has an edge over the others just joining the fray.
