Benedict Cumberbatch: “I’d hate to think anyone is sick of the sight of me”

Actor Benedict Cumberbatch says he hopes he’s not overexposed himself with the amount of roles he’s taken on. Yes, he realises that sounds dirty.

“I’d hate to think anyone is sick of the sight of me, although I wouldn’t blame them. It’s just crazy. I’ve overexposed myself! Actually that sounds a bit dirty,” Cumberbatch tells Adelaide’s The Advertiser.

“I’m proud of every single project. I can genuinely say that it is varied enough, as a slate, to not fear too much overexposure. I just hope the public agree because they are seeing a lot of me.”

Cumberbatch is undoubtedly hot property - although perhaps fans of Sherlock would be quick to suggest more of that on our screens wouldn’t go amiss.

But of course he’s a busy man. Star Trek, 12 Years A Slave and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug have all had Cumberbatch’s name on the cast list. But he seems to be having fun with it. The Oscars photobombing of U2 springs to mind. The actor admits, “It would be really churlish to complain about anything to be honest. I’m very fortunate to be in the position I’m in.”

Gerard Butler films Gods of Egypt in Sydney with Geoffrey Rush

One hundred and fifty million dollar budget film Gods of Egypt, directed by Alex Proyas (I, Robot), starring Gerard Butler (P.S. I Love You) and Geoffrey Rush (Pirates of the Caribbean) is currently being filmed in Sydney.

Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Home and Away Aussie actor Brenton Thwaites will also star in Gods of Egypt, which will be packed with magic, monsters and mystical legends. Australia's diverse landscape will double as the Nile River Valley, and Butler will play Set, the god of darkness who ends up embroiled in a huge battle.

Butler will also play Bodhi in a remake of Point Break, which will be filmed Down Under. It’s believed that he has been filming scenes for both movies while in Australia, and it’s rumoured that he’ll travel to the Gold Coast due to the water tank facilities at Village Roadshow studios – also used for Angelina Jolie’s feature film Unbroken.

Tom Hardy To Star In BBC Miniseries Taboo From Steven Knight And Ridley Scott

BLEEDING COOL
Posted on April 3, 2014 by Linda Ge

Tom Hardy and Steven Knight must have really, really loved working together on Locke, because not only is Hardy going to play a role in season 2 of Knight’s Peaky Blinders series, now they’re doing another TV project together.

Taboo is the name, and it’s a historical thriller, which also has Ridley Scott on board as an executive producer. Filming on the 8-episode series will begin in early 2015. Hardy’s a busy man, after all.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Set in 1813, TABOO follows James Keziah Delaney (Hardy), a rogue adventurer who returns from Africa with 14 ill-gotten diamonds to seek vengeance after the death of his father. Refusing to sell the family business to the East India Company, he sets out to build his own trade and shipping empire and finds himself playing a dangerous game with two warring nations, Britain and America.
