What is it about this show that has turned it into the ABC's biggest drawcard? It has to be more than the cute baby. I suspect it's the dry humour, which tonight kicks off with the local fishmonger philosophising over the meaning of a man ordering a single fish fillet. That and the cast of likeable characters, headed by the harrumphing doctor (Martin Clunes). It rises above the tweeness of Midsomer Murders to rival the easy-viewing delights of SeaChange.
Tonight's season finale settles a host of nagging questions. Will the taciturn doctor finally leave the Cornish village in spite of the unbelievable diversion it offers? What will become of his child's mother, lovely primary school teacher Louisa Glasson? What happens to poor besotted pharmacist Mrs Tishell and plodding PC Joe Penhale? There's bad poetry, wit, burnt offerings and a fittingly dramatic Shakespearean conclusion

I hope Doc Martin show never comes to the US. He is perfect in the UK. American TV producers will only F%&# it up. This is coming from an American! I just wish we would get the episodes a lot sooner. Thanks PBS for airing them! Love British TV and Martin Clunes is a fantastic Actor! Bring on 10 more seasons of Doc Martin!
I agree with you 100%. The last thing we need is Luke Wilson to show up as Doc Peter or something. Hopefully we'll be getting the new season here soon.
