MATTHEW MACFADYEN

I discovered Matthew Macfadyen when I saw him in Pride and prejudice 2005. I had never seen him before and I can not say I fell in love with him instantly, he grew on me. I found his Darcy so irresistible, those eyes just drew me, and I watched it over and over again.

Naturally, I started researching Matthew on the Internet, I knew nothing about him. And I liked what I found, very much indeed! I liked what I saw of him as a person, he seems to be a loving husband and father. I don't think I could be such a fan if he wasn't a good person and from all appearances he is just that. I liked what I found out about him as an artist, he is so very versatile and his roles change like night and day.

He seems to make a point of not being typecast, he has said so and it shows and he also finds the most interesting projects. I have read many of the books in which his work has been based and have not been disappointed yet. I think that is one of the many things that attract me to him, he sort of keeps himself under the radar, but is very smart in choosing his projects.

My favorite role of his is probably the arrogant Mr. Darcy, that's how it all started for me after all, but I have enjoyed so many others, from sexy Tom Quinn (MI-5 / Spooks) to insecure Daniel (Death at a Funeral) to haunted Paul Prior (In my Father's Den) to pious Prior Philip (The Pillars of The Earth) to naughty Logan Mountstuart (Any Human Heart), anything he does is brilliant in my humble opinion.

Now I can not wait to see him play one of my favorite literary characters, Athos, in the new version of The Three Musketeers in 3D. It promises to be spectacular and a very physical role for Matthew. The swashbuckling scenes look brilliant in the trailer! All for one.

I'm also looking forward to seeing him in Joe Wright's Anna Karenina, also one of my favorite novels. Did I say he chooses very interesting projects to work on?

Now of course, you can not forget his extremely good looks! He is one of the most handsome men out there. Just look at that face! Those eyes just draw you like a magnet. I look forward to sharing more about Matthew in the future, this year promises to be an exciting one with The Three Musketeers coming out and Anna Karenina starting production, I'm sure we'll have many opportunities to discuss this lovely actor.

Cheers!

  1. I first fell for the man in Wuthering Heights, and then a bit later in Warriors. He has the most magnificent voice - very soothing.
