COLIN FIRTH

Oldman to cast Firth in new film?

Gary Oldman has revealed plans to return behind the camera, directing Colin Firth in a new project.

The 53-year-old actor, who directed, produced, and wrote the award-winning Nil By Mouth about his own childhood, stars alongside Colin in the new film adaptation of John Le Carre's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, but would love to direct again.

Gary told Esquire magazine: "I've been working, bringing up two boys. I just made a decision: am I gonna be a dad that's always away?

"But now my circumstances have changed, and they're older. I'd like to direct again, and there's things I've written.

"And I think I'm gonna do something with Colin Firth. It was something I'd been thinking about for a while, I can't say what it is, but it's a remake, and when I worked with Colin I thought: here's the guy to do it with."

The Harry Potter and Batman star met Colin for the first time on the production of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and enjoyed working with him.

He said: "We'd never crossed paths. So that was another joy, to be working with Colin, and Benedict [Cumberbatch], particularly. I've admired John [Hurt] for years, so it was a great opportunity to work with him. "

Gary promised the new Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy film was "anti-Bourne" and "anti-Bond", adding "We take it back: there's no gizmos, no gadgets."

The full interview is in the October issue of Esquire.
