The rise of British actor Tom Hardy continues unabated. In the wake of strong appearances in Inception, Warrior and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, he’s clearly being marketed as a major selling point in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, the next saga in the Batman franchise. He plays Batman’s muscular nemesis Bane.
Hardy is surely an improvement on the character’s last screen outing, in the dreadful Batman and Robin (1997), in which pro wrestler Jeep Swenson had a hapless stab at the role.
Those who can’t wait for next July, when The Dark Knight Rises finally opens, will want to know that the film’s opening few minutes will be screened in IMAX cinemas on December 21.
Word is this teaser’s all about Bane’s past history with Christian Bale’s Batman.
