Ringo Starr: Beatles legend designs boot to benefit WaterAid

Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr has designed a boot to raise money for WaterAid through a charity auction arranged by clothing company Timberland.

There will be just 75 pairs of the unique boot, featuring Starr’s artwork and a rare personal signature. The boots will be particularly distinctive as they will only come in a men’s size 8 – Starr’s own shoe size.

Starr said: “For 30 years, WaterAid has brought clean water to millions of people in the world’s poorest communities. This partnership with Timberland will allow others to make a real difference in these people’s lives, and the boots are a reminder I’m with them every step in this journey.”

Timberland’s charity initiative, called ‘Canvas that Cares’, will see several celebrity-​designed boots being auctioned off for charity. The eco-​friendly shoes are made from bionic canvas, derived from recycled plastic bottles.

The auction will launch on eBay on 1 December with a starting bid of $250 per set. It total, it aims to raise at least $18,750 for WaterAid.
