A number of actors have signed on for the big screen adaptation of Summer in February. Based on the novel by Jonathan Smith, the story takes place at the Newlyn School of artists at the turn of the century and centers on the bohemian Lamorna Group. Billed as “a true tale of love, liberty and scandal,” THR reports that Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The First Avengers), Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), Ophelia Lovibon (Mr. Popper’s Penguins), and Hattie Morahan (The Bank Job). Christopher Menaul, who helmed the U.K.’s Prime Suspect, is onboard to direct and Smith adapted his own book for the screen. Members of the Lamorna Group included painter Alfred Munnings and artists Harold and Laura Knight.

Cooper has had a big year, breaking out with the Sundance drama The Devil’s Double and going on to star in Captain America and My Week with Marilyn. He’ll next be seen in the feature film adaptation of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Production on Summer in February is set to begin in January.
