LONDON CRITICS CIRLE FILM AWARD NOMINATIONS (RTE .IE/TEN)


The Guard has been nominated in the British Film of the Year category of the London Critics' Circle Film Awards 2011.

The Brendan Gleeson comedy competes against Kill List, Shame, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and We Need to Talk About Kevin for the honour.

The Guard writer and director John Michael McDonagh has also been nominated in the Breakthrough British Filmmaker category.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Drive lead the nominations for the awards with six each, in categories including Film of the Year and Actor of the Year.

We Need To Talk About Kevin starring Tilda Swinton garnered five nominations, while Steve McQueen's Shame and The Artist both have four nods each.

The 32nd annual awards will take place on January 19 in London.
