The casts of “Breaking Bad” and “The Good Wife” will compete for best dramatic ensemble at the Screen Actors Guild Awards next month.
They are going against the casts from “Boardwalk Empire,” “Game of Thrones” and “Dexter.”
The SAG Awards will be presented at 8 p.m. ET Jan. 29 on TBS and TNT.
The comedy ensemble nominees are the casts from “Modern Family,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “30 Rock,” “Glee” and “The Office.”
Nominees for top comedy actress are Betty White of “Hot in Cleveland,” Edie Falco of “Nurse Jackie,” Tina Fey of “30 Rock,” and Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara, both of “Modern Family.”
Nominees for top comedy actor are Jon Cryer of “Two and a Half Men,” Alec Baldwin of “30 Rock,” Steve Carell of “The Office,” and Ty Burrell and Eric Stonestreet, both of “Modern Family.”
The choices for top dramatic actress are Julianna Margulies of “The Good Wife,” Glenn Close of “Damages,” Kyra Sedgwick of “The Closer,” Kathy Bates of “Harry’s Law” and Jessica Lange of “American Horror Story.”
The selections for top dramatic actor are Kyle Chandler of “Friday Night Lights,” Bryan Cranston of “Breaking Bad,” Steve Buscemi of “Boardwalk Empire,” Michael C. Hall of “Dexter” and Patrick J. Adams of “Suits.”
The big surprise is that “Homeland,” the new Showtime drama that drew rave reviews, didn’t gain any attention.
Betty White is also a nominee for top actress in a TV movie for “The Lost Valentine” from ”Hallmark Hall of Fame.” She will face Maggie Smith of “Downton Abbey,” Kate Winslet of “Mildred Pierce,” Emily Watson of “Appropriate Adult” and Diane Lane of “Cinema Verite.” Smith and Winslet were both winners at the Emmys.
The nominees for top actor in a TV movie are Laurence Fishburne of “Thurgood,” Greg Kinnear of “The Kennedys,” Guy Pearce of “Mildred Pierce” and Paul Giamatti and James Woods of “Too Big to Fail.”
The probable winners? The casts for “Breaking Bad” and “Modern Family,” Bowen and Burrell of “Modern Family,” Cranston, Margulies, Smith and Giamatti.
