Downton Abbey - Third season starting to film and fire alarm went off (Daily Mail)



The culprit? Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville, pictured right with co-star Elizabeth McGovern, has been fingered for a fire alarm going off


Fire drama is such a drag for Downton.  The cameras are once again rolling at Berkshire’s Highclere Castle for the third series of hit ITV costume drama Downton Abbey – and there’s as much drama off-screen as there is on.

The cast are staying at celebrity chef Marco Pierre White's gastropub and hotel The Carnarvon Arms, just a stone's throw away in Highclere Estate, and there was a real-life drama in the early hours of Wednesday when the fire alarm went off.

'It was about 4.30am and everyone filed out of their rooms and into the car park looking very sleepy-eyed and rather annoyed,' I'm told. 'It seems someone was having a cheeky cigarette in their room, which set off the alarm.' I hear Hugh Bonneville, 48, who plays the Earl of Grantham, was the culprit.
