In their popular period drama series, one of them lives upstairs in luxurious and decadent surroundings while the other waits on the aristocracy.
But there was certainly no class divide for Elizabeth McGovern and Joanne Froggatt as they both stole the show on the red carpet tonight.
The Downton Abbey stars dazzled for the flashbulbs as they arrived at the Royal Opera House in London for this year's Orange Bafta Film Awards.
