Scottish actor Gerard Butler is replacing Eric Bana in the upcoming thriller, Brilliant, it has been reported this week.
Directed by Robert Luketic (Killers) and penned by Gillian Gorfil and Elizabeth Shorten, the story centers on a small-time criminal who teams with a female thief to pull off the biggest diamond heist of all time.
Bana, who was first attached to the role back in September 2011, had recently bowed out to now appear opposite Rebecca Hall (The Town) in John Crowley’s untitled thriller.
Cameron Diaz will portray Butler’s female accomplice, but producers are now looking for the female lead.
