Jeremy Irons has suggested that the movie industry now takes advantage of attractive young men in the same manner it has previously done with women.

The actor told the Evening Standard that his son Max, who has starred in Dorian Gray and Red Riding Hood, had to learn about the business for himself if he chose to continue in the industry

"The business now tends to want pretty young people and uses them up and spits them out if they can't do it," Irons said. "It used to happen to a small extent to girls when I started.

But it didn't happen to guys like it does now."

He added: "Obviously, if Max wants advice, he'll get it from me. But he's going to have to find out the reality of this job for himself.
