After making her name as a gorgeous scene-stealer, the English actor is dressing down, buffing up and packing heat.
It takes until halfway through Rian Johnson's clever time-travel sci-fi thriller, Looper, for Emily Blunt to appear, but when she does - as a gun-toting farmer and single mum - she's unforgettable. Johnson has even called Blunt his secret weapon.
''There was a bit of pressure,'' the garrulous 29-year-old admits while promoting this year's opening film at the Toronto International Film Festival.
"I really wanted to embrace the physicality."
