BACK ON THE BOX
THE jewel in ITV’s festive crown. Writer Julian Fellowes has promised to knock the socks off fans of his upmarket soap with this one-off special.

Expect Matthew and Lady Mary to get it on at last, much to Sir Richard’s fury. But will innocent Bates face the gallows over the death of his ex-wife? Will Sybil elope with her chauffeur? And will Badly Bandaged Boy (Patrick) return to be revealed as the Earl’s lost heir after all?

These are the questions. Only Fellowes knows the answers. He’s left us with more loose ends than a gastric flu bug. The only thing we can be sure of is that he won’t disappoint.
