The former Bond villain and lead in Starz’s upcoming pirate drama Black Sails was asked whether he’d prefer to be on a sleepy drama like the ITV/PBS hit rather than his action-heavy new show.

“Any day of the week, I’d prefer to be on the show I am now,” Stephens said. “I appreciate Downton Abbey for what it is. I don’t regularly tune in. It’s not really a show I enjoy — It’s just not really what I enjoy watching. Playing this kind of thing for me is like going on an exotic vacation because we don’t do this kind of stuff in the UK. … I’ve seen [UK shows], I’ve done it, I don’t want to do it for the rest of my life. This is fantastic story and production values, that’s what I want to be involved in.”

Alan Rickman - Die Hard Anniversary - Bad to the Bone

BY: FRANK DIGIACOMO

You really don't need to watch the clip to understand this about the franchise: Alan Rickman, who played  deliciously contemptuous Hans Gruber n the first film, remains, far and away, the best Die Hard baddie of the franchise. His simpering imitation of an American hostage when McClane first encounters him is a thing of enduring beauty.

Why Rickman hasn't been made a Bond villain by now is beyond me.

'Sherlock' star Benedict Cumberbatch to play Bond villain? He could square up to Daniel Craig in the 24th 007 movie, due in 2014 (NME)

Benedict Cumberbatch is reportedly being lined up to play the next Bond villain.

According to The Express, the Sherlock actor could square up to Daniel Craig in the 24th Bond movie, which is expected to come out in 2014.

A source apparently told the tabloid: "Benedict is considered perfect Bond villain material. Work on the next film will begin next year and the plan is for Benedict to be on board. He grew up watching Bond, so it would be a childhood ambition fulfilled. Playing a Bond villain is one of the plum roles in film history and he'd jump at the chance."
