Could this be why the wedding is reportedly on hold?

It’s believed that Jennifer Aniston has been hooking up with her old flame, Gerard Butler despite being engaged to Justin Theroux.

Nonetheless, a source told heat magazine how the pair have been in contact and even went for dinner in LA. Well, more specifically Gerard went over to chez Aniston.

“While Justin was in New York, Gerard called up Jen to meet for coffee – Jen is very private, so she had Gerard over to the house.”

“They’ve also been laughing and flirting on the phone. He is just the person Jen needs in her life right now – she’s been so cheered up by his calls.”

After Jen saw her latest movie, Wanderlust, in which she stars alongside new man Justin Theroux, tank at the US box office last weekend, it was the latest setback in a run of bad luck that has left the star in the midst of a fully fledged mid-life crisis.

Opening at number eight behind Tyler Perry's Good Deeds, kid flick Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and Reese Witherspoon's critically panned This Means War, the failure of her movie to take the number-one spot has left industry insiders whispering that America's Sweetheart is not the draw for audiences she used to be.

Gerard Butler has joked he's grateful Ralph Fiennes was in his new film as it put co-star "affair" rumours to rest.
The Hollywood pair appear in Coriolanus - a big screen adaptation of the Shakespeare play that Ralph also directed.

Gerard enjoyed tackling a different role to the romantic comedies he's appeared in in recent years, including The Bounty Hunter starring Jennifer Aniston.

The pair were romantically linked while shooting the film.

Gerard Butler wants to find someone to spend the rest of his life with.

The 'Machine Gun Preacher' star is ready to settle down with someone special, but he admits he hasn't had a great track record with his other relationships.

Butler has previously been romantically linked to Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Aniston and most recently model Sarah Carroll.

"I would love to settle down and share my life with someone," he said.

"But it'll happen when it's going to happen. When I try and plan things in my life they very rarely pan out. And it's often when I think, 'OK, you know what, I don't want to be in a relationship right now for whatever reason', that suddenly I find myself open to one and it happens."

However, the 42-year-old star has ruled out dating any of his co-stars because of previous bad experiences with on-set romances.

"That's a dangerous path. When you're making a film with someone, you get to know them very well indeed, and it's too easy to develop a sort of obsession with them that you think at the time might be love. But it isn't," he added.

"Earlier in my career, I had a couple of relationships with co-stars and both times it was a disaster. It burned itself out in the middle of the film and that is really, really uncomfortable, spending more than half your day working with someone you've just broken up with."
