If Lady Mary’s expression is anything to go by, the tourists who wandered on to the set of Downton Abbey were not very welcome visitors.

Filming in the picturesque village of Lacock was disrupted when a tour guide led up to 50 overseas students on to the High Street in the picturesque village of Lacock, Wiltshire, which was being used to recreate a market scene.

Thrilled to find themselves in the midst of a TV show, the group waved camera phones and selfie sticks. Witnesses said the shoot was interrupted for 45 minutes until they moved on, although a Downton spokesman claimed their presence had no impact on the day and filming continued.

Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary, looked unamused. Others, including Rob James Collier (Thomas Barrow) appeared more relaxed about the visitors.

'DOWNTON ABBEY' SEASON 5, EPISODE 4 FASHION RECAP: LADY MARY WINS EVERYTHING

FASHIONISTA
CHERYL WISCHHOVER 12 HOURS AGO

Spoilers.

This episode of "Downton Abbey" marks the halfway point of the season, and it really should just be called "There's Something About Mary" now, because she is winning everything in the show.  Including all the fake fashion awards in my head.

HOW TO WEAR A RED HAT

Photos: PBS

In this episode, Lady Mary totally schools us in red hat-wearing. The key? Keep it in the jewel-tone family. If this was the InStyle feature which teaches you how to style weird colors like mustard (which is one of my favorite columns in that mag), I'd call the plum coat and red hat a "wild card pairing."

LADY EDITH BLENDS IN

I was really struck by how often Edith's wardrobe makes her blend into the background. First, she was totally camouflaged by the red velvet couch in the library, then she matched the fence while trying to spy on her daughter. Come on, writers, Lady Edith really needs her triumphant moment.

THE "DRESS SHOW"

"Aunt Rosamund's taking me to a dress show." --Lady Mary

"It's good to know you've got your priorities straight." --Lord Grantham

Honestly, could a "Downton Abbey" fashion recapper ask for anything more glorious than AN ACTUAL FASHION SHOW on the show? No. I can now die happy. That androgynous number on the far left (Mary's reaction: "Golly!") looks like something Miuccia would create.

THE BOHO MISS LANE FOX

In case you'd forgotten (I did, and had to consult the Downtonpedia), Miss Lane Fox was formerly engaged to Tony Gillingham, who then broke off the engagement to pursue Mary. Ouch. Anyway, her style looks rather boho. She's the Drew Barrymore of Downton.

BITCH, PLEASE

Downton Abbey spoilers: Lady Mary asks for ??? as she plots naughty weekend with ???

THE MIRROR
Sep 26, 2014 11:40 By Danny Walker

Lady Mary will sensationally asks for contraceptives in the next episode of Downton Abbey as she plots a naughty weekend away with Lord Gillingham.

Lord Grantham's daughter, played by Michelle Dockery, will ask her maid to buy contraceptives for her.

Lord Gillingham, played by Tom Cullen, has been growing ever closer to the Downton Lady and it seems everything will be put in place for them to finally seal the deal - even though they are not married.

In the forthcoming episode it will be Anna Bates, played by Joanne Froggatt, who will sneak off to the chemist to play her part.

Downton Abbey's Lady Edith Will Face Even More Devastation Next Season

VANITY FAIR
Julie Miller
July 29, 2014

Last week we learned that Downton Abbey will finally give Maggie Smith’s Dowager Countess the air time she deserves with an especially juicy plot. (Our Downton mole tells us that the story arc involves a character suddenly resurfacing from her past.) And now, we learn that the makers of Downton, somehow believing that Laura Carmichael’s Lady Edith has not been through enough personal tragedy, will heap even more pain and heartbreak her way during the show’s upcoming fifth season.

We, somewhat naively, thought that after Edith was left at the altar by her handicapped love interest, knocked up by a married man, and consequently abandoned to deliver her bastard child alone, the Downton Abbey writers would—I don’t know—cut the middle Crawley sister a break. But no, in a new panel interview, the cast revealed that Edith will be abused even more than usual.

'Downton Abbey' Season 5 Spoilers, Cast Update: Richard Grant Joining Cast, Has Lady Mary Chosen a Suitor?

BREATHECAST
By Louis Kahn, BREATHEcast News Reporter
Mar 26, 2014 11:21 AM EDT

Many are antsy over the new season of "Downton Abbey" which is being filmed right now in the U.K. The new season will feature Richard E. Grant as an Art Historian named Simon Bricker. It also will feature Rade Serbedzija, who will play a Russian refugee that is staying with the Crowleys because of the Russian Revolution. The biggest surprise may be Lady Mary finding love with one of her suitors. Will the Crowley heir find her match in the new season?

Richard E. Grant tweeted recently that he was enthusiastic about being chosen for a role in "Downton Abbey:" "First day on 'Downton Abbey' duty. I was downstairs in Gosford Park. Have been promoted upstairs. Progress? Will wait and see." The 'upstairs' section is the domain of Lords and Ladies, as opposed to the downstairs which is usually populated by servants.

The Russian revolution will send a refugee named Kuragin to England to be a character in the coming season. Sources say this character fled Russia after the violent revolution at the end of WWI.

Theo James Jokes About Dying After Deflowering Michelle Dockery's Lady Mary on Downton Abbey

E.
by ZACH JOHNSON

Years before he was cast as Four in the Divergent movie, Theo James had a brief but memorable role on PBS' Downton Abbey. The 29-year-old actor stopped by E!'s Chelsea Lately Tuesday, where he opened up about deflowering Michelle Dockery's Lady Mary during the show's first season in 2010.

"I first saw you on Downton Abbey and you had sex with Lady Mary and then you died," host Chelsea Handler told James, whose character, Kemal Pamuk, died of a heart attack in the throes of passion.

"We did that method style," James joked of his now sex scene with Dockery, which was inspired by true events. "Obviously not the death, but I said that I had to do it full-on and be there in the moment in the castle doing it full penetration." He added, "It's incredible sex for him to die midway through."

"Have you ever passed away during sex before?" Handler asked, smiling. "No," the Brit replied.

Michelle Dockery shows her funny side as Detective Lady Mary in new spoof video

It looks like Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery is having a hard time shaking off Lady Mary's straight-laced decorum and plummy accent. Sending up her famous role in a Funny or Die spoof video, Dockery appears as a crime procedural detective named Connie Tough who frequently falls victim to interferences from her aristocratic heiress.

The two minutes of footage is cut together as a trailer for fake cop show Tough Justice and narrated by Mad Men star Jon Hamm showing the British actress as a fearsome American detective solving crimes alongside her increasingly baffled partner (played by The Shield's Michael Chiklis).

'Downton Abbey' Season 4: Lady Mary's Suitors To Be Played By Tom Cullen And Julian Ovenden Posted: 03/02/2013 10:54 am EST | Updated: 03/02/2013 11:00 am EST (HUFFINGTON POST)

Matthew may be out of the picture, but Lady Mary won't be alone for long.

According to The Telegraph, two aristocrats will be visiting Downton in the beginning of Season 4. And as to be expected, they're not courting Edith.

Lady Mary's (Michelle Dockery) suitors will reportedly be played by actors Tom Cullen and Julian Ovenden, with both competing to help the mourning Mary to raise her newborn son.

The search for Lady Mary's new love interest hasn't been an easy one, though. Last month, the Daily Mail reported that Matthew's shoes were difficult ones to fill.

Michelle Dockery devastated by Lady Sybil death Source: Bang Showbiz

Michelle Dockery was "devastated" while filming Lady Sybil's death in 'Downton Abbey'.

The 30-year-old actress ・who portrays Lady Mary in the ITV1 period drama ・ and Laura Carmichael, who plays Lady Edith, were disappointed when Jessica Brown Findlay's alter-ego was killed off, and the brunette beauty really misses her "distinctive" laugh. She said: "We knew a couple of weeks prior to filming the episode what was going happen to it felt like this huge build up. One of the last scenes we shot with Jessica was where the sisters say goodbye to her, and me and Laura Carmichael [Lady Edith] were just devastated playing it.

"We've spent three years of our lives together so Jessica going was as wrench. I miss her laugh, it's really distinctive."

While Michelle was distraught filming Sybil's death, she puts her full trust in 'Downton Abbey' co-creator Julian Fellowes and is "excited" to see what is going to happen to each character in the show.

Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery is a single lady again after splitting from Holby City star Joseph Millson By DAILY MAIL REPORTER PUBLISHED: 20:01 EST, 20 October 2012 (MAIL ON LINE)

Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery has ended her five month relationship to Holby City actor Joseph Millson.

The 30-year-old actress, who plays Lady Mary in the hugely popular show, began dating Joseph earlier this year - and it seemed their relationship was getting stronger by the day.

Last month he accompanied her to Los Angeles for the Emmy Awards, where she was nominated for best dramatic actress.

However, she is said to have dumped the actor, and the 38-year-old is believed to be heartbroken over the split.

A friend of Joseph told The Sunday Mirror: 'He’s heartbroken. The split was unexpected and it’s still very raw for him. Joseph’s a really down-to-earth guy. He’s understandably upset.'

Joseph has recently posted a series of downbeat tweets, including: 'Just wait for someone worth being in a relationship with, stop wasting your time on the ones who don’t deserve you.'

Michelle Dockery nearly spills out of her corset in sexy Love magazine shoot By DAILY MAIL REPORTER PUBLISHED: 18:48 EST, 26 July 2012 | UPDATED: 01:37 EST, 27 July 2012 (MAIL ON LINE)

A whole new costume drama: Michelle Dockery poses in a corset and flowers in her hair for the new issue of LOVE magazine

As Lady Mary Crawley in Downton Abbey, Michelle Dockery is used to wearing a corset.

But its unlikely we'll see the eldest Crawley daughter wearing this get-up in the hallowed halls of Downton Abbey any time soon.

The actress, 30, looked like she was about to spill out of her corset in a Gothic-themed shoot for the new issue of LOVE magazine.

Not so plain now: Laura Carmichael, who plays Lady Edith, wears a striking gown as she reclines on a sofa

In the accompanying interview, she said had become very fond of Lady Mary over the past two series and the upcoming third.

She told the mag: 'Like all characters that you play you feel very protective of them. I’m very fond of Lady Mary. I care about her very much. Of course I want her to find happiness.

‘The tension between Edith and Mary I don’t really get because my sisters were not vicious to each other like they’ve been. But it was always really fun to play.'

Ethereal : Jessica Brown Findlay looks a fairy bride in the Gothic shoot

Michelle joined her on-screen sisters Jessica Brown Findlay and Laura Carmichael – who play Sybil, and Edith in the ITV drama – underwent the gothic-inspired transformation for a photo shoot with fashion bible LOVE.

Styled by the magazine’s editor-in-chief Katie Grand, it sees Lady Sybil don a plunging corset, with flowers in her messy hair.

In real life she lives with her architect boyfriend and on-screen she finally got her man after Matthew Crawley proposed in the snow at Christmas. But that's not to say that Michelle Dockery doesn't appreciate a bit of arm candy from time to time - and with that line-up, it's hardly surprising.

The Downton Abbey star, 30, was a guest at the Burberry Prorsum catwalk show as part of Milan's Men's Fashion Week and was surrounded by handsome young rising British stars.

What's the 'Downton Abbey' cast up to? Posted by Moira Macdonald May 17, 2012 at 11:01 AM (SEATTLE TIMES)

I don't know about you, but this having-to-wait-almost-a-year-for-more-'Downton-Abbey' thing is getting me down. I need a Dowager Countess in my life, not to mention gloves, hats, butlers, upstairs/downstairs romance, and mail at the breakfast table. Nonetheless, I shall wait, as decorously as possible, but in the meantime I'm keeping an eye on that cast. What are they up to?

-- Dan Stevens, who plays swoony good fellow Matthew Crawley, will co-star opposite Freida Pinto in "The Catastrophist," a love story set in the '60s Congo. He's also filmed "Summer in February," a love story co-starring Emily Browning and set in the "Downton" prewar time period, and will star on Broadway this fall in "The Heiress," based on the Henry James novel, alongside Jessica Chastain and David Strathairn.

-- Michelle Dockery, who plays that uppity minx Lady Mary, will appear in this fall's star-studded new film version of "Anna Karenina," as Princess Myagkaya. She'll also sing on an album, to be released later this year, alongside co-star Elizabeth McGovern.

Downton to designer: Michelle Dockery is a vision in black and gold as she leads the best of British at the New York Met Ball By GEORGINA LITTLEJOHN (DAILY MAIL)

It was one of the surprise smash-hit imports that took America by storm and brought the Crawley family into their hearts.

So it was only fitting that one of the Downton Abbey ladies should be present at one of the US's biggest nights on the showbiz calendar.

And having a lead role on a show that has been praised for its detailed costume design, Michelle Dockery didn't let the side down as she arrived at last night's Met Gala in New York in a stunning black and gold dress.

Her hair was swept and tied back and her drop gold earring completed the chic and elegant look which would have made Lady Mary proud.

She was joined by Laura Carmichael, 26, who plays her younger sister Lady Edith in the show and looked very classy in her dark blue dress by Emilia Wickstead.

Titanic series will be the next Downton Abbey, says Sophie Winkleman (THE TELEGRAPH)

By Donna Bowater
7:39PM GMT 16 Mar 2012

A miniseries about the Titanic will capture the imagination of viewers in the same way as Downton Abbey, according to actress Sophie Winkleman.

The 31-year-old stars in the four-part series written by Julian Fellowes, the man behind the successful ITV show, and has predicted fans will enjoy the class drama just as much.

Miss Winkleman, who is married to Freddie Windsor, the son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, said she loved Downton Abbey. "I think I am in love with Lady Mary," she told a Sunday newspaper magazine. "Rather deeply, in fact. Julian writes all his characters so thoughtfully."

"With Titanic you have all the first-class passengers interwoven with wonderful stories about the maids and the engineers, the people downstairs in the galleys. "People are as obsessed with Downton's valet Bates and housemaid Anna as they are with Lady Mary and Matthew. Julian has absolutely captured that scope with Titanic."

Laura Carmichael reckons there will be more heartache in store for Lady Edith

Downton Abbey's Laura Carmichael fears her character Lady Edith will be always the bridsemaid and never the bride.

While her sisters Lady Mary and Lady Sybil have their choice of men, Lady Edith has endured a series of heartbreaks. Speculating on what might be in store for her character in the third series, set in the roaring twenties, Laura joked she may take up flying after learning to drive a car.

Laura said: "Um, more heartache, who knows... the possibility of finding love - I don't know. No doubt, always the bridesmaid!"

She added: "We were talking about planes and trains. So maybe I'll take up flying now that I can drive."

Edith's older sister Mary Crawley is engaged to newspaper magnate Sir Richard Carlisle but is in love with Matthew Crawley, whose proposal she previously turned down.

Viewers are gripped as to whether Mary and Matthew will admit their love in the forthcoming Christmas special.
