Tom Hiddleston’s ‘Only Lovers Left Alive’ filming moves to Germany by CHRISTINE M on JULY 24, 2012 (ON LOCATION VACATIONS)
Late last week it was reported that filming had already begun in Germany, taking place in Hamburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Cologne. German news outlets also say that sets were “sealed off” in part because of writer/director Jim Jarmusch’s “reclusive” nature.
Jarmusch’s vampire film is slated for release in 2013 and co-stars Tilda Swinton, Mia Wasikowska, and Anton Yelchin.. Filming is set to move to Morocco and New York City in the coming weeks.
Here’s what do know, the film is set in Detroit and Tangiers and will be filmed in Michigan, Western Germany, and Morocco this summer. Tom Hiddleston, Anton Yelchin, Mia Wasikowska, John Hurt, and Tilda Swinton will star in Only Lovers which, according to various industry sources, isn’t't expected to begin shooting until mid-July.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the movie’s director, Jim Jarmusch, was spotted in Detroit yesterday where he has been “looking at southeast Michigan locations.” They also note that filming will only last “a week or two” in Michigan, and that the film has not yet been approved for the state’s tax incentive.

Emily Blunt: Jason Segel And Emily Blunt Talk Resentment And Passive-Aggressive Facial Hair In The Five-Year Engagement by Eric Eisenberg (CINEMA BLEND)
There’s an interesting trick that Jason Segel and Emily Blunt pull off in their new comedy, The Five-Year Engagement. When the characters decide to leave their San Francisco home and move to Ann Arbor, Michigan, Segel’s character, Tom, is miserable, but Blunt’s character, Violet, sees all of her dreams start to come true.
And yet, at no point in the film does the audience hate Violet for what is happening to her fiancĂ©e. But how exactly do they pull that trick off? I recently had the chance to participate in a roundtable interview with Segel and Blunt to talk about their newest project. Check out the conversation below in which they speak on not only the development of Violet’s character, but getting relationships right, listening to Van Morrison, and passive-aggressive facial hair.

Judi Dench speaks out on behalf of Michigan Shakespeare Festival (MICHIGAN LIVE)
Jackson, MI – One of Britain’s most accomplished thespians is lending her support to the Michigan
Shakespeare Festival.
Dame Judi Dench, a multiple Oscar and Tony winner, spoke out in support of the Jackson-based Shakespeare Festival through a statement released by the festival on Friday. “I’m delighted to help spread the word any way I can,” said Dench. “Especially now, when arts institutions are facing so much peril.” New Michigan Shakespeare Festival Managing Director Bart Williams got to know Dench while working in England. He remains close with Dench’s daughter Finty Williams.
In recent conversations, Bart Williams has talked to Dench about the struggles many arts and theater organizations are experiencing during tough economic times. “In Britain, we have to be ever vigilant against arts funding cuts,” Dench added. “It depresses me that the situation in America is even more dire. There is much less funding available, and so many more people to be reached. “If my support can in any way help extend the reach of the Michigan Shakespeare Festival, I offer it gladly.”
Bart Williams said the Shakespeare Festival’s Shakespeare high school tour continues to grow, as it has expanded from southeastern Michigan to include West Michigan and parts of northern Indiana and Ohio. However, the tour remains on a tight budget, he added.
