Benedict Cumberbatch has put an end to rumours that he has a part in Star Wars Episode 7.
The actor has said that an appearance from him in JJ Abrams’ blockbuster ‘won’t happen’ despite wanting a part in it.
Australian entertainment site The Iris, who was live tweeting Benedict’s Q&A at OzComicCon, reports him as saying: ‘I would’ve liked a part in JJ’s new Star Wars but it won’t happen sadly.’
He also dismissed the chance of being involved with another hugely popular sci-fi series, Doctor Who.
‘I’m never gonna play The Doctor and nothing to do with the Whoniverse’ he revealed.
You can almost hear the dreams of thousands of Whovians shattering into tiny pieces.

Are Benedict Cumberbatch & Gary Oldman Locked In For STAR WARS: EPISODE VII?
COMIC BOOK MOVIE.COM
By Mark "RorMachine" Cassidy - 2/24/2014

At this stage I know we're all fed up with constant rumors and would like some solid news - but, MarketSaw have been on the ball when it comes to Star Wars related scoops in the past, so their latest casting updates might be worth paying attention to..
MarketSaw (who actually broke the news that Lucasfilm had plans for the new Star Wars trilogy in the first place) are reporting on some casting updates for the J.J. Abrams directed flick, as well as providing some possible plot information. According to them not only are Ford, Hamill and Fisher locked in, but Billy Dee Williams (Lando), Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine) Anthony Daniels (C3PO) and Warwick Davies (Wicket) too. As for the new faces, they reckon that long rumored cast addition Benedict Cumberbatch is in, and so is Gary Oldman - who recently confirmed that he'd had some "conversations", but never really indicated if he would take them up on the offer or not. Here's the most interesting part:
"I believe Cumberbatch and Oldman were pursued for the same role. I don't know how that will work out with the script changes, but I'm told they are both involved."

Benedict Cumberbatch Stunned By Harrison Ford Praise
CONTACT MUSIC
October 12, 2013
October 12, 2013

Actor Benedict Cumberbatch had "a moment" while taping a recent episode of a British chat show when his hero Harrison Ford told him he was a big fan.
The two actors were sitting side by side on The Graham Norton Show when Ford turned to the Star Trek: Into Darkness star and handed him a huge chunk of praise.
The Star Wars icon said, "I didn't get a chance to say what a big fan I am of yours... The Sherlock Holmes thing is amazing."
A visibly stunned Cumberbatch responded, "Thank you very much. Wow, that's a bit of a moment. Thank you very much."
The Sherlock star then stood up and quipped, "I can retire now, I'm going."

Hiddlestoners, Potterheads and the Cumbercollective: Film's most dedicated fandoms

Yahoo Movies
By Cat Collins | Yahoo UK Movies Features – 6 hours ago
While we admire their dedication, sometimes hardcore fans can be a little overwhelming.
For example, over 93,000 Batman fans who feel Ben Affleck is the wrong man to play Bruce Wayne have signed a Change.org petition to remove him from the role.
And Tom Hiddleston has said he's "flattered and amazed" by a group of Hiddlestoners who have decided he deserves his own solo superhero movie.
Saddened that Hiddleston won't appear in Joss Whedon's Avengers follow-up, and clearly concerned that we might never see Loki again, the fans have collected over 22,000 signatures petitioning Marvel for the God of Mischief to star in his own story on the big screen, steadily working toward their goal of 30,000.
But are Hiddlestoners the most dedicated fan base of them all? Let's see...
Hiddlestoners
Object of affection:
Tom Hiddleston
What's it all about?
Dedicated and determined, Tom Hiddleston obsessives are pretty hardcore in their love for the actor. After piquing their interest in Marvel's 2011 superhero epic, Thor, Hiddleston further seduced his legion of fans when he reprised the role of Loki in Joss Whedon's wildly successful team-up, Avengers Assemble.
But more than the standard group of swooning teenagers, Loki's Army have used their force for more than simply penning fanfic and stalking Hiddles on Twitter. One gang, Hiddlestoners Have Hearts, have even raised thousands of pounds for UNICEF in his name.
Don't say:
"Phwoar! That Thor's a bit of alright, isn't he?"
Do say:
"Oh my God, he's so adorable!"

Cumberbatch disapproves of Cumberbitches...
it's a revolution, I suppose·
The Cumbercollective
Object of affection:
Benedict Cumberbatch
What's it all about?
Formerly known as Cumberbitches or Cumberbabes, before Benedict himself poured disapproving scorn on the offensive noun, the lusty Cumbercollective have but one simple goal in mind: To meet Benedict Cumberbatch and make him fall in love with them.
It's a dream many can understand, albeit one the man himself seems to be a bit embarrassed by, but for most of them a dream it will remain. Luckily for them, he ain't going nowhere.
Don't say:
"You know what? I think Ricardo Montalban was a better Khan."
Do say:
"The Purple Shirt of Sex. That is all."

Benedict Cumberbatch rules Toronto fest

Andrea Mandell, USA TODAY
September 9, 2013
TORONTO — It's unquestionable that Benedict Cumberbatch is the man of the moment at the International Film Festival. Not that it doesn't come with a price.
"It's great. I wish I could enjoy the moment a bit more, (but) that's always the thing, isn't it?" says Cumberbatch, ensconced in a hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton. It's a gorgeous fall day outside, but with three prestigious movies to promote (Julian Assange biopic The Fifth Estate, the Steve McQueen-directed slavery film Twelve Years a Slave and August: Osage County) the closest he's getting to the great outdoors is by squinting.
"I can see it through the crack in the door," says the star, who may tie Oprah for how many interviews a human is capable of participating in (on Saturday alone he topped out at 64).
Cumberbatch grins, shrugs. "High-class problems."
And no matter that his fans ("Cumberladies," as he politely rephrases the more crass term) are clamoring for him on the sidewalks. "I still get star-struck," he says. "Whether it's Sandra Bullock or Nicole Kidman. I met Brad (Pitt) backstage at Twelve Years a Slave two nights ago. I really liked meeting him."

'HOBBIT' STAR RICHARD ARMITAGE RECALLS HIS TIME ON 'STAR WARS: PHANTOM MENACE' SET (and Keira Knightley too)

HOLLYWOOD
By: Matt Patches
December 16, 2012
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is arguably the most important movie of Richard Armitage's career, exposing the actor known from British television like Robin Hood and MI-5 to a global audience for the first time. Surprisingly, though, it's not his biggest movie to date.
That honor goes to another prequel: the infamous Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. As a budding actor, Armitage attended London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art while playing bit parts at the Royal Shakespeare Company. Like any actor looking to break out, Armitage was taking any film and television role that crossed his path.
Thus, he became "Bravo Fighter Pilot" in George Lucas' much-maligned sci-fi epic. The actor fondly remembers his brief time working on Star Wars, an experience that quickly exposed him as a Hollywood newbie. "Walking onto that set… I remember thinking, 'Why didn't they finish building the rest of the set?" Armitage tells Hollywood.com. "'Are they behind? They must be out of money.'"
Armitage is one of many famous faces who were still obscure to mainstream audiences back when The Phantom Menace hit screens back in 1999. Sharp eyes can catch a young Keira Knightley, a spot-on Natalie Portman lookalike, appearing as Padme's handmaiden Sabé. Lost in Translation and Somewhere director Sofia Coppola also appears as part of the Padme posse, while The Wire star Dominic West battles droids as one of the Palace Guards. Say what you will about the prequels, but they proved a breeding ground for young talent.

Benedict Cumberbatch 'Episode VII' Rumor Debunked By Reps
The Huffington Post | By Christopher Rosen
Posted: 09/03/2013 3:41 pm EDT | Updated: 09/03/2013 3:43 pm EDT
On Monday, The Force was strong with a rumor that Benedict Cumberbatch could play a key role in "Star Wars: Episode VII." On Tuesday, the actor's representatives batted down that notion in a statement to the New York Daily News.
“There is no truth to the rumour (sic) Benedict has been cast in 'Star Wars,'" a spokesperson for Cumberbatch told the New York tabloid. "I think the rumours (sic) are circling because J.J. [Abrams] and Benedict have just recently had a wonderful time working together on 'Star Trek.'"

The website Film Chronicles was first to report that Cumberbatch might star in "Episode VII," but the idea that Abrams would cast Cumberbatch in the film had been circulating around the internet for the better part of the last week. In fact, despite protestations from some about giving platform to the Cumberbatch story, many film writers and reporters have openly commented on the rumor via Twitter after it broke on Monday afternoon:

Benedict Cumberbatch Rumored For Star Wars Episode VII

CINEMA BLEND
Author: Kelly West | published: 2013-09-02 09:03:11
Star Wars fans have been eagerly awaiting more concrete news about the anticipated Episode VII. While plenty of rumors have been circulating, including one involving a certain Sherlock star possibly joining the cast, full confirmations have been slim so far. The latest casting rumor for the project is a report that Benedict Cumberbatch's casting confirmation is going to happen at some point in the near future.
Via BleedingCool.com, TheFilmChronicles reports that the expected big casting announcement will be confirmation that Cumberbatch is signing on for the film. No specifics on who he might be playing were mentioned, though the site says casting calls suggests there might be a few early twentysomthings brought in to play offspring of Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker. If they're aiming for teens or early twenty somethings for those roles, that rules out Cumberbatch, who's 37. But perhaps he's related to some of the lead characters in another way. Or maybe he's a completely new creation. A hero or a villain? Well, we know he's capable of both.
While we still have to wait for actual confirmation of this news, Bleeding Cool points out that Cumberbatch did recently drop out of Guillermo Del Toro's Crimson Peak, though the reason given for that at the time was said to not be due to involvement in another project, which may have been the case at the time. The site also points out the timing of this news, as it comes a week ahead of the DVD/Blu-ray release of Star Trek Into Darkness, another beloved sci-fi franchise, and the film that ties Cumberbatch to Star Wars: Episode VII director JJ Abrams.

JUDE LAW, EWAN MCGREGOR LINKED TO CUMBRIAN MAN'S SUB RESCUE FILM

TIMES AND STAR
September 1, 2013
Former Royal Navy submariner Roger Chapman was aboard Pisces III, a 6ft deep-sea submersible which was trapped on the Atlantic Shelf for three days from August 29, 1973.
Mr Chapman, who was 28 at the time, was working on a contract to bury transoceanic telephone cables.
He was trapped alongside father-of-four Roger Mallinson 1,575ft beneath the waves 150-miles off the coast of Ireland before an 84-hour international rescue operation brought them back above the surface, as concerns mounted that their oxygen supplies would run out.Mr Chapman, 68, has been in talks with Giant Films regarding the translation of his story to the cinema screen and A-listers Ewan McGregor and Jude Law are among the stars interested in recreating the story for the movie version.
He said: “It’s not my call but if Ewan McGregor is interested and wanted to go for playing me it would be nice. I think that this company want to stick to the story.”
After being rescued the pair were greeted by hundreds of people and Mr Chapman said he was “euphoric” on release.

Episode VII Rumor Says Ewan McGregor Will Play Obi-Wan Again

CINEMA BLEND
Author: Katey Rich | published: 2013-08-16 12:24:46
If you want to start your own Star Wars rumor, now is the time. With nothing officially confirmed about the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII beyond the director and writer, there's a limitless universe full of story options, and any rumor can be treated as fact because, hey, who knows what might happen. And fresh off some specious talk that Emperor Palpatine might appear in Episode VII comes a new rumor of a familiar face who might bring back The Force.
So what hard proof do we have? None. And it's been like that for every Star Wars rumor we've fielded since the project was announced last fall, from the Ryan Gosling casting news to talk of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill reprising their roles. It's all talk, as notoriously secretive director J.J. Abrams preps the project to shoot in England early next year and keeps the lid on his "mystery box" to the point that there were booing fans at Disney's D23 convention last weekend. Ewan McGregor's potential return isn't exactly the kind of news fans have been salivating for all these years… but hey, it would be a start. At this point if Abrams and company would even confirm a title it would be progress.

Ewan McGregor Wears Kilt to Receive Order of British Empire, Would Be "Up for" Role in Porno (E!) by Rebecca Macatee

Ewan McGregor was honored Friday at Buckingham Palace with an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for his contributions to film and charity.
A place on Queen Elizabeth II's honors list is very highbrow, so the 42-year-old Star Wars hunk telling reporters he'd be up for a role in Porno seemed a bit odd. But that doesn't mean quite what you think…
McGregor starred in 1996's Trainspotting, the Danny Boyle-helmed film based on Irvine Welsh's novel of the same name. Boyle has recently spoken about making a sequel to the famed flick, based on Irvine's book Porno, and McGregor is interested, to say the least.Clearly, though, McGregor values the films—and traditions—of his past. The Scottish actor wore a red-and-green-tartan kilt, paired with knee socks and a tie and jacket.
"I didn't have to think about it, that was always what I was going to wear," he said. "If you don't wear your kilt here, I don't know where you are going to wear it."

Ew- an! McGregor returns to red hair as he arrives back in London... but still has prominent moustache and soul patch By FAY STRANG (DAILY MAIL)

He left fans scratching their chins when he stepped out last month with jet black hair and some rather impressive facial hair.
And while the look may not have grown on many it seems Ewan McGregor is pretty happy with one aspect of his new appearance – his moustache and soul patch.
The 42-year-old was spotted arriving in the UK on Saturday still sporting his new additions but with a twist as the dark dye was gone and his natural red was back in its rightful place.
The look came after he expressed interest in reprising his role for a Trainspotting sequel based on the novel Porno.
Though it seemed fitting for the sequel about friends trying to make money via the pornography business, the look was for a film he just completed filming in Mexico - Jane Got A Gun.
Ahead of returning to the UK the actor took to Twitter to discuss shooting. He wrote: 'Last night shooting on #janegotagun Thanks New Mexico for the landscape, sunsets
Also going home with a new O'Farrell's hat ;)

Liam Neeson On 'Taken 3:' 'Just Bad Parenting' By Scott Harris | Feb 28, 2013 | 11:11 AM (NEXT MOVIE)
Last fall, Liam Neeson returned to cinemas with "Taken 2" and fans flocked to the theaters to find out one thing: Exactly how on Earth did Neeson's badass agent Bryan Mills manage to let his daughter get kidnapped a second time? Seriously, what happened to those special skills of his?
Well, it looks like Neeson himself was thinking the same thing, because in an interview with a Dublin radio station, he revealed that there won't be a "Taken 3" for the simple reason that it would be really dumb.
That's telling it like it is, Liam!
"I don’t think there’ll be a 'Taken 3.' She can’t get taken again," Neeson told the folks at 98fm. "That’s just bad parenting."
