HELEN MIRREN

Helen Mirren: My best body title was "rigged"!

(CBS News) For more than four decades, Helen Mirren has been one of Hollywood's most versatile and critically-acclaimed actresses.

Now, she's been named as havin gthe best body, based on a poll by L.A. Fitness.

So what does the Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe winner say about her latest accolade?

"The voting was rigged in some way or other. I want to get to the bottom of it!" she kidded.

"Early Show" co-anchor Erica Hill said, "Really? I would embrace it if I were you. You beat out J. Lo."

Mirren joked, referring to the contested 2000 presidential election results in Florida, "I think it has something to do with hanging chads. There was a little hanging chad issue going on there somehow."

Hill said, "Kind of fun for you to have that. You're a gorgeous woman, so why not?"

Mirren replied, "(It's) amazing and incredibly flattering. My husband is working with J. Lo at the moment in his latest movie, and he was thrilled because the pictures of me and J. Lo both on the front page of a newspaper, and he's, 'Oh, my two leading ladies.'"

So, have she and J. Lo talked about the honor at all?

"Not yet," Mirren said. "I'm sure we will, but it's iniquitous, she's a thousand times more beautiful than I am. It's just kindness, the kindness of strangers."

Mirren's newest film is "The Debt." She plays a retired Israeli Mossad agent.

Mirren said she was drawn to the story because of the story, which involves a decision her character made 30 years before the film takes place and the consequences of that decision in her character's life.

Mirren said, "It was based on an Israeli film originally, which was a wonderful film. It's just, you know, it's a rare thing nowadays in movies, strangely, a really good story, and this is a fantastic story. It just, you know, it's complex, but at the same time, it's very visceral, you really follow it through, it's a thriller. So I love the combination of both things, and you know, any character that's kind of proactive is great to for me, any retired agent come and knock on my door please."

Hill remarked, "It's kind of hard to find a story or film that's good, a good story. It also used to be very difficult to find a really good meaty part for a woman, especially a woman later on in her career. That's changed a lot."

Mirren replied, "You mean an old woman?"

Hill said, "No, not at all."

Mirren continued, "No, it has changed. It definitely there's been an absolute sea change, I think, in the last 10 years."

Hill asked where the change originated.

"It came from exactly where I always said it would come from, which is from the world outside of the world of drama, from the world of politics," Mirren said. "It's become absolutely acceptable that the next president of the United States may be a woman. It was acceptable even, you know, five years ago. Ten years ago, that was not, that was just not on the landscape at all. So you know, I think there's been a major change in people's attitudes. I think a whole generation, two, three generations of women have, you know, come up through the ranks, through the ranks of their particular professions, be it, you know, media, be it politics, be it medical, law. Now, we have all of those women, they're now in their 50s and their 60s and they are incredibly powerful in the world. People are looking at that, going, 'Oh, I see, yes, women, you know, count, women are powerful, women have a voice,' and as soon as you get that, it's reflected in the world of drama."

"The Debt" opens nationwide today.
