HUGH GRANT, COLIN FIRTH

Firth and Grant make top 50s poll

Colin Firth and Hugh Grant have been named among the most inspirational figures in their 50s.

The pair - who came to blows in movie hit Bridget Jones's Diary - were ranked in second and third places for the list of leading fiftysomethings.

Top place went to Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the worldwide web, according to website High50.com.

Firth has enjoyed an increased profile in recent months thanks to his best actor Oscar win for The King's Speech while Grant has been in the spotlight for his efforts against phone hacking.

Designer turned film-maker Tom Ford is fourth in the list while musician Nick Cave is next in the all-male top five.

Sex And The City actress Kim Cattrall and Oscar-winner Tilda Swinton also made the top 10.

The website - aimed at a youthful 50-plus age group - drew up a shortlist, then users voted.

Editor Tim Willis said: "Being 50 isn't about resting on your laurels, in our eyes.

"It's about moving forward, trying something new, adding to your talents and knowledge base."
