'Man of Steel' Heading Up North For A Few Months

'Man of Steel' Heading Up North For A Few MonthsThe next Superman film, 'Man of Steel' finished up shooting in the small town of Plano, Illinois not too long ago. The town was standing in for Clark Kent's (Henry Cavill) hometown of Smallville. Production has since moved to the the large city of Chicago, which is standing in for Metropolis.

According to Canadian news provider, Global News, the production -- codenamed 'Autumn Frost' -- will be heading to the Vancouver, British Columbia area and Ucluelet, which is on the west coast of Vancouver Island. At one point, the town will stand in for an "Alaskan fishing village." Excerpts from the letter written by the locations manager for production company Third Act Productions Inc., Rino Pace to the Ucluelet council reads:

"Autumn Frost will film in the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island from early September through to the end of January 2012. We have been preparing the film since early spring, which includes building 'sets' in the various 'stages' in and around the Vancouver area..."

That's a long time to be filming compared to the stays that the production has had in Illinois. If it's a just a bunch of stages and places like that, don't expect set photos to be pouring out like they have been. Appreciate black-suit Zod (Michael Shannon) in all his glory, because you might not be seeing him for a long time.

In addition to Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, and Michael Shannon as fellow Kryptonian, General Zod, the cast of the film includes Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Antje Traue as Faora, and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White.

Taking much more time than a speeding bullet, director Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel' has a release date of June 14, 2013.
