Emily Watson thinks she is only known for her ''emotional roles'' and consequently only gets offered them.
Emily Watson believes she is "known" for her emotional roles.
The 'Oranges and Sunshine' actress - who will soon be seen in heavy-hitting movies 'War Horse' and 'Anna Karenina' - thinks she is like a baker, in that people know her for doing one thing and only offer her those parts.
She said: "Why am I drawn to doing emotional extremes? I think it's really because, once you have a reputation for doing something, people come to you, just like when people go to the bread shop for bread.
"That's what I'm known for, and people want me for it. They want me to do it. It's how I earn my living."
She admits she was shocked when she read the part she had been offered in 'Oranges and Sunshine' - about the plight of British children who were sent to Australia up until the late 1960s.
She added: "Well, I read the script, and I thought, 'My God!' I was so shocked when I read it because, while I consider myself a fairly educated British citizen, I had no idea of any of this."
