Colin Firth, Emily Blunt begin filming in Fairmont

FAIRMONT - This sleepy Robeson County town was awakened today by the hustle and bustle of a production crew filming the upcoming movie "Arthur Newman, Golf Pro.''

Academy Award winner Colin Firth and Golden Globe winner Emily Blunt are starring in the film about a man who fakes his death and assumes a new identity as Arthur Newman.

A small crowd of locals gathered near the production site in front of the Hector McLean Public Library on South Main Street downtown to catch a glimpse of the film stars in action.

The town also is conducting its municipal elections at the same location today, but the voter and spectator turnout was minimal for the first round of filming, which started around 9 a.m.
Production is expected to continue for most of the day.
