Henry Cavill has said that he had to train eight hours a day for Immortals.

The former Tudors star described his exercise regime for the Greek adventure movie, revealing that he had to work out every day for six months prior to shooting.

"I was up at four in the morning, doing a couple of hours there and then a day's work," Cavill told Access Hollywood. "But as soon as I got off The Tudors, then we could do the full training.

"It went up to about eight hours a day by the time it was February."

Cavill, who will play Superman in the upcoming movie Man of Steel, also revealed that he received "hundreds of bruises and cuts" while shooting Immortals.

He went on to insist that his Superman physique is even more impressive, describing it as "an eight pack".

Cavill's Immortals co-star Freida Pinto has joked that she agreed to star in the film for the half-dressed men, saying that she understands that her male cast members will be objectified.

Immortals opens in US and UK cinemas on November 11.
