COUNTDOWN TO DOWNTON ABBEY 3Friday June 15,2012 By Sanchez Manning (EXPRESS CO.)
FORGET the Olympics...the nation is counting down the days until the next series of Downton Abbey.
The third series of the ITV1 period drama is due to hit the screens in September – and anticipation is already growing.
Yesterday some of the Downton stars joined the hit show’s creator Julian Fellowes at a breast cancer fund-raising event.
The 62-year-old writer and cast members met at the Chelsea Physic Garden in London. Among them were Joanne Froggatt, 31, who plays dowdy maid Anna, and Brendan Coyle, 48, who has attained heart-throb status as her butler partner John Bates.
David Robb, 64, better known as Downton’s Dr Clarkson, was there too along with actress Sophie McShera, 27, who swapped housemaid Daisy’s working clothes for a racy red-and-black animal print dress.
Lord Fellowes has recently been putting the finishing touches to the last episode of the latest series. He revealed that the coming season will see the show’s characters adjusting to life after the First World War.
