One of the very best perks for me of being a blogger in Los Angeles is the twice-yearly invitation to the PBS presentations at the Television Critics Association Press Tour. It’s really smart people getting together to talk about thoughtful important programming. They featured PBS News Coverage of the 2012 presidential election, the Drug War in Mexico, the new PBSKids show based on Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. And of course there was Downton Abbey.
Downton Abbey is my favorite show on television. Ever. It’s a period drama. It’s a soap opera. The people are beautiful and the clothes are even more beautiful. Everything about it is spectacular.
My unabashed love for the show led me to take this picture of me and Mr. Bates (I know that his name is actually Brendan Coyle). I also know that if I ever want to get another job as a journalist this photo will come back to haunt me, but I couldn’t help it.
