The athletes are ready. Almost. The stadia are built. Well, nearly. The security guards are trained. Ish. But what about “future generations of future people”? Whither “sustainability, posterity and legacy”? Yes, with mere days before the opening ceremony – both in real-life and on-screen – it was time for the farewell episode of Olympic-organising mockumentary Twenty Twelve (BBC Two).

As the Deliverance Team prepared to hand over to the Live Team, last-minute “loose ends” needed tying up. Or more accurately, last-minute panics needed fudging and bucks needed passing. Danny Boyle’s opening ceremony fireworks were going to trigger the Army’s ground-to-air missiles and start World War Three over east London. Eco-friendly charging stations for the official Olympic electric cars worked so slowly, the entire fleet would soon be stationary. And the special “Big Bong” peal of church bells, supposed to ring out gloriously nationwide, had attracted an embarrassingly low number of entries. How many? Not loads, actually. How many exactly? Er, two. Bummer.
