Downton Abbey Flying The Flag For Britain In 2012 Emmy Nominations 19 July 2012 15:36 (CONTACT MUSIC)
The producers of Downton Abbey will be celebrating today, with the announcement of this year's Emmy awards nominations. The British costume drama has emerged with no fewer than 16 nominations, making it one of the front runners for the September 2012 awards ceremony. It was beaten only by Mad Men and American Horror Story, which both had 17 nominations each. It's a pretty impressive achievement for a UK import, given the home-grown talent against which it was fighting for recognition.
