Elizabeth McGovern bows down to Shirley McLaine (HELLO MAGAZINE)
Downton Abbey's Elizabeth McGovern gave her new on-screen mother Shirley MacLaine the royal treatment by bowing at her feet as the cast gathered in LA.
Screen veteran Shirley joined Elizabeth and other members of the cast including Hugh Bonneville, Brendan Coyle and Joanne Froggatt as they promoted the forthcoming third series of the show.
Shirley's character as Lady Grantham's mother is reportedly about to divide loyalties and clash with the Dowager Countess, played by Dame Maggie Smith.
The 78-year-old actress, known for her roles in The Trouble With Harry and Steel Magnolias joins the show as American Martha Levinson and meets Violet, the Dowager Countess in what insiders have dubbed a 'battle of the matriarchs'.
