The Rolling Stones sing with ....Carrie Underwood (BILLBOARD) By Karen Bliss

“I just sang with the ‪@RollingStones!” Carrie Underwood tweeted last night following her appearance with the band on “It’s Only Rock ‘N Roll” at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre.

“Holy cow! I walked off stage and said, "What just happened?!" Still can't believe it! :)”

The American country star now joins Stones guest alumni Dave Grohl, Katy Perry, Tom Waits, Keith Urban, Gwen Stefani so far on the band’s 50 & Counting North American tour. Last year, for their spot datesin London, New York and New Jersey, Eric Clapton, Lady Gaga and Bruce Springsteen all hopped on stage with the legendary rock band.

Underwood’s husband, Nashville Predators hockey player Mike Fisher, is from Peterborough, Ontario, just 90 minutes drive from Toronto; his family have a cottage nearby. The couple took in a Toronto Bluejays game the day before (Fisher’s uncle was a former chaplain to the baseball team) and then she got down to work.

Christopher Plummer: Ready for his Oscar! (IONSTRATFORD)

All Stratford eyes should be on the Academy Awards Sunday night.

82-year-old Christopher Plummer is up for his second Oscar for Beginners, in which he plays an elderly widower who comes out of the closet and embraces his homosexuality. Despite illness, he lives life to the fullest and sets an example for his son, portrayed by Ewan McGregor.

Iconic Canadian actor Christopher Plummer has been the toast of the film awards season, winning trophy after trophy for his impish, yet touching performance in the melancholy comedy-drama Beginners, directed by Mike Mills. T

The Toronto-born performer, who has in recent years kept busy with roles both on stage (Barrymore, Stratford’s Caesar and Cleopatra and The Tempest) and screen (Beginners, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,The Last Station), hasn’t let being an octogenarian hamper his career.
