Japanese writer-director Ryūhei Kitamura (The Midnight Meat Train) returns with his latest horror-thriller this year, No One Lives, which will be heading to TIFF as part of the Midnight Madness section in just a few weeks’ time.

Luke Evans (Immortals, the upcoming The Hobbit) leads the cast, starring alongside Adelaide Clemens (the upcoming Silent Hill: Revelation 3D), Derek Magyar (Train), Lindsey Shaw (10 Things I Hate About You), Beau Knapp (Super 8), America Olivo (Neighbor), and Lee Tergesen (Monster).

A few images from the film have surfaced online already, and now still photographer Patti Perret has debuted fourteen new images on her website.

Luke Evans | 'No One Lives' | Dark Horizons

'The Notable Films of 2012: Volume Six' by Garth Franklin

No One Lives
Opens: 2012
Cast: Luke Evans, Adelaide Clemens, Lee Tergesen, Derek Magyar, Beau Knapp
Director: Ryuhei Kitamura

Analysis: While much fuss has been made about the rise of Henry Cavill this past year, even more interesting has been the ascendancy of his fellow "Immortals" cohort and my personal pin-up man of 2011 - Luke Evans. The 32-year-old Welshman was a stage actor throughout his twenties, but hasn't really been out of work for the last three years with roles in no less than twelve films including "The Hobbit" next year.

This one however is something of a real test of both his abilities and box-office potential - not a supporting part in a familiar franchise but a leading man, and more importantly a quite dark anti-hero character, front and center in an original property from the relatively small WWE Studios.

The story follows a gang of ruthless highway killers who kidnap a wealthy couple traveling cross country. They soon discover that things aren't what they seem - the man they've taken (Evans) turns out to be far more lethal than any of them.

Filmmaker Ryuhei Kitamura has gotten a lot of love for the under seen and deliciously insane Clive Barker adaptation "Midnight Meat Train" so many are keen on check out whether his next Hollywood effort will be just as out there. Here's hoping.

First Look: Luke Evans creeps up in first still image from horror “No One Lives”

Up and Comers

By Linda Ge | Tags: , , , , , ,

British up and coming actor Luke Evans goes for a midnight swim and maybe a murder or two in our first look at “No One Lives”, sort of a “The Strangers” / “Straw Dogs” / “Last House on the Left” hybrid wherein a gang of ruthless killers take a wealthy roadtripping couple hostage in the middle of nowhere to torture , only to have the tables turned on them.
“No One Lives” is director Ryuhei Kitamura’s follow-up to cult horror classic “Midnight Meat Train” and Evans co-stars with fellow up and comers Adelaide Clemens, Laura Ramsay, Beau Knapp and Derek Magyar. There’s no word on who Evans plays, but considering his character’s name is Driver, we can presume he’s the vengeance-seeking male half of the kidnapped duo.
Shock ‘Til You Drop has the first ever image from the indie horror – seen below – that will be released sometime in 2012.
