DAVID OAKES
Another little tale about my Twitter adventures and why I love this application so much. Well not only this application, but Facebook as well. My ‘history’ with David Oakes began on Facebook. This was prior to the premiere of The Pillars of The Earth (TPOTE) last August.
I had heard from many sources and concluded on my own, after reading AND watching interviews, that David Oakes was an extremely nice man. From all appearances he is very down to earth, normal, fun guy, not to mention gorgeous!
For some reason I decided to send him a message asking him about this picture I had seen in his profile on Facebook. After I sent it, I thought, he’s going to think I’m a stalker person and I’m never going to hear back from him, oh well, it was done.
The next morning when I went to log into my Facebook I saw I had a message and my jaw almost hit the floor. I thought, no way! I clicked immediately to see who had sent me a message and there it was! An answer from David himself!! I almost fell out of my chair, who does this?
I remember staring at my screen incredulously and reading his message over and over, just to ensure I wasn’t dreaming. He was so sweet, wrote to me a ‘mini’ letter, very polite and articulate, as you see him. ‘Dear Patricia’, he started, OMIGOD! He explained to me that the picture I enquired about was of a new edition of the TPOTE book and I should be able to find it in stores easily.
He thanked me for watching the series and told me what he thought of a certain population in a certain west coast city, nothing offensive, just adorable. Of course I thanked him profusely and told him that I had found the book after I had it.
He’s been kind enough to answer many of my tweets to him about many subjects and I most recently participated in a Q&A at the Borgias Wiki site on the night of the premiere of The Borgias on Showtime.
Angela, the creator of the site was trying to get some of the actors who are on Twitter to come and chat with the fans on that night, David had kindly told her that he would do his best to be with us. Sure enough, before the show aired he came in the chatroom and we all went a little crazy (what can you expect).
He said hello to all of us and told us he was there at the request of Angela, and he only had a few minutes to talk to us. Of course we proceeded to bombard him with questions and he patiently answered as many as he could, including some of mine!!
He ended up staying with us for about fifteen minutes. It was such a treat and such a rarity. Nobody does stuff like that, well very few in any case. This guy has me, I’m a fan for life, the good thing is that he is so young and has a heck of a career in front of him, the bad thing is that he is too young! By the way, he was the only cast member that showed up that night. That says something about the man.
So check out some David Oakes, we have videos of some of his interviews, he really is a treat to watch, such an articulate guy and shows such love for what he does and appreciation for what he’s been given. A gem I would say.
Patricia.

Tu as beaucoup de chance. Je voudrai tellement le voir. Je donnerai n'importe quoi pour une entrevue avec lui.
