MATTHEW MACFADYEN, LUKE EVANS, RAY STEVENSON

A translation of some of the article shared by Die Drei Musketiere Facebook page about the Musketeers personalities:

Melancholic - Strong - Mysterious - Rebellious:
"The Three Musketeers"

"All for One and One for All!" In the fight against the power-hungry Cardinal Richelieu and the devilish Milady de winter, the qualities of each individual are more in demand than ever...

ATHOS (Matthew Macfadyen)

Essence: Melancholic heartbroken
Character: Grumpy, uncommunicatve, occassional drinker
Nature: The finest of the four
Principles: "morality and honour come first!"
Relation to d'Artagnan: like a father
Real example: Armand de de Sillègue d ' Athos d ' Autevielle, the to 1640 made career as a musketeer

Producer Robert Kulzer about Matthew Macfadyen: "he plays the role of Athos brilliantly - with grace and dignity, but also with a subliminal simmering violence and brutality."

PORTHOS (Ray Stevenson)

Essence: Supernaturally strong
Character: The funniest and careless of the four friends
Nature: wears short hair, unusual for the seventeenth-century
Principles: Dresses like a Navigator and fights like a pirate!
Relation to d'Artagnan: like a generous Uncle
Real example: Isaac de Portau, whose Vater was Secretary of the King

Ray Stevenson about his role: "even as a little boy I have seen the great adventure epic in the cinema." The chance to swing the sword now and to ride on horseback across the screen was just tempting!" "It is a gift to make money this way."

ARAMIS (Luke Evans)

Essence: The most mysterious musketeer
Character: The quietest of the four.
Character: a priest who reads the Bible and prays the Rosary

Relation to d'Artagnan: like a brother
Real example: Henri d ' Aramitz, a historian, which we know little of other than that his grandfather fought in the Huguenote war and his father served in the early seventeenth century in the Corps of Musketeers

Producer Robert Kulzer evaluates Luke Evans as the ideal person for ARAMIS: "He looks extremely good, but also brings a dark, mysterious side in this role."

D' ARTAGNAN (Logan Lerman)

Essence: Optimistic, Young
Character: Naive, rebellious
Nature: Riding a spotted horse, which stands out clearly from the proud Steed of Kings and Cardinals
Principles: Go out! The world is waiting for you! Take and find your happiness!
Relation to the Musketeers: he changed their lives, brings them together again and earned their respect
Real example: Charles d ' d'Artagnan de Batz-Castelmore (1623-1673), musketeer, who came in destitute from Gascony to Paris and made a brilliant military career

Producer Jeremy Bolt on Logan Lerman: "He is very sympathetic and can perfectly embody these D'Artagnesques qualities, he comes as a nobody from Gascony and soon changed the whole world."
