Working Title Films announced filming has begun on Anna Karenina, the epic drama based on Leo Tolstoy's acclaimed novel and directed by Joe Wright (Hanna). Oscar winner Tom Stoppard (Shakespeare in Love) adapted Tolstoy's book for the screen.
Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Paul Webster are producing. Filming will take place in the U.K. and Russia.

Anna Karenina synopsis: "The story unfolds in its original late-19th-century Russia high-society setting and powerfully explores the capacity for love that surges through the human heart, from the passion between adulterers to the bond between a mother and her children. As Anna questions her happiness, change comes to her family, friends, and community."

Oscar nominee Keira Knightley (Pride & Prejudice) reunites with director Joe Wright for the third time to star as Anna Karenina. The two previously worked together on Pride & Prejudice and Atonement. Jude Law is set to play Anna's husband, Aleksei Karenin, with Aaron Johnson (Nowhere Boy) cast as Count Vronsky. Anna Karenina also features Kelly Macdonald, Matthew Macfadyen, Domhnall Gleeson, Alicia Vikander, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and Ruth Wilson.
