Irish directors Darragh Byrne (Parked) and Risteard O’Domhnaill (The Pipe) are attending the Irish Film Festival London, which is being launched later today at Riverside Studios, Hammersmith London.

The festival, which brings Irish film, documentaries, shorts and animation to a London audience, will run until Sunday 6th November and opens with John Michael McDonagh’s ‘The Guard’ staring Brendan Gleeson (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; Part 1, Troy) and Don Cheadle (Iron Man 2, Hotel Rwanda).
Other films being shown during the festival include director Darragh Byrne’s ‘Parked’, staring Colm Meaney (The Conspirator, Get Him To The Greek), which will receive its UK premiere at the festival, and includes a Q+A session with Darragh Byrne afterwards.
‘Eamon’, a dark drama offering by director and screenwriter Margaret Corkery (Joyride, Killing The Afternoon), about a young boy with behavioural problems, will also get its East London premiere at the Rio Cinema.
The festival will also be showcasing documentaries including Fiona Whitty’s ‘The Ganger and The Agent’ and Risteard O’ Domhaill’s IFTA winning ‘The Pipe’ which tells the story of the small Rossport community which takes on the might of Shell Oil and the Irish State . ‘The Pipe’ will also include a Q+A session with O’Domhnaill.
Closing the festival is director Paul Fraser’s (Scummy Man, Somer’s Town) award winning directorial debut ‘My Brothers’, set in 1987, it tells the story of three young brothers who embark on an epic quest over the a Halloween weekend.
