Paul McCartney and his wife visit the Whitney Houston memorial in LA (The Mirror)

Paul McCartney blew kisses at the memorial as he visited the spot where Whitney died with wife Nancy this morning.

Sir Paul McCartney has visited the hotel where Whitney Houston died, to pay his respects and lay flowers in a growing memorial for the star. The singer pulled up outside the Beverly Hilton in LA where Whitney died in her suite on Saturday afternoon, to leave a bunch of yellow posies among the letters and memorabilia that have been placed along the pavement outside the hotel. He was joined by wife Nancy Shevell, who held Paul’s hand as he blew kisses at the memorial before bending over to read letters written by fans.

Paul’s visit follows the news that Whitney’s funeral will be held on Saturday in the New Jersey church where she first showed her singing talents as a child. The service will be held at noon at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, where mourners have started leaving balloons and candles outside the wrought-iron fence.
